I was born and raised in Illinois. I lived in Colorado for five years before moving back to Illinois. I am married and enjoy being outdoors and gardening. I consider it yard therapy its good for my soul.
I did a career aptitude test when I was young and dental hygiene was a choice I did not know anything about. Fortunately for me, it has been a perfect t for 25 years! The best part of my job is providing a comfortable atmosphere to help patients work through their dental fears and to help them achieve their goals for their dental health.
I enjoy the outdoors. Like I mentioned, gardening is yard therapy because its good for my soul. Im married and we have a home in Wisconsin that we try to enjoy with our family and friends as often as possible. My hero has always been Abe Lincoln he was hard-working, self-taught, courageous, and humane. Also, my mom taught me to always give 100%, and I live by that every day. I believe if I were a flavor of ice cream, I would be mint chip because I am not vanilla Im sweet with bits of fun throughout!
I grew up in a small town in central Michigan and attended Ferris State University for my dental hygiene degree. I moved to Chicago after college, met my husband, and then moved to Arlington Heights, where weve lived for the last eight years and have been raising our three children.
I chose dentistry because Ive always wanted to work in the medical field helping people. After having braces when I was 12, I was fascinated with working with teeth, which led me to a dental hygiene career. And Ive never looked back. I love building relationships with my patients and helping them feel comfortable and relaxed.
I didnt choose dentistry; dentistry chose me. After working in a few other medical related jobs, I met a dentist who introduced me to the eld, and Ive never looked back. The best part of my job is helping people achieve their dental goals and transforming their smiles in a comfortable, calm and fun environment.
When Im outside of work, I love to spend time with my family, husband, baby, 3 dogs, and friends. We love to be out and about and being outdoors. My personal heroes would denitely be my mom and dad, teaching me to be strong, independent, and kind. My mom has always told me to be aware of my surroundings, and I find that taking me through my life and is something I will pass on to my child as he grows. If I were an ice cream flavor, I would be moose tracks because it has all of the best flavors mixed in one.
I have lived in Algonquin for the past 13 years. Now, I have the company of my wonderful 5-year-old daughter, Gizelle! I recently received my dental assistant certificate from Chicago Dental Assisting School.
I always knew I wanted to be in the dental field. I loved the idea that a persons smile, confidence, and health could all be positively affected in the atmosphere of a dental office. I worked in other medical atmospheres prior to becoming a dental assistant. After a few years, I accepted my passion was always meant to be in dentistry, so I went back to school for dental assisting, and I have not looked back!
Im passionate about what I do, and that affects all our patients and members of our team! I feel my humbleness also adds value because, in this field, you will meet people with different backgrounds every day! Its important you know how to genuinely build relations with different patients you encounter.
Outside of work, I love to explore the outdoors by doing things such as hiking or going to different state parks! I love to work out, as well. Its a fun way to relieve any stress and challenge myself daily! On the weekends, I search for new places to travel with my daughter, friends, and family! If I were an ice cream flavor, I would be neapolitan because I have a lot of different flavors mixed into my personality!
The best quote I ever heard is, Nothing changes if nothing changes. If you want something in life, you have to hold yourself accountable to initiate the first step to make a change towards success and happiness!
I chose dentistry through my passion for helping and learning. Theres always something or someone new to learn about in the office, and theres always the chance to change someones day or life! All of my patients feel like family, where I can sit and chat with them for hours before starting a procedure.
I am a full-time dental hygiene student. I hope to be a hygienist in a few years and continue practicing my love for dentistry. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling whenever I get the opportunity.
I grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Illinois, in a large Italian family. I have seven brothers and sisters, and we all keep each other on our toes! Good food and laughter is our mantra, and its something that will always be a big part of my life.
Ive always loved going to the dentist, and I excel in environments that challenge me and are ever-growing. Combining those two and working with patients towards achieving their goals is why I love what I do so much. I value building trusting relationships with my patients, which is why I do everything possible to make them feel comfortable, so they enjoy every step of their smile journey.
I live in the City now. I love being active, so whether its a workout, biking on the lakefront path in Chicago, traveling to a new destination, or just trying a new dining spot with my friends, I like to maximize my time and make the most of it.
I currently live in Lombard but have spent a lot of time out in Schaumburg, so Im pretty familiar with the area. Being the baby of the family, I automatically gained my two best friends, my two older brothers. Were a very close family. Im very passionate about nutrition. In my free time, youll find me working out, spending time with my family and friends, or finding the best wineries around!
