Biologic extraction of infected teeth includes certain steps to optimize healing after an extraction and to increase bone and tissue regeneration. After the tooth is removed, the socket has to be completely cleaned so that complete healing can occur. If tissue such as torn pieces of ligaments or periosteum is left in the socket and covers the bone, the bone will tend to heal over the top, leaving a hole in the bone, and new bone cannot form. This hole can persist for the rest of the patients life. It is a chronic infection that is called an alveolar cavitational osteopathosis or cavitation. This means that there is an infected cavity in the bone. These bone infections are only now being seriously researched.

Ozone (O3) is a supercharged version of regular Oxygen (O2). We use it at AOSC as a means of improving bone healing after extraction, bone grafting and implant placement. It does this by sterilizing the surgical bed and enhancing the quality of blood flow to the affected area. This prevents infections while enhancing bone formation.

The hollow space of a cavitation becomes a breeding ground for various microorganisms. As long as they are contained in the local area, the condition is symptomless. But over time, as the natural defenses that keep the microorganisms in check weaken either through aging, disease or stress. As a result, the microorganisms and the toxins they produce spread to other areas of the body via the lymph, blood and nerves.

The treatment for a cavitation is surgical removal of the infected and gangrenous bone. If not completely removed, the cause of the condition remains intact and the toxins will continue to circulate throughout the body. When performed on a recent extraction site, the surgery is a relatively uncomplicated. But at old extraction sites, the task is more difficult because it is not easy to image the actual cavitation site. Without a clear picture, it is hard to determine whether the area has been completely cleaned of the infected or necrotic tissues. What is more, patients who have suffered with chronic cavitations need to detoxify and rebuild their system. This must be done as an individualized protocol usually involving a combination of nutritional, herbal and homeopathic remedies.

For our holistic patients or people that are allergic or sensitive to metal, we are pleased to offer ceramic implants. You may have also heard the term Zirconia implant being used and you can be assured that these are one in the same.Zirconia dental implants are made from special, industrial, high impact resistant ceramic (zirconium oxide, ZrO2) that is customarily used in aerospace engineering because of its high resistance to fracture and heat. To provide our patients with the best quality, Dr. Baranovitch uses ceramic implants only in order to provide ametal-free, holisticand esthetic solution.

Ceramic implants are highlybiocompatiblewith the human body; high-impact ceramic implants provide a viable alternative to metal (titanium)implants. Ceramic implants have already made their mark for years in Europe and South America. Studies show that the osseointegrationthe process of bone growing right up to the implant surfaceof zirconia and titanium implants is very similar, and that zirconia implants have a comparable survival rate, making them an excellent alternative to metal implants.

