Dr. Benson has been practicing dentistry since 2000. He opened his state-of-the-art practice in 2008, serving adults and children as young as 3 years old. He credits his father, who operated an internal medicine practice for 29 years, with invaluable guidance and inspiration to enter the health care profession.
A graduate of the nationally recognized University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Benson served his dental residency with the U.S. Army before entering a private practice. Dr. Benson is a proud member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Upstate Study Club. He believes in educating patients on an individual basis of treatment options in order for them to choose the best treatment possible. Patients truly appreciate his caring approach and listening ear.
In his personal life, Dr. Benson enjoys the many attributes of the local community, including biking and running the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail which connects Travelers Rest with the city of Greenville. He also likes playing soccer and hiking our local mountain trails. He volunteers his time for worthy causes, including the Free Dental Clinic of Greenville and supports dental health care missions in Third World countries.

As a newcomer to Travelers Rest I have to say what a great Dental office this was. The two ladies at check in made me feel immediately at home and it only took a few minutes for my hygenist to call me back for my appointment. She took time to listen to my past dental experiences some of which had been nightmarish! Following a detailed cleaning, I met Dr Benson who was very professional and caring. I highly recommend this dental office to any who are looking for a calm, caring office to go to.

Love this dental practice. Very personable staff and they never try to tell you you need procedures you don't need. No upsell which we have seen with other dentists. Makes the patients feel very comfortable.

10/26/22 I continue to be grateful for Dr. Benson and his staff. This time I went for a cleaning and everything went well and my teeth are in good shape. This is very good news, following a few years of problems. Throughout those problems, which ultimately involved root canals and implants from the problems of (my) aging teeth, I have received conservative but accurate diagnosis and treatment. Benson Family Dentistry is a five-star operation for me. Thanks to all. 12/27/21 It may sound odd, but I almost like going to the dentist! That's because I appreciate the friendly faces and thoughtful care I get. I was just there last week to check on a tooth that probably needs a root canal. That's not pleasant, but getting good information helps me plan. He and his staff also take time to see a dental procedure through the eyes and feelings of their patients, from scheduling to outcome. They also are comforting and calm. This was my first experience and it want be my last the staff and Dr. Benson was very nice and knowledgeable I had my teeth cleaned and the dental hygienists was very gentle I was a little ify about going on account of my past experiences with dentist but I am very glad I did. Thank yall!!!
