Dr Andrew Bookwalter is a board certified fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After attending University of Maryland for undergraduate studies in engineering, he earned his DDS at Ohio State in 2003. He entered service in the US Navy in 2003 and completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at Naval Medical Center San Diego. Follow his GPR he was transferred to Okinawa Japan where he finished a 3 year general dentistry tour. He began his oral surgery training in July 2007 at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and finished in 2011. Following training, he was stationed on the USS Eisenhower (CVN 69) and completed two deployments as Strike Group VIIIs oral maxillofacial surgeon. In 2013, he transferred to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth where he served as a staff oral surgeon to the OMS, GPR, and AEGD resident programs in addition to assuming the responsibilities of department head of Naval Station Norfolk Oral Surgery clinic.
Dr. Bookwalter maintains an active dental license and class III anesthesia permit in the state of Maryland. He is an active member of local and national dental organizations. He has lectured to the local dental societies.
Dr Bookwalter practices full scope oral surgery. His main focus of practice is dental alveolar surgery and implant surgery. He is also is proficient in pathology, infections, and trauma. Dr. Bookwalter maintains privileges at Atlantic General Hospital (AGH).

Dr. Bookwalter and his staff make you very comfortable. They listen and actually care. My grandson (15) had his 4 wisdom teeth out and they've called twice to check on him. Even though you'll have a wait, he is well worth it.

Had an appointment at 0830, arrived at 0800 and they weren't open. Went to rite aid to get supplies for after the surgery, got back there at 0830 and they canceled my appointment for not being 15 minutes early.

Dr. Bookwalter is an outstanding Oral Surgeon. He is kind, gentle, knowledgeable, and takes his time to ensure you are well taken care of throughout the entire process including several follow up calls after surgery which he personally makes.

Dr.Bookwalter and his team at Berlin Oral Surgery are great! I got my wisdom teeth pulled out on friday in the am without being put to sleep, only local anesthesia. The doctor called me the same day to check how I was feeling. Took me 6 years to convince myself to get the surgery done but at the end I had Great experience! Thank you Dr. Bookwalter!

I had a wisdom teeth extraction and the process went fabulously. Dr. Bookwalter was very transparent with any questions I had and I am healing great! He is hands down one of the best dentists I've been too and even called to check in twice after surgery! I highly recommend.

from making the appointment to the day of treatment and the follow up call, dr Bookwalter and his staff were excellent. they offered great customer service, happily answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease. this is the second time I've had to see dr Bookwalter and each time he did a fantastic job, always told me what was happening and educated me on best options. I would highly recommend him and the office even though I'm hoping I don't have to go back after I'm done with this treatment : )