  • Holistic and Metal-Free Many patients are concerned about putting metal in their mouths and are looking to switch to more holistic dental prosthetics. Ceramic implants do not contain metal and are free of allergens, providing a more holistic approach to replacing missing teeth
  • Aesthetically-Pleasing Ceramic dental implants are more aesthetically-pleasing due to their gorgeous white and smooth finish. This creates a seamless look in the mouth for a more uniform smile. The zirconia also stays white despite being in a patients mouth for years.
  • Better Bond with Bone Overall osseointegration with the bone has been found to either be similar to or better than titanium implants when using ceramic. This is ideal for patients who have had failed implants and need a more stable solution to their oral health needs.
  • Helps with Plaque Accumulation Due to its smooth finish, ceramic implants inhibit the adhesion of plaque and bacteria, lending to a healthier smile and mouth. This prevents failure of the implant due to bacteria and inflammation.
  • High Endurance When it concerns ceramic vs metal, ceramic has a higher endurance rate than titanium. These implants can endure up to 150 pounds of force before fracturing and cracking, which is highly beneficial to people of all ages and sizes.
  • No Allergic Reactions Some patients have an allergy to titanium and unfortunately, it is not uncommon for surgeons to find out about this allergy until a titanium implant has been placed. Because zirconia is a clean and metal-free option, it is ideal for patients with allergies and for surgeons who are looking to prevent potential allergic reactions in patients.
  • Non-Polar Because of the implants non-polar structure, bacteria will not adhere onto the zirconia implant as it would on titanium. This creates a healthier implant option for the mouth without the fear of bacterial growth underneath the gums.
  • Non-Heat Conductive Unlike metal, ceramic implants do not conduct heat. Titanium can and will conduct as well as hold onto heat, which could damage surrounding tissue. Once the zirconia implant has been placed, the tissue around the implant can heal and will remain unaffected.
  • Preserves Bone Titanium has been shown to cause peri-implant bone loss in those who have had implants placed. Ceramic implants, on the other hand, do not cause this bone loss and are more ideal for long-term surgical use.
  • Cleaner Ceramic implant margins are placed at the gum line, whereas titanium is placed underneath the gum line. This above gum level option helps the patient to keep the implant cleaner and preserves healthy surrounding gum tissue as a result of better oral hygiene.
  • No Metallic Taste Titanium is a metal that can cause corrosion and oxidation, resulting in a metallic taste in the mouth for your patients. Zirconia is clean and free of metal, preventing that unpleasant metallic taste after implantation has been complete.
  • Platelet Rich Fibrin (or PRF) is a type of plasma rich protein (PRP) that is derived by fractioning blood into its components. PRF is used primarily in bone and soft tissue regeneration. It is a technique that uses a small amount of the patients own blood to isolate crucial proteins that stimulate healing, foster new bone growth, and repair soft tissue in surgical sites. And, because PRF is derived from the patients own blood and tissue, the process is very safe with little risk of disease transmission or rejection from the donor.

PRF is considered a breakthrough in bone and soft tissue regeneration because it permits the body to take advantage of the normal healing pathways at a greatly accelerated rate. When the body is wounded and needs to heal, many different cells and cell-types are rushed to the site of the injury. These cells initiate the healing process by forming blood clots and releasing growth factors into the wound. The more growth factors that are introduced to the wound, the quicker and more efficiently the body is able to heal.

By introducing PRF to the surgical area, the body is able to take advantage of a large amount of growth factors without the blood cells. This allows for accelerated healing but without the immune system response of swelling and inflammation. PRF also has been shown to increase the formation of new bone. By adding PRF to the surgical site, the doctor can now grow bone more predictably and faster than ever before. This is of great significance when placing dental implants.

Holistic often called Biological dental practitioners, consider overall and emotional well-being of a person while assessing dental health. Biological dentists are preserving and nurturing natural dentition and take minimal invasion Approach. Holistic dentists use nontoxic, metal free and biocompatible materials while placing restorations. Biological and Holistic dentist use natural therapies often used in adjunction with conventional to diagnose, prevent and treat dental diseases.

Meridian Tooth Chart is based on ancient Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Meridians function as a network, pathways of energy that spread across interconnected body parts, much like a highway system that mapped throughout the entire body. Holistic dentist are paying great attention to the Meridian Tooth Chart and can often assess patients overall state of wellbeing, simply by evaluating their oral health. If a particular system or organ exhibits a weakness, any condition on the tooth that is associated with that organ could exaggerate the problem. Unfortunately, Holistic dentistry and dental evaluation is in many cases a last resort when it comes to treating chronic diseases. At Bio Dental we encourage people to take proactive Approach and to take care of their health before symptoms will appear.

All silver-colored fillings are called dental amalgam, and they contain about fifty percent Mercury. Those amalgam fillings are still placed in the majority of the states. Mercury is constantly released from dental amalgam fillings and it is absorbed and retained in the body, particularly in the brain, kidney, liver, lung, and gastrointestinal tract. The amount of Mercury released depends mostly on the amount of fillings a person has in his mouth and other activities, such as: chewing, teeth-grinding, and the consumption of hot liquids. At Bio Dental we safely remove amalgam, Mercury fillings and replacing them with biocompatible, BPA free resin composites, while following protocol recommended by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. Dr. Baranovitch is a SMART certified by IAOMT and follows their protocol with all details in place. We also provide additional supplementation.

