Leigh Bayer Curtis, DMDDr. Leigh Bayer Curtis is the daughter of Dr. Peter Bayer, and she grew up right here in the great town of Fort Walton Beach, Florida! She graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1992 and then headed to Clemson University in South Carolina. Dr. Curtis earned a bachelors degree in health science with pre-dental emphasis. After college, she spent a year in Vail, Colorado, experiencing life as a waitress with unlimited time on the ski slopes and fun with her friends.
After Colorado, Dr. Curtis attended the University of Alabamas School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. She enjoyed being involved in the community and holding leadership positions in organized dentistry. She participated in community outreach dentistry programs and assisted with Special Smiles during the Special Olympics. Dr. Curtis also earned the Award of Excellence for her contributions to the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) and the Alumni Scholarship Award.
Following dental school, Dr. Curtis did post-doctoral training as a resident in General Dentistry at the University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. During that year, she treated medically compromised patients and obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
Dr. Curtis and her husband, Damian, moved from their Sweet Home in Alabama to New York City, where Dr. Curtis completed a residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Curtis enjoys the father-daughter team approach.
Dr. Curtis and her husband Damian Curtis enjoy the Emerald Coast for fun in the sun, and time in the Alabama woods to hunt, relax and enjoy nature. The majority of free time is spent with their children Hayden, Martha Rylee and Clark. Keeping up with each of them, their schedules and activities, keeps life busy and exciting for them.
