Dr. Richard Hesbys practice is limited to the dental specialty of orthodontics. He received his specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he also earned his dental degree. Before specialty training in orthodontics, Dr. Hesby served in the United States Navy as a general dentist onboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.
During his tour in the Navy he also completed a hospital-based residency program in general dentistry at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Before pursuing his career in dentistry, Dr. Hesby graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Through the NROTC program, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and was selected for the Navys Nuclear Power program where he served onboard a nuclear submarine in Groton, CT.
Dr. Hesby is a board certified orthodontist and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Society, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Middlesex District Dental Society.

We had a fantastic experience at Bedford Orthodontics. Explanations from Dr. Hesby were clear and understandable, scheduling appointments was easy and accommodating, the office staff was warm and welcoming, and we were very pleased with the end result -- our daughter's beautiful smile!

Dr. Hesby and Bedford Orthodontics are amazing. Everyone is so nice, so helpful and my kids love going there (as much as a kid can love getting braces ). They are great at fitting my kid in for a broken bracket, for working with my crazy schedule and they have the best mouthguards to protect my kid's teeth during football/hockey.

Dr. Hesby has been amazing with both of our kids. When we thought we were in for years of complicated orthodontic treatment for our son, he advised us to watch for a year - and sure enough things straightened out a lot on their own and our son had a shorter course of treatment. We deeply appreciate Dr. Hesby's practical and candid approach, the terrific nature among his staff, and the wonderful results for our kids.