Saliva is one of the most significant elements that maintain good oral health. The PH test measures a salivary acidity or alkalinity. The measure ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 representing neutrality. The recommended pH of saliva should range between 6.7 and 7.4, keeping it relatively neutral and protecting the oral environment. For example, black coffee and sugar are acidic foods which fall below pH 7. Broccoli and avocado are alkaline foods and will keep the pH above 7.

At Bio Dental we will measure salivary pH with a level test strip or litmus paper. We will collect a saliva sample from the patient and will place the strip inside, the paper will change color associated with a particular pH level. The color is ranging from red strong acidic environment to dark blue/purple indicating alkaline environment. Salivary pH testing is playing a significant role in understanding and improving oral health by assessing pH and diet as risk factors for dental caries and dental erosion.

Ozone is a naturally occurring gas. The molecule of Ozone consists of three oxygen atoms (O3) as opposed to an oxygen molecule that is made of only two oxygen atoms (O2). The extra oxygen molecule on Ozone is caring a negative charge and has a strong affinity to infections because they are positively charged, thus neutralizing the infection sites. Ozone gas is present in the upper atmosphere and shielding us from the harmful sun-rays. Ozone also disinfecting and purifying the air while binding to positively charged pollutants, this mechanism is greatly appreciated in medicine and dentistry.

Ozone therapy is acceptable around the world, particularly in Europe. Ozone is a great antimicrobial agent that kills bacteria, viruses and fungi while harmless to the human cell. Ozone therapy is a unique form of therapy that both heals and detoxifies at the same time. Ozone therapy is used to treat a variety of dental disease including periodontal disease, cavity arrest, sensitivity and pediatric dentistry, used to speed up healing times with cold sores, mouth ulcers, and implants.

Ozone gas has three oxygen atoms; the third atom is detached and is negatively charged. The single oxygen atom that is negatively charges is able to attach to outer coating of bacterial, viruses and fungi and kill it. Humans cells have enzyme coating and is it impenetrable by Ozone, hence only bacterial viruses and fungi will be destroyed. Ozone kills bad and good bacterial to some extent, but good bacteria repopulate significantly faster than the bad one, thus makes this affect hardly noticeable.

Like most things, including water and oxygen, Ozone is toxic if given in amounts that exceed the bodys capacity to utilize it. When it comes to Ozone, it is no different. Ozone is found naturally in the body and secreted during immune response. There are established guidelines that need to be followed while using medical Ozone in the office.

In order to make ozonated water Ozone gas is insufflated into water. Ozone gas is bubbled through the water and slowly dissolves until the water is saturated with it. At Bio Dental we Ozonate distilled waterand use in during all procedures in the clinic. By ozonizing water we remove bacteria and disinfect everything that it comes in contact. Unlikewaterchlorination, ozonationdoesnt involve adding any chemicals or any other substances to thewater. Ozonation is the most environmental purification of the water.

Very similar to the ozonated water, Ozone oil is made with Ozone gas that is insufflated into oil. Ozone gas is bubbled through the oil and slowly dissolves until the oil is saturated with it. Oil that is ozonated is a strong disinfectant and keeps its ability to kill bacteria for a very long time.

  • Nasal insufflation:Ozone (with olive oil bubbler ozonides, not straight Ozone. Breathing straight Ozone can irritate the lungs and cause coughing) is supplied through nasal cannulas for a period of time. Best for allergies.
  • Ear insufflation:Ozone is introduced to the ear canal and enters the lymphatic and blood system. Many patients have reported a wide variety of results including relief of allergies, relief of colds, clearing of sore throats and swollen glands.
  • At Bio Dental we focus on prevention of decay. We educate our patient and monitor the progress and success. Is some cases restorations are unavoidable; we place fillings crowns and veneers. We use Fluoride Free and BPA Free Materials to restore the teeth. We use the most biocompatible materials that are known to be the least allergenic to humans. We respect parents choice and work together as one.

