You may require one or several procedures to be completed before you can receive dental implants. If you have loose teeth that need to be removed before your dental implant surgery, we can perform tooth extractions during the same visit. If youve suffered extreme bone loss in the implant area, well need to build the bone back up through bone grafting before it will support an implant long-term. This is done by harvesting a portion of real bone from your body or from a donor and placing it in the area of bone loss. Dr. Porcelli attributes all of his accomplishments and success to his number one passion his family life. He is married to his beautiful Romanian wife Alina, who is also in the health profession. Dr. Friedman brings nearly 30 years experience to Biological Center for Dentistry. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1982, and in 1984 received a qualification in Advanced Prosthodontics from the University of Southern California.
In 1994, Dr. Friedman was invited to join the faculty of the Misch International Implant Institute. In 2005, Dr. John Suzuki, a faculty member of the Misch Institute and Associate Dean of Temple University, asked Dr. Friedman to join the faculty of Temple. Dr. Friedman has, and continues to maintain positions at both institutions.
Dr. Friedman has worked and mentored in many private dental practices across the United States, and has placed and/or restored more than 10,000 implants. He is currently licensed in five (5) states: California, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.
For his patients in the Lowcountry Dr. Friedman is able to offer our patients many dental services here in our Biological Center for Dentistry. Notable procedures include extractions, dental implant placement from single tooth to full mouth and bone grafting. However, he still consults with patientsby phone or Skype regarding nutrition, lifestyle, oral and overall health, and the importance of a healthy gut.
Dr.Als passion for periodontics in generaland for the LANAP protocol combined with his emphasis on evolutionary nutrition in particularis palpable. He gives seminars regarding the cutting-edge concepts of nutrition and laser treatment to the general public and is happy to spread the word among his fellow professionals. He has been a member of many dental and periodontal organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Currently he enjoys Life Membership in the American Dental Association.
Dr. Al received his dental degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1972, and his Specialty Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Maryland, School of Graduate Dentistry in 1974. The following two years he was Chief of Periodontics at Charleston Air Force Base, and later had periodontal practices in Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina. Along with his active practice, from January 1990 through December 2001he wrote and published The Personal Report newsletter, which was mailed quarterly to every periodontist in the United States.
Dr. Al Danenberg received advanced training in evolutionary nutrition from theKripalu Center for Yoga and Health as well asTheCenter for Mind-Body Medicine. In June 2014, he received hisCertified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP) designation as well as his certification as aCertifiedPrimal Health Coach. In 2015, Dr. Al Danenberg was appointed to the faculty of theCollege of Integrative Medicine and created the colleges integrative periodontal teaching module. Dr Porcelli was absolutely fantastic with my 7 yr old son. This is not a pediatric dental office, but my son needed specific work done, using only specific medications and resins due to some allergies and sensitivities he's shown in the past. Dr Porcelli was totally great with my son and the work done was perfect. I was able to be in the room and help my son with headphones and staying comfortable. Previous consultations at other dentist offices said I couldn't be in the room, and all others demanded full sedation or barbiturate sedation, which were not options for him (medically). 10/10 stars!

Dr. Porcelli is one of the most dedicated dentists in his field. He is committed to excellence. He is constantly striving to not only achieve aesthetic perfection, but to ensure that his patient is comfortable and happy with the results. I have been a patient of his since I lived in New York where he opened his first practice. Since then, I moved to Los Angeles, and I still fly across the country to see him. He performed a complex case on me after I suffered a surfing accident that knocked out a lot of my teeth in 2007. I was mortified with my appearance after the accident and Dr. Porcelli performed a life altering treatment on me. He not only restored my teeth, but along with that, my confidence. I am currently undergoing an upgrade on my crowns and am flying in to see Dr. Porcelli for this treatment. It is hard to find the words to demonstrate my gratitude towards him and his incredibly kind, hard working staff. His team is unmatched; patient, kind, compassionate. Also, highly skilled and dedicated to providing top tier service. Their office morale always exudes joy. The sort of energy that welcomes you in and makes you feel like you're visiting your family. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I want to honor Dr. Porcelli and his team because they have given me countless hours of their dedication and the least I could do is give them a few minutes of mine.

