Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss. Gum disease has two primary stages. If diagnosed and treated in the first stage, the condition can be reversed and tooth loss can usually be prevented. In order to prevent gum disease,practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist for cleanings and check-ups twice a year.
This stage only affects the soft tissue of the gums, and the patient may not experience any discomfort. Although the symptoms may be very mild, it is important to diagnose gum disease in this early stage before it progresses to periodontitis.
Periodontitis is the name for more advanced periodontal disease and if permitted to progress to this point, not only the gums are affected but the bone structures supporting the teeth will be compromised.
A build-up of bacteria causes Gingivitis. In its early stages, inflammation around the gums is observable, with gum tissues appearing red and swollen. Gums that are easily irritated or that bleed during tooth brushing indicate the presence of Gingivitis. Removal of the plaque buildup is necessary to prevent the development of gum disease.
As the gums become more inflamed, they start to pull away from the teeth, forming spaces known as periodontal pockets. Food, bacteria, and plaque begin to collect in the pockets, leading to infection. The surrounding bone becomes damaged both by bacterial toxins and by the immune systemsresponse to infection.

Dr. Pitluck is hands down the best dentist I've ever had! Coming from someone who was absolutely terrified of the dentist, her and her assistant Jackie make sure I have the best experience every time. I had a complicated case with a particular tooth that needed a lot of work, and she was determined to ensure a perfect outcome. I'm so happy I found this practice- everyone is so caring and helpful! Added bonus- she plays the best music on her Alexa!

Over the many years that I have been a patient at Belmont Family Dentistry, I have consistently been impressed with what an excellent job all their practitioners do. They are very patient focused, and committed to providing the best care. I have been a patient there for more than 30 years and have had all my children treated there as well. I was at the office recently and realized that I have never posted a review so I decided to post this today. I recommend them without reservation.

Dr. Elizabeth Brachowicz is the best dentist I've ever seen. I've seen other dentists at two different dental clinics but didn't like them. I finally found "Belmont Family dentistry" and really like Dr. Brachowicz. She is very knowledgable and really cares about her patients. Other stuffs in the clinic are also well trained and friendly. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a family dentist.

The original post below holds true but remarkably, the new primary DMD at Belmont Family Dentistry, is equally superb. The practice has changed over many years, and COVID naturally added more complexity but Dr. Brachowitz leads a practice of honest open discussions, leaving time to ask questions and clarify all things oral health. The staff, new and more tenured, are compassionate, knowledgeable... it goes on. I generally recommend this practice anytime someone asks! "My family and I have been going to Belmont Family Dentistry for at least 20 years. Dr. Ficalora is remarkable in her willingness to have frank discussions about tooth health and she is a very skilled dentist. The various hygienists we have seen over the years are knowledgeable and provide high quality of care. They provided a comfort-level for our child as he grew. The front desk staff is very savvy about all things billing, they provide options for scheduling, and they return calls promptly. We feel very lucky to be in the area where we can be their patients."

These people deserve real gold stars. If I posted my email chain to them you'd be annoyed. Not them, they are so nice and so patient. The office is cute and cozy, everyone in there with good and happy attitudes. Lisa plays the best jams on her Alexa. It does feel like a family in there, I'm happy I found them.

These folks are fantastic. My husband is terrified of the dentist. They make him feel safe and comfortable. He uses a wheelchair wich didn't bother them all. Just another day in the life of dentist. Thanks guys!!?

The hygienist is very caring and upbeat! She offered me water and tried to make me feel comfortable. I had a crown procedure 6 months ago and the dentist is so gentle and offers you a break from drilling if you need one.

Standard cleaning was efficient and pain free. Belmont Family Dentistry is friendly, caring, and informative. Since starting here my gums have been improving instead of going in the other direction. I am so grateful!

Best dental visit to memory, 10/10 recommend! I was anxious to visit the dentist for a routine exam after some time of neglect. The staff were friendly, welcoming, respectful, and no step in the process felt rushed. Quiet and clean office with thorough covid safety precautions in place. My visits to Belmont Family Dentistry have all been a great experience. I had broken a tooth and called to see if they could help me even though I was not a patient of theirs. They were able to accommodate me in their schedule and were able to resolve my issue and placed a temporary crown. Dr. Brachovicz and the staff are so friendly and always treat you nicely. This is now our whole family dentist

Dr Brachowicz is great. She replaced a filling today in an area that she said was quite sensitive. I never knew that she was giving me a shot of Novocain; I literally did not feel the shot. Whole procedure was quick and painless. Plus she is super nice and friendly.

I have gone to Belmont Family Dentistry for years and am very relieved that even though it changed owners, it still has a wonderful atmosphere and outstanding staff. Susan, my hygienist, had excellent hands and showed much concern for the health of my teeth. I can highly recommend them to anyone, looking for dental care. Adding to my previous review: Arni, my hygienist this past year has been wonderful. She really cares about my teeth, encouraging good habits and thoroughly cleaning my teeth so that they feel great. She has good hand, so I'm very comfortable and never feel any pain. Dr. Liz is excellent too. I'm grateful for all the care I have received from them.

I am one of those people that has a "slight" fear of the dentist. My son discovered Belmont Family Dentistry and highly recommend it to me. He was right. It was a very good experience. Dr Kuntz and Gail my hygienist were both very thorough and extremely kind. They put me at ease immediately. The front desk employees are organized and very helpful. I highly recommend this practice.
