Maintaining oral health includes good home care and regular visits to our office for preventive care, which includes oral examinations and cleanings. Even with excellent care, however, teeth and gums can be susceptible to disease, infection, cavities, cracks, or other forms of damage.
Comprehensive examinations of the mouth, teeth, surrounding gum tissues, and supporting bone structures help with early detection and treatment of problematic conditions. Restorative dentistry is the aspect of dentistry that helps maintain oral and overall health even when the health of one or more teeth or the surrounding areas is compromised.
Restorative dentistry helps preserve natural teeth. The goal of restorative dentistry is to restore the function and integrity of the tooth structure, function, and health, while maintaining a natural appearance.
Our office also specializes in cosmetic dentistry. This means that we not only pay attention to the health and function of your teeth, but we also pay close attention to aesthetics. We want you to maintain great oral health but we also want you to have a beautiful smile and the confidence to smile often!
Dr. Hutcheon joined Bayview Dental Associates in 1990. Raised in Falmouth, Maine he graduated from Bowdoin College in 1986, cum laude, with honors in Biochemistry. Dr. Hutcheon received his dental degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990. He maintains a practice of general dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Greater Portland Dental Society, and Casco Bay Study Club.
Dr. Hutcheon has served the local community through the Community Center for Dental Health, the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped and as a clinical instructor at the University of New England. He has served as a board member for the UNE School of Dental Hygiene and the Maine Academy of General Dentistry. His outside interests include fishing, golfing, and cooking for his family and friends. He currently resides in Falmouth with his wife Liz and has two adult children.

I have been a patient of Bayview Dental for 35 years and have always enjoyed timely and very professional dental care from both hygienists and the dentists. The new facility is state of the art and even though there are much closer dentists to where I live in the Bath area I keep going back to Bayview Dental.

Clean, efficient, friendly.....all the things that make a visit to the dentist go well. I especially like that I'm greeted when I arrive and that they always start my appointment exactly on time and finish exactly on time. I've been a Bayview patient for nearly 20 years and in that time have had only two hygienists and two dentists....very consistent. They really get to know their patients and know your dental history. Good people!

Recently I broke a tooth; I called Bay View Dental and they scheduled an appointment with Dr. Nalchajian that morning. He examined the damaged tooth and referred me to a Dentist who performed the needed root canal and at the same time, scheduled me for a temporary crown. They have been very accommodating and professional in their service. We feel comfortable recommending Bay View Dental; friendly and accommodating staff and talented dentists.

Very thorough and caring staff. Have the latest equipment and technologies. The only downside is the cost. Be sure to ask for pricing before agreeing to panoramic x-rays or other things that will add to you bill.

I arrived a little late due to traffic problems, but I was still greeted graciously and had a very positive experience (more so than usual, even) with the dental hygienist. Twice she stopped with polishing to dig out a bit more debris from a tooth--very thorough. Been coming to Bayview for maybe 25 years. Wouldn't want to change!

From the minute you walk in the door you are treated with respect and kindness by Bayviews' knowledgeable, professional staff. The hygienists take their time to do thorough exams and cleanings. New meds applied directly to the teeth, virtually eliminating any discomfort from these proceedures. The dentists are experienced, skillful and gentle. All types of dentistry are performed, from simple fillings to crowns etc.. Individuals requiring more extensive therapies are referred to the appropriate local provider. I have been a patient in this practice for over 25 years and have the utmost confidence in their care.

We have been going to Bayview Dental for over 20 years. The quality and service have consistently exceeded our expectations to the point it is hard to imagine them doing better. The Dentists are not only skilled and knowledgeable, but they truly care for their patients and their comfort during and after the procedures. The clinical and front desk staff are equally professional and caring in their interactions with patients. When our dentist retired and a new dentist came in, a time usually fraught with concern, could not have been smoother. . Going to the dentist can be a bit anxiety provoking, but we have never felt that way in anticipation of a visit to Bayview. We cannot be happier with our new dentist. We cannot recommend Bayview Dental more highly
