He also spent a year at the Veterans Administration Hospital /University of Iowa Hospital Combination Residency in Dental Anesthesiology where he learned to treat patients in the Operating Room under general anesthesia. During his time in Los Angeles, he completed several interesting full-mouth cases in the O.R.

Dr. Grill began his study of Biological and Holistic Dentistry in 1988, when he took courses with Dr. Hal Huggins, one of the foundational organizers and teachers of Biological Dentistry. Dr. Huggins passed a few months ago, but he left a huge legacy that Dr. Grill and other Biological Dentists continue to study and practice today. Once becoming a Biological Dentist, Dr. Grill began studying a myriad of integrated medical and dental concepts. He attended hundreds of hours of continuing education in this pursuit. He has given presentations on Biological Dentistry to other healthcare providers, including 500 oncologists at a Healthy Medicine Conference where he described how Biological Dentistry can improve cancer treatment outcomes. He spoke at the Integrated Health Conference in San Diego to a large group of cancer patients who were searching for knowledge on how to beat their diagnoses and how dentistry plays a crucial role in combating chronic disease. He participated with a team of healthcare providers near Los Angeles that worked together to help patients with a broad range of health issues. This team approach changed his life, and he knew he would never work alone again, even if he practiced as a solo practitioner as he does today. His team has expanded even further and includes many brilliant biological dentists, physicians, and alternative doctors from many disciplines throughout the US. It is not just what he knows, but his continuing commitment to gain and to share knowledge so that his patients benefit. Dr. Grill spends hours in medical and health research, constantly adding to his knowledge base. Another necessary tool he has learned over the years is to listen carefully to his patients; the beginning of some real answers for you may come as you share your story.

Dr. Grill and his wife, Deby, moved to the Franklin area in May 2020 and are excited about the new chapter in their lives. The people of Tennessee are wonderful and have been extremely friendly and accepting. The Grills have traveled through much of Tennessee and are really enjoying the South. They walk every day, enjoy movies, fine-dining, and meeting new friends.
