The San Diego community is diverse and complex; its exciting to get to know peoples stories and share in their lives. Whether Im joking with a toddler at thefirst visit or with an adult to restore or improve his or her smile, I appreciate having time to listen to and learn from the person.
My team and I know that open, clear communication, and listening without judging, shows our patients that we care. It also gives us insight into how we can best help each person to achieve thehealthiest, most wonderful smile, and fosters a bond of trust and respect.
There have been incredible advances in the field since I completed dental school, and Ive stayed current on the changes. Continuing education is part of my commitment to my patients. By constantly expanding my skills and knowledge, I provide the most up-to-date treatment options and technology for positive experiences and results.
Ive been a San Diegan since 1979. My wife Sharon is a professional ballroom dance instructor. We have been married for more than three decades and have two grown sons, four dogs, and two pet birds, and live in the Clairemont area. I enjoy my free time with loved ones and like playing tennis and ballroom dancing.

I called the office an spent at least 10 minutes on the phone with the receptionist explaining my situation with my wife I spent the time doing this so they would know what we were coming in for we had a bad experience with another dentist who said he could do the work and could not. I asked if Dr Emerson specialized in this particular field because I did not want to waste their time or mine she assured me he did specialize in that field. I made the appointment my wife and I took off work for the appointment and when we got there everyone was very nice but Dr Emerson took one look at my wife's situation and said this is out of my field you need to see a specialist. Needless to say we were not happy as I specifically ask the receptionist before making the appointment if he did specialize in this field again so we don't waste each others time. Then as we are leaving the receptionist saw there is a charge for the visit, I said to her when I spoke to you on the phone you assured me he could do this work and he does not and she never told me on the phone while scheduling the appointment there would be a charge to see us. I can not believe they wasted my wife and me time it is like they just tell you o yes we do that and yes Dr Emerson specializes in that just to get you in and then charge you for a visit. After telling her you know you just wasted everyone's time hear and cost my wife and I money as we took off work to come hear and you want to charge me, her response was, I will take 50% off the visit THAT'S A JOKE that does not cover mine or my wife's pay we lost because she told us something that was not true. Beware they will tell you anything to get you in and charge you even when they can not help you.

New customer. The welcoming of all the staff was very warm and comforting...like a family member being welcomed back. Dr. Mark spent a few minutes getting to know me personally and I was much impressed with his philosophy "do dental work only if needed but give the patient all information." I actually look forward to going again.

I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months and I dont mind going each time since the experience is so comfortable. Staff is kind and welcoming and everyone is professional and great at what they do!

Many dental issues over the years. Anxious when I walk into a dental office. Dr Emerson and his staff are kind, professional and patient. I feel comfortable that recommendations are honest and in my best interest. Treatments have been comfortable and stress free. Top notch service! Thank you!

My entire family has had Dr. Emerson as our dentist for over twenty years. I have been happy with the service from the dentist and the hygienist. And have posted how pleased I was with the service. Unfortunately, as time has passed the front desk personnel has changed. That's where the low ratings was established. The first and last impression of the dentist office is made by those manning the front office. Such a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Previous employees were professional, friendly, knowledgeable and valued long standing relationships. Contrary to the response my family receives now. Calls are not returned, I've been asked to call family members to secure time slots for people at the front desk. The assumption was I could get a response/commitment before Friday, when the office is closed. Phone etiquette is not polished, and there has been displays of a lack of professional integrity. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT My email address was requested and I was assured information would be forwarded. As of today, I've called three times prior to writing this review. A response has yet to be made. Sad to say, nothing lasts forever. Good people move on, and their positions are filled by others. Dr.SPJ

It was an absolute pleasure going to this dental office this morning- i don't think I've ever said that about a dentist visit. Everyone was SO kind and friendly, cleaning was gentle & thorough, Dr. Emerson gave understandable explanations & explained the reasoning for his recommendations, and they clearly outlined pricing for recommended future procedures. All in all great!

I've always had a hard time with going to the dentist but the kind staff at bay view make it so much easier and pleasurable. I feel like I'm in safe hands and they do their best to keep things affordable.

My whole family loves Bay View Dental! My husband and I became patients when we moved back to San Diego because of recommendations from my parents and sister. We felt so welcome from the first visit! When our kids had to accompany us, the front office staff helped keep them entertained while the hygienists and Dr. Emerson took great care of us! Eventually, we moved the kids to the practice, too, and I couldn't be happier we did. The staff is so caring and even my kid who used to be the most reluctant to go to the dentist now looks forward to seeing everyone in the office. Thanks, team!

I have been using Dr. Emmerson's practice for a few years now and they are the most thorough, kind, and friendly people I've had the pleasure to work with. I recently chipped a tooth and called them asking for a next day fix, they found a way to make it work. So sad I'm leaving! Thank you for everything Dr. E!

First impressions are amazing. Great customer service from the ladies behind the counter. The Hygienist catered to my teeth and spoke to me about my hygiene and how to keep my teeth looking amazing. She listened to my concerns and also spoke with the Dentist ahead of time so he was prepared to have a detailed conversation with me. Both of them are amazing and loved their bed side manners. Thanks Yall, I will be coming back!

Been a patient for several years. As long as I can remember I hated going to the dentist and considered it a necessary burden (the picking and scraping and trying to talk without closing your mouth). Bay View changed the way I feel and I recommend giving the team there a chance!
