Originally from Mankato, MN, Dr. Petersen received his bachelors degree as well as his dental degree from the University of Minnesota. After a one year residency at the University, he opened the Lakeville practice in 1991. Dr. Petersen and his wife and children have lived in Lakeville since 1993.
Originally from St. Paul, MN, but has lived in Prior Lake since 1985. After receiving his degree from the University of Minnesota in 1996, Dr. Watzl spent six years in the Air Force split evenly between Sacramento, CA and Anchorage, AK. Since leaving the Air Force in 2002, Dr. Watzl has been workinig as an associate for Dr. Petersen. Dr. Watzl and his wife live in Prior Lake.

Our family absolutely loves coming to BP Family Dental. They are friendly, efficient and make our child feel so comfortable. Our son used to hate the dentist after one bad experience elsewhere and now he likes going. Thank you for all you do!

Hank , the Dentist transformed a broken eye tooth and decay along my gumline on another tooth into beautiful natural looking teeth . I do not have dental insurance and found the cost very affordable .This will be my permanent new Dentist for all of my oral health needs , I could not be any happier with my results .

They are very sensitive to those with dental anxiety. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The entire staff is always welcoming and considerate. A dental office with honesty and integrity. Best dentist around!

I haven't been to the dentist in a very long time and was nervous about going to a new clinic. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very kind and helpful. I didn't have to wait very long for my appointment. Dr. Watzl and the staff were very caring and answered all my questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend Belle Plaine Family Dental to family and friends. I am very pleased with my experience.

So far have had great experiences here! I have several issues with my teeth due to over a decade of not being able to afford to go to the dentist. They haven't lectured me about my teeth and have been very helpful in providing a plan forward. Had a root canal there yesterday and have no pain today! Plus this place is a preferred place for my insurance plan

Called today as i moved to the area. The receptionist was SUPER rude and asked if i checked to see if insurance was in network. I asked why they don't do that for their own patients and she gave me a snobby response and said i can book if i like but they are booking out to April. I hung up, their website definitely does NOT describe their clinic correctly.
