Dr. Carissa Greinel-Blum is a native New Mexican. Born in Santa Fe, she attended the University of New Mexico and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She earned her Doctorate degree in dentistry from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Carissa practiced general dentistry for almost six years in the Washington, DC area where she excelled in her field and gained the respect of her patients, employer, and colleagues and was awarded the honor of President's Club with Heartland Dental in 2012.
Dr. Greinel-Blum decided to return to Albuquerque to be close to home, her extended family and red chili. Locally, she has practiced as the lead doctor at Bear Canyon Family Dentistry for over seven years. She is a skilled dentist and able to offer a variety of general dentistry services. These attributes and her gentle but caring hands have gained her the confidence, trust, and accolades of her patients.
Dr. Greinel-Blum is well-traveled and fluent in three languages. She is an accomplished violinist and loves running, hiking, cooking, skiing and enjoying the outdoors. She is the loving mother of two young children that are her pride and joy. Carissa is a firm believer in maintaining a strong family and teaching her children values such as integrity, honesty and the pursuit of a balanced education.

I have lots of anxiety going into the dentist office and let me tell you I just got home from my appointment and everyone at this practice was very professional, kind, and friendly. I was able to make my appointment online late last night while in pain and be seen the next morning! Thank you all so much, I'll be going back to them for dental care from now on.

I love this place! Staff is wonderful and they go the extra mile always with all of my dental needs. I have had a lot of different services including cleanings, Invisalign, crowns and veneers. I couldn't be happier, Dr. Blum is the best! I won't go anywhere else.

It is always a pleasure going to Bear Canyon Dentistry. The staff are always courteous and polite. They take their time to explain the procedure as well as the cost with no hidden fees. The work is always excellent, and most times exceed my expectations. I trust and recommend Bear Canyon Dentistry.

The staff was so kind and professional. Although I didn't receive treatment here, they helped to find me a specialist who was able to squeeze me in tomorrow morning. Thankful for this team and their resources to help a patient in pain.

Had a great first appointment with Bear Canyon! I was so nervous since I've had a hard time finding a dentist I really liked. They were super helpful and friendly even when we had issues with my insurance. They really listened to my medical history and were even familiar with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and were willing to defer to my judgement. It is so rare to find healthcare professionals that are willing to educate themselves on their patients' conditions AND treat their patient as part of the care team. Plus the hygienist was super gentle on my sensitive teeth which is always a win. Highly recommend Bear Canyon Family Dentistry!

I took my mother in law in. Our appt was for 11am when we were finally taken back to a room at noon. We ended up waiting in the room about 15 minutes longer. I understand being down a dentist, but maybe letting clients know they can show up later would be nice

The people here are consummate professionals and I'm glad Dr. Blum is back after having her little baby girl! Also, Jerusalem is new to their team and has enhanced the staff/team there! It was completely unexpected to have her call me and check on me. Everyone here has treated me so wonderful that I actually look forward to "...going to the dentist!" Excelsior!!

I was extremely nervous arriving today for a filing (third time around) due to previous work at a different office. The dental staff made me feel comfortable and ensured I was completely numb before beginning the procedure. They did a fantastic job. I really appreciate the extra effort to make sure it was to my standards. I highly recommend this practice.

So glad I found this place. Both doctors and hygienists really explain things. They've been much better about not hurting me than other places. Update August 2019: still love 'em! Update April 2021: Natalia did my cleaning, and it didn't hurt at all! I get so scared about going to the dentist, it is such a relief to have found this practice. Update June 2022: Tristan did my cleaning and it was a pain-free experience I did have to get some fillings. After the initial numbing injection, I didn't feel a thing! So much better than my experiences elsewhere.

Was expecting Linda, but guess she's no longer there. Had Melody for cleaning. Was okay, but I didn't feel the cleaning was as effective as cleanings I've had in the past. Okay, that was a mistake, didn't mean to post that again. Had another cleaning today with Amy? Everything was good.
