Dr. Michael Berger, a native of Florida, had the good fortune of visiting Colorado as a teen. The endless outdoor activities and the beauty of the Rocky Mountains left a lasting impression. He knew from a young age that one day he wanted to call Colorado his home.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami, Dr. Berger moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvanias School of Dental Medicine. He had the honor of being the first dental student to serve on the Universitys Institutional Review Board an administrative body that protects the rights and welfare of all human research subjects.
Following dental school, Dr. Berger had the privilege to stay at the University of Pennsylvania to attend the two-year orthodontic residency program. Dr. Berger was awarded by the University of Pennsylvania for his research on the relationship between narrow maxillae and pediatric sleep apnea, and the subsequent effects of rapid palatal expansion. During residency, Dr. Berger met his wife Crystal, who was a dental student.
Dr. Berger worked in private practice for 5 years in central Florida before moving to Colorado to put down roots and start a family. He and his wife recently welcomed the birth of their son, Maximilian.
Dr. Berger is committed to staying current with advances in orthodontics and technology. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Rocky Mountain Association of Orthodontists.
Its more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment. Watch the two videos below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
What can you eat? Lets talk about what you shouldnt eat! For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables. Before long, youll be able to bite a cucumber again. But youll need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as youre wearing braces.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for 3 5 days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headache or discomfort. The lips, cheeks and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the braces. We will supply wax to put on the braces in irritated areas to lessen discomfort.
To successfully complete orthodontic treatment, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaws can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Lack of cooperation following instructions and damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time so please follow instructions.

I've had two previous orthodontists, and Dr. Berger is by far my favorite. I moved from out of town and had issues with my permanent retainers. I was able to get an appointment quickly and without any crazy fees. Dr. Berger was thorough, answered all of my questions, and laid out all of my options for treatment and costs. He seems to care a lot about his patients' experiences, and I had only positive interactions with his staff. I will continue to drive to his office from downtown Denver if I ever have any issues again!

A big A+ for Dr Berger and his staff!! Called them at 8:30 today (a Monday morning) with an emergency. My niece was flying into town today at 11:30 from Arkansas with a wire problem on her braces. We needed to get her fixed asap as we have a busy activity schedule for her 6 day vacation here. They contacted her Ortho in Little Rock and made time to fix her up today at 4 pm. We are very impressed with their professionalism and they were very kind to her. Highly recommend Berger Orthodontics

Dr. Berger made all the difference for me in forming a treatment plan. Mine was an unusual situation and he reviewed all pertinent records and images, as well as consulting with my oral surgeon, in order to have all of the relevant information. Dr. Berger explained the pros and cons of different approaches so that I was able to make a truly informed decision. I am so pleased with the outcome based on his advice. Dr. Berger and his staff are very nice and take whatever time is necessary. The office is beautiful and has all the latest technology. I highly recommend this orthodontic practice.

Berger Orthodontics is the best in Arvada/Boulder! I am a practicing orthodontist in Utah, and had a patient that recently moved to Boulder, and needed updated records to finish her treatment. I reached out to Dr Michael Berger, and he graciously saw her in a very timely manner. She is a customer service expert, and was blown away how she was treated. She used terms like 'They made me feel like part of their family'! This is what every orthodontist wants to hear, because we DO WANT our patients to feel 'at home'. I consulted Dr. Berger about getting invisalign as I wanted to get my teeth fixed for my wedding next year (fingers crossed). This is the nicest Orthodontist's office I have ever been to and obviously it helps that it is brand new. Dr. Berger was very clear about the treatment and he believes i can finish in time which is great. Highly recommend. P.S. great playlist!

Dr Berger is amazing! We are out of state and my daughter had an accident where she damaged her braces and a tooth. Dr Berger worked closely with Dr Betty who is next door, sharing knowledge and expertise. He is so compassionate and caring! Thank you Dr. Berger. I highly recommend this practice to anyone!

I wanted to find an orthodontist that would be sensitive to my concerns of dealing with braces as an adult. Dr. Berger carefully explained the process at my initial consult and at each adjustment. After removal of my braces, digital impressions were made and a 3D printer made my custom aligners in the same day! Perfect fit and comfortable. I was very pleased with my straight teeth and would highly recommend Berger Orthodontics!

Berger Orthodontics goes above and beyond! Dr. Berger is thorough and really knows his stuff. He examine two of my kids and gave me a plan that works for each of them and for spreading out some of the cost for us. And Roz, the office manager, is an integral part of the business. One day, I left my credit card there without even knowing it. She didn't just call me to tell me...she came by my house on her lunch hour and dropped it off! I couldn't ask for better people to care for my kids' smiles!

Dr Berger managed my orthodontics care. He was kind and patient and took my needs into consideration. He adjusted my treatment plan based on my timeline constraints and he educated me each step of the way to ensure I was doing the things I needed to do to ensure a successful treatment plan. 10/10 would recommend this doctor to anyone
