Brooklyn native Dr. Solomowitz graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Education in 1977. He received the Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in 1983. He completed a combined General Practice Residency and Dental Anesthesiology Externship at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in 1985.

In private practice since 1985, Dr. Solomowitz is also part-time Director of Residency Education and Dental Anesthesiologist at Interfaith Medical Center (previously Brooklyn Jewish Hospital). His office in Park Slope, Brooklyn, incorporates dentistry and IV sedation in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Dr. Solomowitz is a Dipolmate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, a Member of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and a Member and past President of the New York State Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is on the staff of New York University College of Dentistry, Division of Pain and Anxiety Control, New York Methodist Hospital, and Long Island College Hospital.

Dr. Solomowitz lectures to hospital and dental study groups, including at the Greater New York Dental Meeting, on anesthesia-related topics. He is the author of many published papers on anesthesia techniques and dentistry.

Continuing education has always been important to me. While still in dental school, I realized that a residency program to learn advanced skills not taught in dental school was a necessity. I have taken continuing education very seriously to this day. So much so, that I have been recognized by the New York State Dental Association for going above the yearly requirement of course work.

Dentistry is constantly changing. Equipment and materials improve and dental concepts evolve. Keeping active teaching in a residency program, writing and lecturing to dental professionals give me an opportunity to share my area of expertise with others. Conversely, taking courses lets me improve my efficiency and keep up with the latest dental concepts to improve the treatment options I offer to my patients.

'As office manager and one of Dr. Solomowitzs patients I am involved in all aspects of the office. I have watched the doctor work hard to achieve and go beyond the expectations of his patients. As a manager I see hands on that the doctor takes his time and puts his heart into his work.

'As Dr. Solomowitz 's assistant, I am involved in seeing all of his dental treatment. I like the way he puts his heart into his work and makes his patients feel that he really cares not just about their teeth but their health as well. As his assistant, I love making our patients smile knowing that their outcome is going to be worth it.'

He's a great dentist, that provides extreme care over all. After each dental procedure , he calls to check up on you , and does a great job with procedures. I was pain free after seeing him. Definitely worth a visit

Great experience. Leslie is awesome and Dr. Solomowitz makes you feel so comfortable. Absolutely no pain during or after procedure. Post procedure phone call from Dr. Solomowitz was much appreciated. Highly recommend this practice.

I cant begin to explain the unsurmountable amount of disappointment from this office. I was so hopeful because I really did think this was a good office. I went in for x-rays. Four hours later .....FOUR....after all x-rays were taken doctor comes back and tells me his machiene is broken and all x-rays needed to be redone. Even though he couldn't develop anything I was still asked at a discount of course to pay $120. First red flag. He was very cautious about any surgery that he agreed I needed because I was a diabetic. First he needed a letter of approval. After going back and forth with my endochrinologist he finally received the letter. Then he needed to have the anesthesiologist approve the procedure. Then he needed to speak with my doctors office again. All the while I had a hole in my mouth that felt like it lead to my brain. I understood to be cautious this was good. But it seemed like he just kept thinking of more and more things he needed to be sure about this surgery. Several weeks went by I finally made an appointment for surgery and thought ok at least I was going to finally get taken care of. Two more weeks went by heard nothing from the office. I call the only one day a week that that they are open to confirm for the surgery and first they don't pick up the phone. Next I was told they couldn't talk because they were with a client and that the doctor would call me back. Finally 6 pm the night before the suppossed surgery I get a call telling me I was lieing they said they never told me the machiene was broken and the reason why there will be no surgery was because I declined treatment. Which that never happened. Now I told the secretary not the doctor I really wanted to leave one tooth alone but would speak with the doctor and confirm after talking to him. Guess that will become a lie as well. They decided to cancel the surgery without saying a word. If I didn't call to find out what was going on I would have gone there for nothing. What kind of a professional office does that??? Bottom line...... this was a COMPLETE waste of time, and I am paying for it. I had to pay them for xrays they couldnt develop and they had the audacity to tell me it was because I couldn't do something with my mouth!!!!!!! When they originally told me it was because of a broken machiene. The secretary lies and lies. She is not honest at all about what she is doing. The doctor although very gentle something is off. I am going to think this was a blessing in disguise. To think I was going to put my life in their hands. When something would go wrong I wonder what lie they would tell. Very dishonest people. Consider being warned. Go at your own risk.

An ethical, competent dentist! I have insurance and otherwise wouldn't have to spend money on a dentist but the level of care I've experienced from my "insurance covered" dentists is not the same at all. It's worth it to me to spend the money to see Dr. Solomowitz. I like having teeth. I use them every day!

Dr. was great. Receptionist/nurse was not upfront about lack of insurance coverage though, even though she looked closely at my card that I handed to her and gave it back to me after a few minutes. Card clearly says it's the provider's responsibility to inform me of our coverage. My husband and I paid over $400 for our annual regular check up without xrays, and I've since found out the visit will not be covered. Frustrating. Of course I'll be checking beforehand with the next dentist; I will not be returning to this dentist for this lack of candidness.

A great dentist who loves history. He recently did research on George Washington's teeth so he has experience with chompers from many age groups.
