Better Sleep Carolina - General dentist in Hillsborough, NC

Dr. Steve Garrett is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, so he is sort of a Tar Hoo or a Wa Heel when it comes to cheering for his teams. But if it came down to an ACC or NCAA championship match between Virginia and UNC, Dr. Garrett would be wearing Carolina Blue. Dr. Steve Garrett was born in Oklahoma but grew up in St. Louis before leaving home for college. After graduation and while working in corporate America as a computer consultant, he lived and worked in most major cities in this country. This experience gave him a great appreciation for how wonderful and diverse this amazing country is. It also heightened his appreciation for how good we have it here in North Carolina, his home for over 15 years. Since graduation, our Hillsborough, NC dentist has taken hundreds of hours of dental continuing education, including training in sleep apnea treatment. He is a conservative-minded dentist who believes in pragmatic yet advanced solutions to patients problems. Thats why the focus of his practice is to treat people how we would like to be treated. Dr. Garrett has always been on the cutting edge of dentistry, and he will continue to keep up with the ever-evolving field of dentistry. He does this because he truly cares about people and wants to give his patients the opportunity to restore their health and quality of life. Immersing himself in the field of dental sleep medicine is just one way Dr. Garrett strives to improve the lives of others and potentially save lives. Dr. Garrett became interested in dental sleep medicine in 2017 after the American Dental Association stated that dentists are the only health care providers qualified to provide oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea. He understands that nobody wants to wear a CPAP mask (the compliance rate is less than 50 percent), which is why he is committed to offering a comfortable sleep apnea solution. By creating custom oral appliances, he can help you feel rested and healthy again. Our Hillsborough, NC dentist and his team are highly trained in the use of advanced tools like a CEREC system for same-day dental restorations. Dr. Garrett is married with four children. His wife is also a dentist (a prosthodontist), and so there is a good chance that at least one of their kids will follow suit in the profession. When he is not busy making his patients healthier, Dr. Garrett enjoys biking, hiking, skiing, camping, eating lots of Mexican food and sushi (not usually together), and spending time with his family.

Dr. Evie Sabet sees you as a person, not a number. She is able to look at your overall health and help you make decisions in our office that will impact your entire life. She was inspired to become a dentist when she witnessed veterans struggle with these simple aspects of life: chewing food, speaking properly, and smiling freely. She volunteered at the VA hospitals dental clinic while attending the University of Florida (go Gators!), where she earned her undergraduate degree in food science and health nutrition. Seeing firsthand how excellent dentistry could change the lives of these men and women who sacrificed for our country was enough to inspire Dr. Sabet to apply for dental school the following year. She had not thought about the impact of oral health on a persons quality of life, but once she saw it, Dr. Sabet was ready to help others obtain good health. Dr. Sabet graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2009. She is licensed in Florida and North Carolina and has worked in nine different roles as a dentist, varying from starting a practice on her own to being an assistant clinical professor at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, to providing dental care to patients in nursing homes using mobile dental equipment. The best part of her job is meeting new people and getting to know the community she serves. In most cases, a dentist sees patients more often than a primary care doctor, so she values getting to know our patients and their families and being a part of their life. Dr. Evie focuses primarily on sleep apnea treatment, Invisalign treatment, family dentistry, and our HealthyStartprogram. She has been honored as a University Scholar at the University of Florida, a member of Gorgas Dental Honors Society, and the winner of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery Managers Award. In addition to her accolades, Dr. Evie stays connected and up-to-date with memberships in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Dental Association, and North Carolina Dental Association. Because of her dedication to providing advanced solutions to her patients, she worked with physicians to help diagnose and treat sleep apnea before the ADA recognized dentists vital role in the field of dental sleep medicine. When not at the office, Dr. Sabet spends time with her husband and three children. Her oldest daughter loves horses, rides regularly, and participates in local horse shows. Her second daughter has a flair for the dramatic arts and can be found singing, dancing, and acting even when she is not in acting class. Her third child is a rambunctious little man who enjoys tae kwon do and watching hockey with his dad. (Go Buffalo Sabres!)