Nutrition is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Without good nutrition, we dont have enough energy to make it through the day and to take care of our kids. Our health can decline without proper nutrition, making us more susceptible to illness and disease and affect our oral health. It is well known that a lot of diseases today are caused by an unhealthy diet. Nutrition counseling is a type of assessment that analyzes various health needs in regard to diet and activities. With proper guidelines we can help you to set achievable health goals and teaches various ways of maintaining these goals throughout your lifetime which eventually will reflect on your oral health as well.

One of the very important element of integrative dentistry is biocompatibility testing. At Bio Dental we offer Biocompatibility Testing for our patients. As we all different, we have different reaction to material used in dentistry. In order for material not to trigger any allergic reaction for a particular patient, biocompatibility test can be performed.

Biopsy and material compatibility testing is a simple blood test. The blood is drawn and test tubes are sent to the lab, where they will be tested for a presence of the antibodies IgG, and IgM with respect to each material. During this test 94 basic chemical groups and families of compounds are examined; correlation of findings with more than 17,204 dental restorative trade name products in 37 application categories.

Our life and daily activities depend on breathing, we are running on oxygen. Dentistry is a great environment to discover patients with obstructed airflow. Normal breathing is inhaled and exhaled through the nose, it is silent and natural. Normal breathing is necessary for a heathy, joyful and productive life. Snoring and teeth grinding are singes of airway obstruction and a main cause of Sleep Apnea. Please let us know if you experience one of the following:

A frenulum is a fold of tissue that anchors an organ, preventing it from moving around and restricting essential functions like; breast feeding, breathing problems and swallowing issues. The mouth is home to few different frenumes. Most common frenum is a tongue tie or ankyloglossia, it attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth. While the second common is a lip -tie and it secures the upper or lower lip to the gums. A frenectomy is a minor in-office oral surgicalprocedure that preformed with a soft tissue laser. During Frenectomy the connective tissue located under the tongue (tongue tie or ankyloglossia) or the band of tissue that attaches the upper lip to the gums removed in order to allow free movement of the tongue and lips. Frenectomies can aid in prevention of future health problems like dental decay or spacing, speech difficulties, breathing, swallowing, and digestive issues.

Breast feeding is the most venerable and important time for the mother and a child. Successful breast feeding can have a huge impact on the childs future life. An infants inability to breastfeed often results in the mother giving up breastfeeding entirely while being told that the problem is her fault, when the problems may actually result from restricted tongue and upper lip attachments making normal function, mobility and breastfeeding difficult or even impossible.

Babies with ties may not maintain a latch for long enough to take in a full feeding, while others may remain attached to the breast for long periods of time without taking in enough milk. Some infants will feed only during the mothers milk ejection reflex or let-down when the milk ejects more freely, but wont continue to draw milk out of the breast when this slows. Bottle feeding allows milk to drip into the mouth without effort, thus requiring less tongue muscle effort than is needed for breastfeeding.

Dr. Baranovitch will follow up with your referring practitioner and will work closely to achieve mutual goals. We also have a network of holistic and naturopathic practitioners that we can refer your child if needed. We allow your chiropractor and lactation consultant IBCLC to be present during Frenectomy treatment upon your request. Post-operative care is important in order for Frenectomy to be successful. Essentially, the baby must learn how to use his or her tongue in a new way. Some babies need no help at all and immediately breastfeed post-procedure, while other babies may need help by additional professionals.

