Beckwith F Richard

Berthoud, CO 80513

His full name is Frank Richard Beckwith, but his friends call him Rick. Here at the office, we call him Dr. B. Dr. Beckwith is a Colorado native who received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degrees from the University of Colorado. He graduated as the valedictorian of his dental class in 1994 and received his Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and his orthodontic specialty certificate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1996.

Dr. Beckwith purchased our Longmont officein 1996 and opened our second part-time location in Berthoud in 2008. He makes his home in Longmont with his wife, Dr. Carmen Beckwith, a dentist practicing in Berthoud, and their children, Zack and Lindsay. In addition to his ongoing passion for orthodontics, Dr. Beckwith enjoys running, skiing, triathlon training, and watching his children participate in their many activities.

Dr. B is driven to be the best orthodontist that he can be. In striving to achieve that goal, he treats every patient, parent and office team member with the utmost respect, always taking the time to answer questions and keep everyone informed of all aspects of treatment. Being the best involves more than just providing the highest quality and best looking orthodontic results. Because the orthodontic profession is continually improving and changing, Dr. Beckwith reads and attends extensive and ongoing continuing education to remain aware of the latest advancements in orthodontic techniques and materials. Being mindful of research and development in orthodontics also allows Dr. Beckwith to introduce new technologies in our office as soon as they are proven to be successful and beneficial to our patients.

Dr. Beckwith has completed all aspects of his orthodontic specialty board certification and has been awarded lifetime certification by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Historically, only about 20% of orthodontists have completed all aspects required for board certification.

His masters thesis was an Evaluation of Factors that affect the Duration of Orthodontic Treatment. Due to its quality and relevance, the resulting article was published with high priority by the main journal for the orthodontic profession, the Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in April 1999. His research continues to be cited and referenced regularly by subsequent authors.

Dr. Beckwiths favorite parts of being an orthodontist are getting to know his patients as individuals and seeing that first beautiful/handsome and joyous smile when we have completed treatment and removed the orthodontic appliances.

With an average of 15 years of orthodontic and dental experience, our office team is trained and skilled at offering exceptional orthodontic treatment and care. Providing energetic and fun-loving, but always professional service to each patient, our team members share a strong commitment to continually deliver the very best orthodontic care. We regularly attend continuing education courses and seminars in order to stay at the top of our profession.

I am one of the Treatment Coordinators you may meet at your first visit. My goal is to educate each patient about their treatment plan and to make them comfortable and excited to start their treatment. I enjoy getting to know our patients and their families and seeing how happy patients/parents are with their smiles. I am also the person who will be coordinating and working closely with your insurance company.

I started my career working as a pediatric dental assistant before joining Dr. Beckwiths team in 2014. As an orthodontic technician, I enjoy working with our patients and watching their confidence grow through their smile transformation.

I am a Colorado native born and raised in Longmont. I have a son who keeps me very busy and on my toes. In my free time, I hang out with family and friends or go to a young moms group that Ive been a part of for 6 years.

I started my career as an orthodontic assistant in 2010 and I joined Dr. Beckwiths team in 2015. I love what I do; my favorite part of my job is the relationships we develop with our patients throughout their treatment. It is very rewarding to see how orthodontics can transform someones confidence while improving their dental health.

As a clinical assistant and lab technician, I get to assist Dr. Beckwith with patient care and also make orthodontic appliances such as retainers. Ive been working with Dr. Beckwith since 1997 and I enjoy helping our patients achieve a gorgeous smile and watching them grow from children to young adults.

As a Colorado native, I spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying this beautiful state. You can often find me cruising around town on my single speed cruiser, paddle boarding Lake Macintosh, golfing or enjoying the time I get to spend with my grandkids.

I had the privilege to start my career here at Mountain View Orthodontics after receiving my CDC certificates in the spring of 2017, Im excited to grow and improve my skills every day with the help of my great teammates. I already love what I do; therefore, youll always catch me with a smile on my face.

I have been an orthodontic assistant since 2002. I love being a part of our patients smile transformations. When Im not working, I love spending time with my husband and 3 kids as well as our English Bulldog.

Specialty board certification is elective for orthodontists. Thats right. An orthodontist does not have to be Board Certified in order to practice orthodontics, and a general dentist practicing orthodontics cannot become board certified because a general dentist has not undergone the additional 2-3 years of training that it takes to become an actual orthodontist. Historically, only about 1 in 5 orthodontists completed all the requirements for full certification with the American Board of Orthodontics. Why? Because it is not easy. In order to increase the number of orthodontists who can claim to be certified, the American Board of Orthodontics has changed its policy to allow orthodontists to advertise that they are board certified if they have begun the certification process but not yet presented their completed treatment results to the Board. This can create confusion for the general public regarding which orthodontists have truly completed all aspects required for American Board of Orthodontics Certification. Years later, even with the relaxed standards, still only about 20% of all orthodontists are fully board certified.

In the real world of being a husband, dad and private practice orthodontist, it is difficult to make yourself go the extra step. I am glad that I completed the orthodontic specialty board certification process. I would encourage all of my peers to do the same. Becoming ABO certified does not necessarily make you better than other orthodontists, but the process of critical evaluation and analysis of my own work has definitely made me a better orthodontist than I was before. Dr. Rick Beckwith

Our office has been voted the #1 orthodontic office in Longmont by our peers in the dental community as published by Denvers 5280 Magazine every year since 2008. In 2013-2021, we have shared the top honors. The top orthodontist results were published in the May issue.

  • Dr. Beckwith has taken the extra steps to achieve his American Board of Orthodontics certification.Historically, only 20% of orthodontists have completed ALL aspects of their board certification. To achieve this certification means that Dr. Beckwithpassed a comprehensive written examination covering all aspects of orthodontics. Many orthodontists stop here as Board Eligible. Dr. Beckwith continued on and completed an in-person oral examination with Board examiners to assess his treatment planning abilities, orthodontic thought processes, and knowledge of past and present research in orthodontics. Lastly, the most challenging aspect of Board Certification, Dr. Beckwith also presented patients to the Board that we have treated in our office. Many orthodontic Board candidates initially fail and have to redo part or all of the exam. Dr. Beckwith aced all aspects in his first attempt. These patient records are on display in our on deck patient area.
  • Experience. Dr. Beckwith knows he is a better orthodontist now than when he began in private practice in 1996. There is no substitute for the knowledge that has been gained from treating what is now thousands of orthodontic patients. We have a highly skilled, experienced orthodontic team that takes great pride in continuing to learn and implement the latest proven technologies in orthodontic care.
