Dr. Benjamin Pham or Dr. Ben enjoys seeing the kids with a smile on their face, even at the dentist! He hopes to provide an environment where the kids feel relaxed and safe. He understands that every child is different and will try to make them as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Ben is originally from the SF Bay, where he learned how to walk, read comic books and build robots. After the fun years he went on to obtain his BS in Human Biology from University of California, San Diego. It was there that his road in dentistry began working as a student manager of a Free Dental Clinic for the underserved of San Diego. He completed his Dental Degree (DMD) in Bahston, coming down to thaw in Brooklyn while working as a Resident in a Trauma 1 center. (This is where he met Dr. Kristen) While working in the hospital he realized that the key to good oral health starts at a young age and wanted to focus on educating his patients about how Oral Health is just like all health it starts with habits in childhood with the educated help of those who raise these children.

Finally he completed his two-step Board Certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Throughout Dr. Ben has made time to continue serving the underserved overseas through dental mission trips. Not only are these trips rewarding but Dr. Ben can also experience life abroad. He has enjoyed visiting Mexico, Honduras, Grenada and the South Pacific Islands and hopes to be able to work in other underserved countries in the future.

Alexis is one chill Oregon Native. Alexis handles communication between our patients families, doctors and referring specialty offices. With years of experience in pediatric dentistry as a former assistant and 3 young children she guides each of our families with kindness and understanding.

Gabby hails from California and is an integral member of our team! She keeps our office moving through the day assisting the doctors and our patients. When not working hard she is hanging out with her daughter or working on fun art projects.

Sedation can be a helpful therapy to safely and comfortably treat your child to provide them the best experience possible. Sedation is not intended to be regularly used method of management for all children. It is prescribed depending on your childs presentation or temperament. Every child deserves a chance at a positive experience at the dental office. We utilize the appropriate level of sedation catered to the individual childs needs, be it apprehension, mild analgesia (pain management), special healthcare needs, or inability to cooperate safely. When used appropriately sedation can be well controlled and safe. We ensure this by providing ample time to treat and monitor the patients and utilizing additional providers such as an Anesthesiologist when appropriate.

Some children are given nitrous oxide/oxygen - or what you may know as laughing gas - to relax them for their dental treatment. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the childs nose, allowing them to relax without putting them to sleep. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recognizes this technique as a very safe, effective technique for treating childrens dental needs. The gas is mild, easily taken, and it is quickly eliminated from the body and it is non-addictive. While inhaling nitrous oxide/oxygen, your child remains fully conscious and maintains all of their natural reflexes.

Conscious Sedation is recommended for apprehensive children, very young children, and children with special needs. It is used to calm your child and to reduce the anxiety or discomfort associated with dental treatments. Your child may become quite drowsy and may even fall asleep, but they will not become unconscious.

There are a variety of different medications that can be used for conscious sedation. Your dentist or orthodontist will prescribe the medication best suited for your childs overall health and dental treatment plan. We will be happy to answer any questions you might have concerning the specific medicine we plan to administer to your child.

  • Because we use local anesthetic to numb your childs mouth during the procedure, your child may have the tendency to bite or chew their lips, cheeks, and/or tongue and/or rub and scratch their face after treatment. Please observe your child carefully to prevent any injury to these areas.
  • I.V. Sedation is recommended for apprehensive children, very young children, and children with special needs that do not work well under conscious sedation. Our dentist performs the dental treatment in our office with the child anesthetized under I.V. sedation, which is administered and monitored by an anesthesiologist.

  • If your child wants to sleep, place them on their side with their chin up. Wake your child every hour and encourage them to have something to drink in order to prevent dehydration. At first it is best to give your child sips of clear liquids to prevent nausea.

My three children have been visiting this practice for quite a while. Scheduling is a breeze and the staff is friendly. Our appointments begin promptly, but we never feel rushed. One of my kids is nervous (not their fault). They are extremely patient and definitely take the time to put her at ease. The Dentist is very thorough at instructing the kids on dental hygiene and then following up with me afterwards and addressing concerns.

What a wonderful children's dentist office - the staff is friendly and warm, the walls are decorated w/the famous "Where the Wild Things Are" theme, and they have a beautiful salt water fish tank. My toddler immediately felt comfortable and played w/the train set upon arrival. The atmosphere is perfect for any child's first dentist experience. Dr. Ben Pham was engaging and helpful, and my 2.5yr old was able to relax and have a positive dentist appt!
