The best part of my job is making people smile. When I joined the office in 1997 as a high school senior I only got to see a glimpse of what was so great about what we do. After finishing school I rejoined the team as a clinical assistant in 2002 and have since enjoyed seeing the magic of making smiles every day. I work hard with patients on education, cooperation and good oral hygiene, and help all patients understand the importance of everything we do, every step of the way. It is important to me that my patients love coming to see me. I want to be the best part of their day!
When I am not building lasting friendships with my orthodontic family I love to be at home with my husband and two teenagers,Braedon and BreeAnn. I love piling on the couch to watch movies and eat junk food when I can't play outside, and camping and 4-wheeling when I can.
2020 brought me to Dr. Bedonts team, as I was very eager to start something new. I made the transition into the dental world after 15 years working in medical. Being part of the team and knowing our job is to help our patients smile really makes coming to work each day exciting and worthwhile.
Growing up I knew I wanted to either work in the dental field or be a baker. Right out of high school I got my start in the dental field as a receptionist in a dental office. In a few months I realized my true desire was actually treating patients in the clinic. I followed that desire and have never looked back. I love my career as an orthodontic assistant! It is very satisfying, even exciting, to be a part of changing one of our patients lives by straightening their smile. Theres nothing better than seeing that great big brace-free grin the day the braces come off!
Prior to working at Bedont Orthodontics, I began by healthcare career working over five years for a medical device company that provided research tools to public health professionals worldwide. After completing dental assisting school I was able to join the team at Bedont Orthodontics.
After high school I went to dental assisting school and I found my passion for orthodontics. My goal each day at work is to help people gain confidence in their new smile and have a great and fun ortho experience throughout their treatment, and build a friendship.
When I am not putting my gloves on and making your teeth sore I will probably be outside every possible moment. You will be able to find me out riding dirt bikes, working on my truck, or on the lake with friends.
My journey to the dental field began as a middle schooler, when I got to have orthodontic treatment. I was amazed at how the changes to my smile made my self-confidence soar. No more fangs. I knew then that I wanted to be part of this process for others too. I became a dental assistant in a general practice in 1984 and got my dream job in an orthodontic office in 2004. I enjoy the outcomes and transformation for each patient we treat. Ive seen patients and their children come through orthodontics and friendships have been made.
Dr. Curtis Bedont is a highly trained, board certified specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Innovative and invested in the highest quality technology, Dr. Bedont has been providing comprehensive orthodontic care since 2005.
He received his Bachelors of Science degree at BYU and then went on to receive his dental education at Oregon Health Sciences University, graduating in 2001. While in dental school he was awarded the Army Health Professions Scholarship.
Dr. Bedont entered the military after dental school and was lucky enough to get his first assignment to Hawaii at Schofield Barracks. While serving in Hawaii he deployed to Iraq in 2004 as a general dentist serving in several locations, including a few months at the infamous Abu Ghraib Prison. After practicing four years as a general dentist he began his orthodontic residency in Texas at the prestigious Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program at Wilford Hall Medical Center and received board certification by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Interestingly, all orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete Board Certification.
Dr. Bedont completed his last tour of duty at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina as an orthodontist where he was on the teaching staff for the AEGD Residency, teaching orthodontics to general dentistry residents. He really enjoyed teaching and found it very rewarding to see the residents increase in knowledge during their program.
He was also a member of the Orthognathic Board at Womack Army Medical Center, meeting twice a month with the oral surgery staff and residents to discuss his patients requiring orthognathic surgery. Dr. Bedont truly enjoyed his nine years of military service and considers it an honor to have served his country.
Dr. Bedont is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, Oregon Dental Association and the Multnomah Dental Society. He is also a member of the Vanguard Society of the American Association of Orthodontist Foundation.
He is married to his wife, Jody, and they have three wonderful children, Julia, Jacob and Anna. The Bedont family has enjoyed experiencing life in different locations while Dr. Bedont received his education and served in the military, but they are happy to be able to settle down in the beautiful Northwest.
