Bay Lakes Center For Complex Dentistry - Prosthodontist in Green Bay, WI

'My passion is working with people, and I thrive on seeing the transformation that happens when my patients smile to show off their newly restored teeth. I like the detective work involved in determining the cause of specific dental problems. And I especially like the challenge of designing a treatment plan that ensures I see every patient smile.

I was the son of a first generation American who left school after the 8th grade. He worked long hours so I could go to college, and I made sure I didn't let him down. After two years of college, I was accepted into dental school where I found I had a real knack for clinical and prosthetic dentistry. After graduation, I became the only student to be accepted that year for Marquette University's 3-year graduate program in prosthodontics, which combined classwork, clinical training and teaching. To help support myself, I also worked two nights a week and Saturdays as a general dentist in an inner-city clinic.

When I finished my training, I opened my practice in Green Bay in 1978 with the help of my wife Robin, a dental hygienist and mother of our two wonderful sons. Together we developed a team of dedicated professionals, who share our philosophy that the patient's comfort always comes first. I am proud of the fact that 90% of our staff has been with us for over 15 years. In what is one of the most challenging and precise dental specialties, having like-minded associates who understand and support each other is critical to the success of our dental treatments.

Prosthodontics gives me the opportunity to combine science, medicine and artistry to make a meaningful difference in other people 's lives. While I treat all restorative issues, I specialize in treating the more complex cases that put my extensive training, continuing education and 30 years of experience to the test.'

Very odd experience today. I made an appointment about a month ago to see Dr Hallas as he was recommended for my current issues. From what I understand he's a specialist that replaces tooth loss, but this area is a completely new subject for me so I thought I would schedule a consultation to see what exactly he does, and if he thinks it would be possible to help my situation. What happened to my teeth occurred about 6 years ago I had 2 silver fillings replaced during the same appointment at my dentist. She took a phone call for 20 minutes during the appointment and then seemed rushed and distracted. Also the numbing wore off so the drilling was really painful for me. I thought all the pain was due to the drilling but my 2 teeth were extremely painful, even causing severe jaw pain. I informed her of this and just kept getting the whole "x-rays are fine" and "there's nothing wrong" even implying I was trying to get attention. The pain of these teeth persisted constantly for years until one of the teeth abscessed and disintegrated on the bottom of the tooth and started disintegrating my jawbone; unable to be saved and badly infected, it needed to be pulled (I was told by the endodontist and dentist that the nerve was drilled into killing the tooth), the other tooth had pieces of the filling that fell off, causing 2 bad fractures on the tooth and needed to be pulled also. The tooth pulls all happened in 3 months and all of that "x-rays are fine" turned out to be completely untrue. (In my opinion please do not see Dr. Kraft at DePere Family Dentistry.) So I need help and I feel like I need to speak to as many people as possible. Now, with a front molar and a large side molar missing, I'm not able to speak correctly and I have difficulty eating. All of the missing teeth are visible, so I still wear a mask because I'm ashamed and embarrassed of myself. I came to Complex Dentistry today at their requested time and the receptionists were on the phone. This happens at appointments all the time so I waited for a few minutes. I stepped aside to the waiting area when a couple came through the door as it's a tight space. They were greeted and checked in immediately so I thought she would check me in too. I stepped forward to be helped and the receptionist picked up the phone and smirked at me. It was dismissive and really odd, being that at this place you pay entirely out of pocket. My primary care doctor, upset by the poor dental care I received in the past, told me that whenever anything happens that doesn't feel right, leave the facility, which is what I did. What is sad though is that I need help and never got to meet Dr Hallas. At some medical facilities there are check-in instructions and things are more organized and I would definitely suggest that for them. Told the story to my teenage daughter this evening and she said when someone ignores you, it's a micro-aggression, because they want the power of acknowledging you or not. It feels like that behavior doesn't belong in a place where they claim to help people. I also don't know if the fact they are so busy is a good or bad sign. I feel bad and wanted to put this opinion out there.
