Dr. Benjamin W. Hsu DMD FICOI is the dentist and owner of a solo private practice, Smiles on Smiles Dental Care, in the Upper West Side rated five-stars well over100 times. For over 40 years in NYC, I had been terribly disappointed and badly served by various expensive, "celebrity " dentists. My gums were severely affected by their lack of attention. Then I found Dr. Hsu. He has, literally, saved me and my mouth. . I can guarantee you that you will not find a kinder, more extraordinary dentist anywhere. He is extremely knowledgeable and will explain all you need to know about your teeth and gums in a kind, simple to understand manner. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Hsu. Once you meet him, you will know what I mean. His staff is just as superb!

I don't remember if I reviewed Dr. Hsu before but let me just say, he had to put in a crown for one of my molars and was able to save my tooth without a root canal (I had terrible pain). The crown has fooled a dental hygienist and even a great dentist at another practice. Even got into a heated discussion with said hygienist who told me she has been doing it for 20 years...and I told her I AM TELLING YOU IT IS A CROWN. Note - I have two other crowns (done at Sinai) from an accident years ago and the color was way off. Can't wait to get those redone by Dr. Hsu. So yeah... that's how phenomenal he is.

Dr.Hsu and his staff are incredible. I was first a patient of Dr.Hsu's when he worked at a different clinic in the UES. When I found out that he no longer worked there, I had to follow him to his new practice in the UWS. The long commute was worth it. In return, I was able to see a compassionate and amazing dentist. You can tell he really loves what he does and keeps up to date with evidence-based care. His staff members are also very professional and competent. I highly recommend Smiles on Smiles Dental Care!.

Dr Hsu is such a gem! As is the entire staff here. What a dream team. I honestly look forward to going to the dentist and go more often than necessary just because I like it so much. During non-Covid times they offer you a glass of water or a hot cup of tea as you wait (but there's barely ever much of a wait). The physical space is very beautiful as well.

Not sure how I came across Dr. Hsu but I have never felt more comfortable in any practice before. As others said he is gentle, caring, respectful and explains everything thoroughly. There is never any pressure to have a procedure done. His staff are the backbone and such wonderful kind people!

We have always had a great experience whenever we go to get seen by Dr Hsu and his team. They are knowledgeable, personable, and really efficient. We have been going there fir the whole family's dental care for over two years and couldn't recommend them any more.

Dr. Hsu is really patient and professional and his staff are super nice and helpful too! It is my best experience so far with a dentist. The office is modern and pretty too. I would highly recommend this practice to my friends.

Dr. Hsu is the best dentist! He and the staff at Smiles on Smiles are so kind, they make you feel welcomed, safe and always greet my husband and me with a huge smile! This is by far the best experience I've ever had with a dentist and that is why we keep recommending them to our friends. Currently I am finishing my Invisalign treatment and I am very happy with the results that I got in such short time! Lastly I would like to highlight that the office is always super clean and they have a great protocol to ensure that COVID guidelines and precautions are enforced for the safety of the patients and staff. Thank you Smiles on Smiles. Bonus points: they gave us goodies bags with all the essentials: travel size toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash and toothbrush. Oh! I love the chapstick, it is the best!

Dr. Hsu is hands down the best dentist I've ever across!! I've been his patient for 3 years (beginning when he was at another practice on the UES) and now commute from Brooklyn to see him. I couldn't imagine having another dentist and hope he never moves away!! I've had fillings, a chipped tooth, whitening and cleanings done by Dr. Hsu. He is the most straight-forward, compassionate, and thorough dentist you'll find. No fear mongering to pressure you into procedures you don't need. Dr. Hsu tries to intervene as minimally as possible while ensuring the health of your teeth (aka carefully monitoring your teeth and in my case a few specific areas before recommending a filling). And when he does recommend a procedure he does so with clarity and visuals so you understand what is being done (this is so important to me and many other dentists become a bit frustrated/impatient explaining what needs to be done, not Dr. Hsu, he is patient and answers all of your questions!). I also have sensitive teeth that of course I wanted whitened before my wedding and Dr. Hsu did an amazing job with a combination of in office whitening and at home trays. I still get compliments on my teeth a year after treatment! Go see Dr. Hsu, your teeth will thank you!

Great experience. From the ease of scheduling, to the kind staff, clarity on insurance and payments, to the excellent dental care, (not to mention Netflix you can watch during the procedures!) this is the dentist that makes one of the least fun things in life be tolerable.

Dr. Hsu, Quyen the hygienist and staff are very professional and friendly. They took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and made me feel like I was at home watching Netflix during my appointment.