I felt a plethora of negative vibes but the desperation of getting rid of my mercury and need for "holistic" treatment made me override my intuition. I'm only here writing my experience because it's been a couple of months since I had fillings and I am in miserable pain. Deep tooth pains wake me up at night and there's a large gap in between my teeth that is so painful I cannot eat on my right side. I can't even use toothpaste, I have to use coconut oil only. I've been hoping it's a healing period but it's now very obvious he's made a complete mess. I am pregnant and chose a "holistic" dentist because I wanted as little anesthetic as possible. I chose a higher priced dentist because I wanted a higher level of care. Well.. In the middle of my procedure this dentist walked away to take a 10 minute phone call and I needed more anesthesia when he returned. I left and went home only to notice that he'd completely missed a filling and left me with a gaping hole in my mouth. MORE anesthesia the next day!! I stayed humble but now I am furious. I haven't even received a follow up call and at this point I'm in complete fear to go back. Waking up in awful pain every night and in pain while eating is debilitating and affects quality of life which only makes me want to put the 30k I was going to spend on my mouth on a law suit instead. I should at least have my $1800 returned! They really do not care. Awful experience.

I enjoyed my first cleaning with Alida, today. I've been looking forward to it because I've always enjoyed having my teeth cleaned and it's been too long; she honestly exceeded my expectations! Alida is knowledgeable, personal and kind. I felt she genuinely cared about me as a person and wanted to help me make the best decisions for my overall health. My mouth feels great! She used baking soda to polish my teeth instead of that nasty scouring paste conventional dentists use. It was the perfect balance of careful work and conversation. When I checked out she answered all my financial questions, too. In my previous visit with Dr. Porcelli the experience was comparable. He is a warm, knowledgeable and compassionate doctor. Like most holistic practitioners he cares about the whole person and doesn't compartmentalize my teeth. I feel relaxed in the office. Others describe it as a spa-like atmosphere; to me it's as comfortable as being outside. It's chill upscale SC in the best way. If you value holistic and biological health care and avoid conventional "care," then you need to visit these folks. I look forward to my ongoing care, here. It's well worth the 45 minutes drive from GA.

As the parent of a child with several allergies and sensitivities, I am very careful when selecting my healthcare professionals. I always try to seek out someone I can trust to do necessary research and treat with differentiation based on patient need rather than one size fits all. Especially with my daughter, it is essential that what goes in her body is chosen carefully as to avoid reactions. At the recommendation of my super satisfied Savannah friends, I decided to try Porcelli's practice, and I could not be happier. Dr. Porcelli is the most knowledgeable, wise, and compassionate practitioner I've met. He does not make me feel small as a parent but works with my concerns and researches for the best option for my children, patiently taking time to hear and understand me. My six year old immediately felt comfortable with the relaxing climate & culture he's created with his office and staff but more importantly immediately loved Dr. Porcelli and trusted him. And even more, after listening to his love for people, knowledge of his profession, and passion for his community, I trusted him even with my picky mom gut. We had work done today, and I am relieved and impressed. It is such a wonderful blessing to have found his practice. They are exceptional in every way, and I cannot emphasize how very protected and cared for we feel. Dr. Porcelli and his team are incredible! I am so blessed to have found them! I had oral surgery to remove an old root canal and had a wonderful experience. Not only did they all make me feel at ease and confident that they would be taking excellent care of me but I had no pain after the extraction and absolutely no swelling! They offer the best approach to holistic medicine and I am SOLD!! This is my forever dentist. Rest assured, I will share this office with everyone I know! Don't ever just "settle" with your health. Dr. Richard and Alina Porcelli have amazed me with their professionalism, compassion, and intelligence! Their work is state of the art; and the space that they hold is so deeply nourishing for someone like me who has been thoroughly traumatized by my previous experiences with dentistry. I have a tooth where the dentist removed an old filling and replaced with a new one. -That was about a year ago.- It still hurts! And it did NOT hurt before I went in! Also, a huge gap was left between the teeth - and there was NO gap before. He proceeded to attempt to "adjust it" - after multiple return visits, I concluded it was not helping at all. I eventually went to another dentist who has helped quite a bit. Just a heads up- it's is also very expensive. My tip is -- get a second opinion before deciding to become a patient. Update: the dentist did call and offer to make any correction necessary - Admirable! But no need at this point as it has already been addressed by another dentist. - Happy dentist hunting!