Dentistry chose me. Ive always wanted to be in the healthcare field, either nursing or dentistry. Growing up, I was always at the dentist and had FOUR rounds of ortho. (Yes, you read that right!) So, teeth really intrigue me. I have a passion for helping people, and fear of going to the dentist is common. If I can put you at ease with my happy singing and make you feel comfortable about coming here, Ive done my job. Im also not afraid to try new things, making the teams day run as smooth as possible is my ultimate goal.
I love to workout! Its how I maintain my mental health, and I just really enjoy it. Charcuterie is the key to my heart. Making and presenting charcuterie boards while being super creative as I can be is a hobby itself.
Currently, my role at Benjamin Turnwald Dentistry is the marketing director, but I originally joined the team in 2016 as a dental hygienist. Before that, I was a dental assistant, and thats when I fell in love with the dental field. I knew I wanted to be a bigger role in a dental office and connect with patients.
I love to go camping during the summer with my husband, dog, and any friends who want to sleep outside. If we get to stop at a new brewery along the way, then its an added bonus. I also enjoy playing board games, learning new board games, puzzling, and reading any book that could help me be a better human.
I love helping people achieve condent smiles in a safe and comfortable environment. I also love interacting with different patients every day from all walks of life, ethnicities, ages, and personal goals.
I lovereading, renishing antique furniture, and going on nature walks. My personal hero is my dad, who is respected by everyone. The lesson I still live by from my mom is never tell a lie. Honesty is always best! I believe if I were a flavor of ice cream, I would be caramel because its sweet and smooth.
Dentistry chose me! My previous experience in the hospitality industry led me to this welcome change. Im able to cater to our patients, whom I consider our guests when they are in our office. Making them feel comfortable and seeing their beautiful smiles, gives me a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
In my spare time, I enjoy heading out to any local saloon to listen to live music, and kick up my heels on a dance floor to do some country line dance and 2-stepping! Im a first-generation American citizen born from Greek ancestry. Most of my family still resides in Greece, and I look forward to visiting the homeland every chance I get! OPA!If I were an ice cream flavor, I would be Rocky Road because Im a little bit nutty but full of sweetness!
Dentistry is not about the single tooth. Its about the whole picture of your oral and overall health. As general and cosmetic dentists in Schaumburg, our doctors approach your care comprehensively, considering your bite, your tooth position, and health history to plan a strategy with you to get you to tip-top shape.
Every day we strive for clinical excellence combined with developing a trusting relationship with you. Together, we can come up with a lifetime plan to help you keep your teeth, chew comfortably, and smile with confidence.
I absolutely love the environment Dr. Turnwald and his team have created. They take away the natural fear of being at the dentist and make you feel at home. Kim at the front desk is such a sweetheart; she is a true professional who is very patient and understanding. Sarah is probably the most positive person I have ever met and she does an excellent job of keeping my teeth clean! Dr. Turnwald is the BEST OF THE BEST, hands down. He takes his spare time to be up-to-date with the latest technology and methods for modern day dentistry and I feel extremely comfortable with his work. Dr. Turnwald has accommodated to my root canals, custom crowns and the little cavities here and there. The professionalism, ambiance and quality are extremely high at the office that I would encourage anyone to go here FIRST. Even though I currently live in downtown Chicago, I wouldnt take myself anywhere else but here. Thank you to Dr. Turnwald and the entire team keep up the great work!
I am so happy to have found a dental practice that truly gets the anxiety that can come with a visit to the dentist. It has been 5 years for me and they didnt bat an eye. The whole staff is kind, gentle, and makes you comfortable the minute you walk in. Kim, at the front desk, is a whiz with insurance and billing. Sonia gave me a complete tour on my first visit, insuring my comfort. Sarah did a wonderfully thorough yet gentle cleaning for me today. I highly recommend this practice. I will be switching my whole family over to them.
Dr. Turnwald and his team make visiting the dentist a pleasure. The waiting lobby is warm and inviting. The receptionist, Kim, is the first smiling face to greet you. The hygienists are very knowledgeable and thorough. The amenities that Dr. Turnwald provides are top notch from the warm neck pillows, the stylish glare protection glasses, gourmet coffee, cold AND room temp bottled water. Dr. Turnwald is a great dentist and I highly recommend him.
