Dr. Sarah Bao is a Maryland native originally from Germantown, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Neurobiology and Physiology. She received her dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. The following year, she completed an advanced education General Practice Residency Program at Abington-Jefferson Health in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Bao joined Dr. Gens at Bay Hills Family Dentistry in 2020. She strongly believes in providing a safe and compassionate environment for her patients and is committed to patient health, patient-centered care, and aesthetic dentistry. She is excited to serve our patients at Bay Hills Family Dentistry and work with them to reach their oral health goals.
Dr. Bao is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association. She is dedicated to continuing her education through the curriculum of Spear Education and local study clubs. She is also passionate about dental volunteerism and has been active with Mission of Mercy Projects and other outreach programs since 2011.
Dr. Ryan Gens was born and raised in the Annapolis area. He graduated from Bucknell University and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He joined Bay Hills Family Dentistry in 2017 when Dr. Jay De Pol retired. Dr. Gens and his team share the philosophy of caring and gentle dentistry in a family-oriented environment.
Dr. Gens is passionate about continuing education and taking additional dental courses to better serve the Arnold, Annapolis and Severna Park area. At University of Maryland, he was selected for the Oral Surgery Clerkship and received an award for Implantology. Since graduating, Dr. Gens has spent hundreds of hours locally and traveling across the country to attend national seminars in oral surgery, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, sedation, and more. He has volunteered with dental mission trips to bring free dental care to underserved communities.
Dr. Gens is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), an award only six percent of general dentists have earned. He is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Dental Association. He participates in local study clubs to stay connected with other area dentists and discuss the latest techniques and technologies.

Always a great experience! Dr. Gens is The best! The new office looks great. I got to meet Kelly (a new hygienist)and Dr. Bao (the new dentist) - both were very nice.

I highly recommend Bay Hills Family Dentistry. Dr.Gens has a great approach and makes you feel at ease. The entire staff is welcoming and professional. The facility is top notch and they do great work here. I recently had my wisdom teeth out and Dr.Gens and the team did an awesome job. Very little pain, quick recovery.

I was looking for a new dentist in the area and took a chance finding one off of Google. Let me just say - this is the best dentist office I've been to! The reviews speak for themselves. They are so kind, personable, and caring. Everyone was so welcoming and gentle too. They even gave me a Rise Up gift card as I was leaving for coffee at the shop downstairs. I will definitely be sticking with Bay Hills Family Dentistry :)

What an amazing experience! I have a bit of anxiety so going to a new dentist sort of spiked it up. When I called for an appointment I was told I could come in right away. I wasn't prepared for that! With anxiety you need to prepare yourself mentally and I sure wasn't mentally ready . But when you're in pain you don't have much choice so I went. I was greeted by a smile with encouragement that they were going to be patient with me because I'm sure they recognize the signs of anxiety. And believe me I had all the signs. The staff and doctors didn't rush through the procedure but they walked me through the entire process beforehand. They gave me options and answers. Throughout the procedure I was calmed by their compassion for my anxiety. They wouldn't continue until they were 100% sure I wouldn't feel any pain and I DIDN'T! I am so grateful to the entire staff and doctors for their professional support and kindness. Thank you!

I was lucky enough to find this practice when I moved to Arnold 3 years ago. I take my entire family. They just expanded and were able to take both of my kids at the same time. They are GREAT with children. Mine are 11 and 5 and actually look forward to going to the dentist!

My mom went here for the first time and she said they were very professional. Everyone was exceptionally nice, which is rare nowadays. She is very happy with the services rendered. She also said the teeth cleaning was one of the best she has had. It wasn't rough on her teeth and it was also very thorough. The place was very clean and up to date. She's said it was A-1 service all the way around. Highly recommend!

I love Dr. Bao,she's amazing and very patient. Tammy and Kelly are nice as well. Usually it's hard for me to be comfortable with dentist because sometimes I feel like I'll be judge (yeah I know,it's all in my head) but with Dr. Bao she's really calm and listens to your concerns. Everyone in the office are nice and friendly,specially Amy. The office is clean and I am so happy with the service I received.

Very efficient and caring dental care. My hygienist Tammy was gentle and made me comfortable. She did everything she could to make the cleaning pleasant. Dr. Bao was gentle and efficient. I felt that I was in good hands. State of the art equipment , clean office.
