Dr. Donald J. Betar, Jr., graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in 1985 and from Juniata College in 1989, with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. In 1993, he received his Doctorate Degree in Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
In 2016, Dr. Betar was inducted as a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. Less than 5% of general dentists accomplish the 500 hours of continuing education and pass the qualifying exam in order to receive this highly renowned distinction. -'Through hard work and sacrifice, all fellows have demonstrated their commitment to a professional responsibility we all incur upon entering the dental profession. In 2020, Dr. Betar was awarded with the Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Less than 2% of all general dentists have earned this designation, requiring over 1,100 hours of continuing education and over 400 hours of hands-on application. -'The Mastership Award is the highest honor available in the AGD and one of the most respected designations in the profession. In December of 2006, he moved his practice into a new state-of-the-art facility. Since then he has built an addition to the office to accomodate his growing practice. Finished in June of 2014, the building is one of the premier dental offices located in central Pennsylvania. It is equipped with the most modern, technologically advanced dental equipment available.
In December of 2010, Betar Dental continued its commitment to providing the most advanced equipment available by purchasing a Va-Tech PaX-Duo3D Conebeam Digital Radiograph machine. This equipment provides Dr. Betar with 3-Dimensional imaging for the most precise and safe placement of dental implants. Since 2005, Dr. Betar has placed and restored over 500 dental implants successfully.
Betar Dental has acquired the service of a Board-Certified Dental Anesthesiologist to provide I.V. general anesthesia to those patients who are fearful of dental procedures or those who require extensive dental therapy. These services are perfomed at the office of Betar Dental & Associates.
Dr. Betar has recently obtained his Restricted I Anesthesia Permit, which allows him to provide IV moderate sedation to children thirteen years of age and older and also adults. He has also been able to provide nitrous oxide sedation since receiving his Restricted II Anesthesia Permit in March of 2013. These services are offered in the comfort of our office.
I love Betar Dental. The techniciansand doctors are compassionate and understanding I suffer a great deal of anxiety when seeing the dentist. They all tell me what they are doing and give me frequent breaks. I highly recommend.

I have now had two appointments at this dentist for my three year old son Luca. The dental assistant has been very patient and kind to him. It made the experience go much easier.

My son and daughter used to go here, dr betar was rude and inconsiderate to my children, 1st off my son has autism and actually likes to go to the dentist but he gets anxious and and then wants to stop which bothered him and he was short and rude to us both, instead of being friendly and helpful he just stormed out of the room, 2nd my daughter is scared of the dentist and when she was there he walked in and literally threw up his hands and says "I don't have time for this" and stormed out of the room, again, we then received a letter from there office stating they couldn't treat our family anymore because he said I was rude, both times I didn't say anything to him or his staff, truth is is his staff was nice and understanding and I was appreciative, but I never made any rude remarks or anything out of line with them, we'll never go there for anything ever again, I did call the office to ask what happened and they couldn't answer me and said they would call me back but I never received that call, there are many different routes I could take but this I felt was the best to alert anyone who's thinking about going here if I could leave a negative star I would

Overall I had an excellent experience with Dr. Betar and his office. They performed many procedures over two years that cost thousands of dollars. Dr. Betar is a very talented dentist who appears well-versed in his field. Overall very competent. His staff is well trained and executes their duties professionally. Unfortunately, my wife's experience in this office differed significantly from mine. Her overall experience with the staff was not as good as mine. She did not appreciate Dr. Betar's unwillingness to discuss treatment options. This all led to them dismissing her as a patient. The dismissal was because she did not accept his treatment plan. This was very frustrating because he never took the time to discuss treatment plans or offer options. He failed to explain what and why. Because they dismissed my wife, they also dismissed me. They told me their policy states that if one family member is dismissed, the whole family gets let go. I found this to be very disappointing. I had never given them a hard time about anything and accepted Betar's treatment plans without any pushback. Finding a competent dentist and becoming established with them takes time and money. Being dismissed by Betar's office was very frustrating. They were unwilling to discuss the situation with me to come to a resolution that did not involve me being dismissed along with my wife. I was not allowed to talk to anyone beyond the front desk.

Horrible place, rude staff that calls you repeatedly. Doesn't feel like dealing with insurance companies so they try to have you pay the bill. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Edited to add: My 2 children all had sealants put on their teeth last year. Our new dentist confirmed there are no sealants on their teeth anymore. So who knows how long they actually lasted.

Best experience by far with children. From being put under to get caps on cavities, to normal cleanings. My daughter is 8 and LIKES the Dentist. Will always recommend this establishment.

Always a great experience with Dr. Betar and his staff. I've taken my nieces and nephews there for routine appointments many times and every time was a great experience. They are extremely knowledgeable and take very good care of their patients. My child went in for fillings under sedation and they reached out to follow up after six months to make sure there were no allergic reactions! Top notch, best hands down with children, and from what I understand he will take any child with any insurance! No child left behind! 10/10 We need more medical professionals like Dr. Betar, who care about the children more than the money!

I switched all of children to him about 2 years ago they are amazing there my kids actually don't mind going to the dentist now and nurse Jackie and nurse Nandi were absolutely amazing with my twins. Everyone is always so friendly and very easy to deal with

Nandi is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! She has been my son's Dental Hygienist for at least the past 6 years. She is comforting and understanding to any and all questions we may have. If he is having a bad day or in pain she takes care of it right away. She carries on a conversation with both of us the entire visit. We hope she never leaves!! We Love You Nandi!!

They've done great work with my children. Highly recommend to anyone with young kids. Staff is friendly, pleasant, and gentle. They were able to easily repair work done by another dentist for my daughter and she is no longer afraid to go to the dentist.

I hate this place to the core!. My daughter was suppose to get her fillings and caps and we came early around 7am then the doctor said we had to wait for 6 hours I believe that's around 1pm so we are not from this town so we had to sit and wait plus I had my 4 kids with me smh , 1 o'clock comes around and my daughter goes in, then he says he cant see HER intel 3!? And was treating us like he didnt want to speak to us I guess because we are blk so we left, this place nj is so so horrible I do not recommend to noone! I rate this place negative 10-
