Dr. McKeta is a lot older than he looks. He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and grew up in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh. He majored in biology at the University of Notre Dame, where he was named a Notre Dame Scholar. He returned to Pittsburgh for dental school and graduated as valedictorian of his class in 2007.
While still in dental school, Dr. McKeta was fortunate to be awarded a position in the orthodontic specialty residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He spent his residency treating patients in a university setting and teaching dental students. Through his clinical experience, Dr. McKeta has learned proper use of traditional metal braces, Invisalign, clear braces and self-ligating braces like the Damon system, In-Ovation C, SmartClip and Clarity SL. His graduate research was published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry.
In residency and in practice, Dr. McKeta has treated all kinds of people, from kids to adults, those with slightly crooked teeth to management of people with cleft palate, Turner syndrome, and complex surgical cases. He tries his best to recognize and understand each person as an individualto help design a treatment that works best for them. In his opinion, there is no better feeling than looking at a patient after their braces have come off and seeing their new smile!
Dr. McKeta feels it is important to stay on the cutting-edge of orthodontics in order to offer the most advanced treatments. Thus, he maintains memberships in many professional organizations to keep up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Southern Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. McKeta and his wife, Angie, who is a Physician Assistant at the Medical University of South Carolina,enjoy sailing and cooking. Theyare excited tolive in their favorite city in the entire country. Dr. McKeta earned his private pilots certificate in 2007. In his spare time, he serves as a South Carolina Aquarium volunteer diver. He has logged more than 1,250 volunteer hours and 500+ SCUBA dives!