  • An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) can help improve latch, provide suck strengthening exercises and develop a feeding plan to address issues of latch, nipple healing, and low milk supply.
  • At Bio Dental, we accommodate patients from all across the DFW Motorplex area. We perform tongue tie and lip tie Frenectomies on infants, children, and teens and adults using a dedicated technology specialized soft tissue laser. Soft tissue laser used to remove the oral tissue, it is the less invasive technique and causes minimal to no bleeding and discomfort. Infants are swaddled during the procedure, while older kids are treated in the dental chair. All patients and their family members are protected with appropriate eyewear during the procedure. We offer a choice of anesthetic for our patients and their ultimate comfort. The frenum is removed with laser basically vaporized by the highly focused laser beam rather than being cut with a scalpel. The use of soft tissue laser also enables fast and smooth healing process with fewer complications, which is very important for newborn and young children.

The laser stimulates tissue healing, which can aid in promoting faster healing. Some kids are healing fast while for others it can take few days. Following a frenectomy for a breastfed child, mother can nurse immediately. If a local anesthetic has been used, your infant can have some difficulty at first. Breastmilk contains healing properties for your child and can provide them with comfort after the procedure is complete. It is recommended to breast feed or feed every few hours to maintain the frenums from attaching back. We will provide you with specific instructions for aftercare once the frenectomy is complete.

What a fantastic practice. I'm so glad I found them when I did. My kids will grow up with good, holistic dental care. I only wish I would have started myself 20 years ago. The knowledge, care and transparency I received is unmatched.

We chose bio dental to give us a second opinion on the planned treatment for my kids. They got us in quickly and were able to eliminate a lot of unnecessary treatments. I'm so happy I trusted my gut and got another opinion.

I had a wonderful first experience at Bio Dental Allen. I hadn't been to the dentist in over 5 years so I was a bit nervous. The entire staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable. The exam and cleaning went very well... very thorough. No harsh chemicals. Already scheduled to go back in 6 months.

So happy to have found this holistic dentist. Had a great first time experience. Everyone so nice, I loved the supplements to help with radiation post x-rays and the very personalized time and attention from the Dr. who really tries to understand the "why" behind whatever is going on. The massage chair in the lobby is a fun bonus too :)

Wonderful!! My appointment ran right on time. So refreshing. I cannot say enough about Dr. B. She wasn't only amazing in the "Dentistry" arena, but she is so compassionate about your entire well being. She spent time discussing and giving great knowledge of certain issues that have been troubling me. That was such a blessing. The checkup and cleaning plus one additional cleaning in 6 months is 260.00 if you are a cash patient.

I am so happy I found Bio Dental! Dr. Baranovitch is amazing and truly cares for her patients. She is so personable. From my first visit, she made sure I was taken care of. I came to my first visit from two hours away and had not eaten. After first taking my blood sugar levels, because diabetes runs in my family, Dr. B took the time to give me nutrients and talked with me, getting to know me while I ate it, before starting an evaluation, just to make sure I would be ok. On my second visit, I needed a deep cleaning and two extractions. Because I was experiencing pain and the next appointment was about three weeks out, Dr. B put me on her schedule for 5:00 (after nor.al business hours) so that I would not have to be in pain and deal with infection so long. I am blessed to have Dr B and the Bio Dental team as my dental provider, and I highly recommend them to anyone. Vanesss

Dr. Baranovitch has been taking care of our son's teeth this year. She has helped him with cavities, fillings, and extractions. She does her work with great skill and attention to detail, while making the experience as quick and easy as possible. My son is almost 5, and he likes her so much he talks about her pretty often, he thinks of her as a person who cares about him and takes care of him. I look forward to having her work on my teeth next.

I am not a fan of any dentist but I have not been for about 5 years and I was told a holistic dentist might be a better experience. They were correct. I went ahead and made a 6 month follow up right there with the office staff who were very helpful.

Finally there is a dentist that is care driven and not money driven! I called for a consultation for my 11yo and they were kind enough to let me meet with the Dr for free. It was supposed to be a 15 min consultation but it went well over an hour. Dr B kindly and patiently answered all of my questions, and offered us alternatives that we were unaware of. We got a treatment plan and very happy with the results. Many thanks Bio Dental!
