Dr. Allison Piper purchased the practice and renamed it Belfast Dental Care in 2014. She has found her calling, building on the tremendous base of Dr. John Slaughter 's forty years of work, laser-focused on providing excellence in dentistry and a wonderful experience for each patient. Dr. Piper is passionate about the Vision for Belfast Dental Care, for both patients and colleagues. 'Oral health is too important and too personal to our patients not to give it everything we 've got,' she says.
Dr. Piper grew up in the Hudson Valley of New York, each summer visiting family DownEast in Franklin, Maine. At 18 years old, she moved to Boston to attend Boston University. She experimented with several career paths, then found dentistry, first as a volunteer dental assistant for Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, and hasnt looked back.
A 2011 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Piper moved to Belfast in 2012 with her wife, Lindsey, to be closer to both of their families (and the promise of free babysitting!). They have since had two beautiful daughters, Ruby and Colette, who are the center of their universe. When not running a small business, every moment is spent with family and friends. She feels incredibly blessed to have so many wonderful people in her life.
She is a graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska and has practiced general dentistry for over 30 years in Missouri, Louisiana and also Florida, where she owned her own practice.
After years of visiting Maine, she has finally made it her home. When she sold her Florida practice, Dr. Addington and her husband, Chris, completed the Great Loop on their boat, then headed north to Belfast.

We accept direct payments from all insurance carriers and will assist you to process your claims. We are in-network with Delta Dental and accept their reimbursements at Delta Dental rates. For all other carriers, patients are responsible for the difference between the carrier's reimbursement and our regular fees. We no longer accept MaineCare.

I hadn't been to the dentist for over 6 years due to moving, the pandemic and fear of facing the results of this neglect. Every person from reception to the Doctor was exceptionally kind and patient. I sincerely appreciate it. I don't give reviews often, but when I do, I'm honest! I told them when I left that I would give a 5 star review and I stand behind it. Thank you!

Patient on record. Called with an emergency, broken tooth and half of my face swollen. Was greeted coldly at reception and couldn't see me for two weeks. Pretty shabby!

Very poor service and very expensive charges way more than should last visit was 300.00 sat in chair 50 minutes she should be looked rip off,called my insurance lady ,she checked other clients in plan other dentist charge 6-10 dollar more than they insurance covers her advice was to find another dentist also I've work 35 years retail if client had a issue would alway try to explain their issue Never heard a word from Belfast dental that tells me there about the money not there client thanks for your time

I adore this office! As someone with dental anxiety I am so grateful for Dr. Piper and her team. The front desk is clear and professional and the clinical staff is patient and kind. My teenage son, and I and my father in law (88) have all had teeth pulled here and they are fabulous. Warm blankets and weighted blankets really help. It is like a spa (but they have drills). Thank you Belfast Dental Care!

We're here in Belfast on vacation. My husband got some food stuck in his gum area and it became very irritated. We looked up participating providers for our insurance and lucked out by going to Belfast Dental Care. They were extremely accommodating, took care of him quickly and didn't charge a penny. Don't hesitate to schedule your appointment here!

I am a hard to impress type person when it comes to dentists. Dr Piper and her whole staff is AMAZING! They go the extra mile and she strives for perfection. I have had cosmetic work and basic dental care done and she is just phenomenal!! They are all easy to talk to and fun to be around and that makes the dental experience just that much better. I love my dentist! A night and day difference! Amazing color match and I couldn't be happier!

I was contacted on a cancellation list and I said I'd take the appointment and call back the same day to confirm that I could arrange leaving from work, or let them know I couldn't take the appointment if I couldn't arrange it with work. When I called back to let them know I rearranged my work schedule to come in the next day, they had filled the slot and had not reserved it for me. Frustrating. The girl who answered the phone didn't even try to understand the conversation I had just had with the woman who called me about the cancellation and just kept repeating the next available appointment time. More frustrating. I wrote an email in the contact us section expressing my frustration - no response. Then when my appointment time did come they cancelled it the morning of because I hadn't confirmed it. They then cancelled all following appointments. The customer service there is terrible and I would never recommend Belfast Family Dental to anyone.

I have been going here for thirty years. It always has been staffed by exceptional dentist and hygienist, assistants and others helping people with appointments, payments etc. I brought all my children here too. It iisbest place for both emergency and long term dental care car, by people who know what they are doing.

Belfast Dental Care is amazing! This is the first time in my life that I DO NOT mind going to the dentist. Dr. Piper and her crew are outstanding! When you walk into the office, staff like Carly & Betsy upfront greet you as if you are walking into someone's home. In the back there are always, BJ, Chris, & Carly to keep the fun going. I know that the quality of the work being done will last. I have never been asked.......what do you want from us?....preserve, replace, maintain??? Thank you Belfast Dental.....I know I am in good hands!!
