I grew up right here on the Peninsula, attending Burlingame High School, where I graduated in 1988. Then, I went to college at UC Davis, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. After graduation, I worked as a biochemical technician at Genentech for two years.
It was during my time at Genentech that I decided on a career in Dentistry. I was accepted into UCLA School of Dentistry, where I received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1999. During my dental school years, I found Endodontics to be the most difficult, challenging, and confounding aspect of dentistry. So, of course, I decided that this was what I was meant to do for the rest of my life.
I spent the next two years in the Endodontics residency program at SUNY Buffalo where I earned my Endodontics specialty certificate as well as a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology. While I enjoyed my time in Buffalo and was very lucky to have met many great people, I was thrilled to move back home to sunny California. After returning, I worked as an associate endodontist for 3 years until, in October 2004, we opened Bayside Endodontics in Daly City.
Although I didn't have many concrete reasons for choosing this specialty, fate would have it that I couldn't imagine a better, more satisfying job than the one I have. Few other professions can provide people relief from intense pain and suffering every single day. I truly feel very lucky to have chosen to work in such a rewarding field. When I am away from the office, I spend as much time as possible with my wife, Tina (also a dentist!), and our three young sons. I also hold a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which I have found to be a wonderful source of exercise and stress relief.
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, I attended San Francisco University High School and graduated in 2000. My education continued at the University of California, Davis, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics while being a member of the intercollegiate tennis team. The health sciences were always an interest of mine and after exploring various health care professions through internships, I made the decision to pursue dentistry. In 2007, I earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. After graduation, I furthered my dental education by completing a one-year General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs, Palo Alto in 2008. The next three years were spent practicing general dentistry in the San Francisco Bay Area. While general dentistry was enjoyable, I found Endodontics to be one of the most challenging, yet satisfying aspects of dentistry. After electing to pursue a career in Endodontics, I spent two years in Boston and earned my Endodontics specialty certificate at the Tufts Postgraduate Endodontics residency program in 2013. Currently, I am a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and a member of the American Association of Endodontics, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Mateo County Dental Society. Dentistry aside, I enjoy reading, tennis, swimming, cooking, playing outdoors, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Japan, I spent my formative years in Tokyo before moving to California for college. I attended UCLA for my Bachelors degree in Science and then moved to London for my Masters degree in Public Health. While I was always drawn to healthcare, dentistry stood out to me as a field that was both exciting and humbling, which brought me to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduating with honors, I returned to California, completed a general dental residency with the University of the Pacific and worked as a general dentist. During this time, I found endodontics to be the most challenging due to the high degree of technical detail involved and the most gratifying, so I decided to specialize. I completed my specialty residency in endodontics at Tufts University in Boston. Having bounced from city to city all my life, I am thrilled to be back home in California long-term. Outside of the office I love traveling, yoga, eating and spending time with my husband and our two young sons.

They squeezed me in at the end of the day on Friday, diagnosed my problem, determined I didn't need a root canal and referred me to an oral surgeon who was able to see me at 4pm that day. They were fast, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended. Dr. Sajini Sasthri did the exam and was terrific.

I love Bayside Endo. I am a dentist that refers to them, and I have also been a patient who has received treatment from them. They take great care of my patients and also took great care of me when I needed a root canal. They are thorough in their diagnoses and are very skilled endodontists.

I had a truly exceptional experience here last week. I received a root canal retreatment done by Dr. Sasthri. From the moment I walked in, I was so well taken care of. Dr. Sasthri would check in frequently throughout the procedure to check in on me. I had a blanket on, earphones in - they'll do whatever is necessary to help you feel safe and comfortable. The procedure went smoothly and successfully. Thank you!

Had my first root canal today done at Bayside Endodontics by Dr. Rowshan Ahani and I was very impressed by the whole office but especially by the treatment and level of care i received by Dr. Ahani. He completed the assessment and the root canal with no pain and incredible precision and care. I cannot thank him enough for taking good care of me and I would highly recommend going there. Very friendly atmosphere. Dr. Sasthri is great. She pinpointed the issue I was having with my toothache. She and entire staff (Nicole, Tyler, and Christian helped me) were so very caring. I was in extreme pain; so their kindness made me feel relaxed and comfortable. THANK YOU!

I went for a root canal/replacement crown and they told me I needed a couple of weeks of medication and then they would add the crown. Upon my return they told me that the tooth had not been kept clean and had gotten more infected and needed to be pulled so they would send over this info to my regular dentist who would be doing the extraction. They had never mentioned anything about keeping the tooth clean so that it wouldn't get infected. Then they never sent over the information to my regular dentist as promised. Finally, my dentist reached out to get the information from them and it was so unclear he had to call them and speak with them. So the conclusion is that while the offices are outfitted with lots of high tech equipment and they seem professional while you are there, they don't follow up and let many things fall through the cracks. Needless to say I won't be going back.

The BEST! Dr Sashtri has the most gentle manner and makes you feel as comfortable as can be. No one wants a root canal but I would not want to be in anyone else's hands. Her technician was great too! And the office staff have been as helpful as can be. Thank you Bayside Endo team!

Nobody enjoys visiting the dentist, at least no one I know; and going in for a root canal was creating a world of anxiety for me. My Dentist, realizing that I needed a root canal referred me to Bayside and if ever there was a better root canal procedure experience, I honestly don't know where that would be found! The doctor who performed the procedure, Sajini Sasthri, is without question (and I mean that sincerely) absolutely incredible! Attentive to my anxiety and claustrophobic issues she and her assistant were able to calm me down almost immediately. The pain that would typically accompany this procedure was virtually non existent - obviously their was a little from time to time but even in those instances the source was investigated and addressed immediately and prior to proceeding. Dr. Sajini and her assistant were absolutely incredible and I recommend this dental office without hesitation! Oh, one more thing - post operation pain management was addressed with ibuprofen, that really wasn't needed but taken as recommended. At the end of the day I just want to say, "Thank you Dr. Sajini!!!"

As someone who experiences anxiety when going to the dentist, I was extremely nervous about my double root canal. Dr. Ahani and his team were absolutely amazing and wonderful. They were patient with me and listened to my concerns and then were very thorough and caring about making sure my experience was as positive as possible. The procedure itself was painless and my aftercare went smooth. Honestly, they should get 10 stars! Well done team.
