Dr. Hou received his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Rice University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University Dental School. He completed two general practice residencies, one at the Detroit Receiving Hospital and another at the Houston Veterans Hospital. Dr. Hou received hos Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Hou has practiced in the tri-state area for the last twenty years. He was Associate Clinical Director of Orthodontics at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has had a private practice for the past 15 years. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association.

AMAZING dentist! I had an excruciating painful back molar tooth that needed to be extracted on a SATURDAY, he was the only dentist to take me (which I called him Saturday Morning and saw him at 6pm same day). I've had many problem teeth in my life, many root canals and extractions, he was THE BEST. To remove my BACK MOLAR (aka not easy tooth to take out) I was in and out of the chair in 15 minutes,5 mins of that time was the actual removal of my tooth! I didn't even feel him taking it out, zero pain or discomfort! Loved his assistant Melissa too! THANK YOU DR. BAUM AND MELISSA.... Come visit me on Shelter Island

Was having a really hard time finding someone that could me with my root canal.. everyone was a month out. Thank goodness I found Dr Baum. He took me in right away and I'm a nervous wreck and it wasn't that bad!! I actually don't mind going back lol that's really saying something!

I was in excruciating pain when I got home from my school day. I called hoping to get an appt for at least the next day. Dr. Baum was able to schedule me for that same night. My procedure was done quickly with no pain felt. Dr. Baum was comforting telling me everything that my procedure detailed. I was relaxed and did not feel any pain or discomfort. He was through explaining to me my after surgery procedures also. He is a very caring, professional and experienced provider. He also has great taste in music!

I had the worst tooth pain and called Dr. Baum and came right away to his office. He is so nice and caring made me feel comfortable had great bed side manner he was exceptional and took care of my pain right away with same day surgery. Him and Melissa were wonderful I was so nervous and they both made me feel so good. He took care of my pain and surgery in one day and I was amazed. Didn't feel a thing he is highly recommended great dentist saved my life with the pain I had!

I had seen 2 other dentists in the same day. Neither could figure out why I was in so much pain. Erik and his dental assistant were fantastic. I was in the worst pain I've ever experienced and I have stage 4 cancer to compare it to. Turns out I had two abscesses so the teeth needed to be extracted. Eric was compassionate, funny, and quick to act. I had an appointment 2 hours after I called, and he made sure I wouldn't feel ANY pain during the procedure which was the best part. Yes he might be a little expensive, but I wouldn't expect anything different considering I needed the service right then and there, and I needed it done well. 10/10 would high recommend. Thanks again for helping me.

Saw my fiance immediately same day for wisdom tooth extraction. She saw another dentist who said soonest they can is in June and she was in excruciating pain every day so she decided to bite the bullet and give Dr Baum a call and he said come in an hour and we went and he did everything same day and according to her he was very friendly and she felt nothing while he was doing it. The only downside as some may say is he doesn't take insurance it's cash or credit only which wasn't a big deal for the speed and how gentle he was 10/10 would go back if necessary

I'm so grateful for doctor Baum! Ive been in horrendous pain for over a week because of an impacted wisdom tooth and an infection. I would've not been able to get it taken care of until June, so I found him. He is very friendly, gentle and caring. He took out my wisdom tooth immediately! I had 0 pain! For once I actually didn't mind being at the dentist! I highly recommend.

Dr Baum was exceptional!! He was able to see me on an early Sunday morning and treat my infected molar due to a previous root canal. Pulled it and did a bone graft. So personable and caring !! Changing my dentist to him now !!! Thank you so much

I've been dealing with major tooth pain for a while and couldn't find anyone for a dental emergency. Even the hospital didn't help. After hours of pain I found Dr.Baum luckily and he was able to extract my tooth in such a quick and sufficient manner. I highly recommend for any dental emergency.

So I wanna put this in the most simple terms as possible... Eric was an absolute lifesaver!!! I was dealing with an infected molar root from a failed root canal a previous dentist did and for about 2 days, I paralyzed with extreme pulsating pain. On a Sunday morning where NO ONE was available, Eric was the only office open in the area who was ready to see me on short notice. Once I got there, this man was working every position in the office making sure his business was running smoothly. He brought me in telling me I'm in good hands and I sure was. Not only did he show me exactly the problem I was dealing with; his procedure of pulling my infected molar was flawless with no mistakes whatsoever. I was in and out of the office in a solid hour and he also gave me a detailed step-by-step list of how to take care of my wound after I got home. Just to add one more thing, he just checked in on me by a phone call making sure I was in good health after the procedure. Eric was the best dentist I've come across and I have a terrible past of fragile teeth so I've definitely have had my fair share of meeting dentists! Would definitely recommend. :)

Dr. Baum is such a careful, attentive and efficient dentist. In both of my wisdom teeth removals- they have been painless, and quick! The attention to detail and care in following up is super and overall a great dental office.

Dentist Eric Baum is the VERY VERY BEST dentist I have ever seen. He cares about the person that is in his chair. He takes the time to explain everything, not only go over your X-rays but he has you look at them. He COMPLETELY put my nerves at bay and fast. During my surgery he kept talking to me so I would be calm and know exactly what he was doing. He made sure that I felt no pain except for him moving and just the regular pressure. He is a very outgoing person you can ask as many questions as you feel you need to and he will answer them all. I would totally recommend him to anybody whether you're scared of the dentist or not. I personally I think that he is an all-around wonderful human being. Ever since I was a little girl I was extremely scared of the dentist. I am 42 now and I have left other dental offices after they shot me with Novocaine that's how terrified I am of the dentist.

One of my crowns fell out last night. I called a few emergency dental offices and left messages for them to call me back. It was funny that a few 24/7 emergency offices never answered their phone nor did they call me back. Dr. BAUM was the only Dr. who called me back and allowed me to come in to see him at a very convenient time. Dr. BAUM arrived on time, took me in immediately, and finished cementing my crown back in no time. I was able to make my flight from JFK with plenty of time to spare.
