I was born and raised in Chicago and have lived in and around the city most of my life. After completing my undergraduate studies at Santa Clara University in California, I returned to Chicago and graduated Northwestern University Dental School in 1981. My 40 years of experience I bring to my patients has enabled me to perform both complex and basic dental procedures efficiently and with beautiful, long-lasting results.I look forward to helping my patients whether its a basic filling, complex cosmetics, or full mouth rehabilitation. I have been performing dental services like bonding, porcelain veneers, and implant restorations since the 1980s. I believe that informing and educating my patients is the foundation of developing a trusting and long-term relationship that will lead to a lifetime of dental health. The interaction, involvement, and cooperation of my patient develops an empowering and caring relationship that leads to successful decision making. My judicious use of current technology and methods makes a visit to the dentist less apprehensive and painless.
With over 1000 hours of continuing education, I am able to use state-of-the-art materials to restore teeth to their natural function and appearance. I am licensed in both Illinois and California. In my spare time I enjoy cycling, golf, snow skiing, and yoga.
I have studied with Practical Clinical Courses, an internationalcontinuing education organization, founded by Dr.s Gordon and RellaChristensen. I was invited to become an evaluator for their CliniciansReport Foundation, a non-profit organization which conducts unbiased researchin all areas of dentistry since 1976.
For seven years I workedpart-time at the Northwestern Dental Center, located in Northwestern Hospital.My time at Northwestern has given me a deep understanding of the link betweendental and medical health. After having a solo practice in downtown Chicago for19 years, I was given the opportunity to merge and expand my existing practicewith Big City Dental.
I grew up in the greaterPhiladelphia area and headed to the Midwest when my family moved during highschool. I earned my undergraduate degree from Aquinas College, a liberal artscollege, in Michigan which offered megreat diversity and a well-roundededucation. I received my Bachelor of Science in Dentistry and Doctor of DentalSurgery degrees from the University of Illinois in 1999.
I worked as an associatebefore starting my private practice in 2003, wanting to provide an intimatepractice that supports patients in an urban setting. I am passionate about myphilosophy that all the care I extend is tailored and specialized to eachindividual patient.
I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1988 with a doctorate in dentistry, where I received the Student Periodontal Achievement award and the Oral Pathology award. My research in the Department of Oral Pathology has been published in the Journal of Dental Research. I received my specialty certificate in periodontics from the University of Illinois in 1991. In addition to my private practice, I am also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois where I supervise students in the postgraduate periodontal clinic. I am married and the proud father of three children, and a grandfather. In my spare time, I have completed eleven marathons, many triathlons and century bike rides.
