Dr. Barder is originally from Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Temple Dental School in Philadelphia after which he completed a residency in general dentistry at the VA in Lebanon, PA. He has over 5 years of experience in family dentistry and really enjoys working with and getting to know his patients.
Dr. Barder moved to Maine four years ago with his wife (a Bowdoin graduate) and he has fallen in love with the states plethora of outdoor activities (as his wife told him he would). He and his wife have a daughter along with a menagerie of animals. In their spare time, they enjoy working on their small farm in Southern Maine and exploring Maine with their three labradors.

I'm new to your practice due to health Insurance changed . And I must say I'm very glad that happened. Your staff is very kind and polite and understanding. I love the young lady at the front desk she's very positive and polite . I love that she text me and keeps me informed about everything. She does such a great job . I have a brain injury so I'm a little slow she understands and just takes great care of me. You have a great location easier to get to. I love that the Business is in a home very cozy clean and calming . The Dentist himself is very kind understanding he listens to what you need he does not try to upsell things . He makes great recommendations, if you can do them and does not make you feel bad if you can't. And works with you . His dental hygienist assistant is awesome . I am a heavy black coffee drinker my teeth yellow she worked so hard to get that stain off and she did . She has a very kind voice and a pleasure to deal with . I'm very appreciative I found them . I am 43 and haven't had any dental work done since I was 18. The staff was very supportive and helpful with working with me to get the necessary dental work done that I needed. It was done with both a budget and priorities in mind. The entire process has been very professional and respectful. I highly recommend the crew at Bear Paw Dental.

I like the way staff communicates between appointments. This office is savvy with insurance utilization. The dental practitioners listen, are very skilled and (for someone who does not like going to the dentist)--- I have no qualms about going to Bear Paw for my dental needs from regular maintenance (cleanings) to specific dental work. I highly recommend this office.

I was impressed with how quickly the staff got me in as a new patient, when experiencing tooth pain! I appreciated the fact that Dr. Barder called me the day after a tooth extraction, to see how I was feeling..that meant a lot!! Courtney went above and beyond to call my insurance company, to check on remaining benefits, for future visits..i feel like those at Bear Paw have become more than dentist and staff, they have become friends!!

I love Bear Paw Dental. It is a small practice that gives you the family feel and knows you when you walk in the door. Continuity of care is what I care about. Although it is small, Dr Barder and the girls are up to date with the newest treatments and technology. I am very confident in all of them.

Highly Highly recommend!!! I was in so bad tooth pain. Bear Paw Dental got me in quick!! Tooth had to be extracted. Very quick and no pain. Im so happy I found this place! If you are in need of good quality care I would give them a call. Thank you Bear Paw !!

Neighborhood Dentist It was fortuitous that we noticed there was a new dental practice not far from where we live about the same time that our prior dental office declined to say whether or not all the dentists and staff were fully immunized to Covid19. On checking with Bear Paw Dental, all their staff and the dentist are fully immunized and where possible they also had received boosters. I immediately transferred my x-rays from my prior practice and scheduled for the replacement of a filling that had fallen out over the weekend. They got me an appointment that was not a long wait. They enforce mask wearing for everyone who comes into the waiting area until they are in a treatment room. My filling was completed quickly and I am very satisfied with the results. Just over a month after my original treatment I lost a crown for which I needed a new crown prep and Dr. Barder did a wonderful job completing that and making a temporary crown while the new crown is made by the lab. They were able to get me in for a long overdue dental cleaning the same day in the afternoon. The hygienist, Tori, worked quickly and carefully documented the numerous findings in my oral exam. She was gentle with the pocket probing and while working around a very sensitive tooth. All of the staff are wonderful to work with and they are very helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend Bear Paw Dental, their staff including their dental hygienist.

It took me long time to find a dentist I liked ,then no the practice was sold. To my SURPRISE Dr Barber is just as amazing, caring and fun. So glad I don't have to find another!! Staff is amazing was well. Thank you for keeping the same services as well. Highly recommend Bear Paw Dental
