I'm so happy to be practicing dentistry in the lowcountry! It's such a wonderful place to live and raise a family.My family and I relocated to Bluffton in 2010 after I had practiced dentistry in the Pittsburgh area for 11 years. I graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1998. Upongraduation, I completed a general residency at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. My staff and I maintain dental excellence by completing several hours of continuing education to keep our practice on the cutting edge of dentistry. I am passionate about dentistry. Whether I'm doing a general exam or helping someone look their best using Invisalign, orZoom whitening, I strive to be the best dentist I can be.
When I'm not in the office I enjoy spending time with my wife Gretchen and our three children Maddy, JC and Charlotte. We attend Low Country Community Church in Bluffton and our kids go to Hilton Head Christian Academy. We play tennis and golf together and enjoy going to the beach. I love the outdoors and Itry to utilize everything this wonderful area has to offer. I must not forget to mention my dogs Sidney and Crosby. Yes, I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan!
We are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each member of our treatment team is a registered assistant, and our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.
Minda is our office manager/ patient care coordinator. She was born and raised in Beaufort, SC and currently resides in Savannah, GA. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2016 with a Bachelors Degree in Public Health. She loves working with people and helping others, especially when it comes to dentistry.
Lauren is a Bluffton native and has been working in the dental field for 3 years. She is our certified dental assistant. She loves working with patients and interacting with others. She has an adorable 4 year old son. She enjoys boating, hanging out with her son, and going on vacations.
Maria is the first as well as the last face you may see at the office. She will greet you with her kind smile. She was born and raised in Bluffton.She graduated from BLHS in 2019 and joined the US Army Reserves right after HS.

Worst experience of my life. I went in for a cleaning and they told me I had 3 cavities that needed to be filled right away and I trusted them. My mouth will never be the same. He cracked my tooth and didn't tell me. I ended up having to go to a different dentist who had to remove and replace all of his fillings because they were so bad. I almost had to get a root canal for the tooth he cracked. Mind you -when I walked into his office for just a cleaning my mouth was 100% fine no problems or pain anywhere - he left me with permanent damage and refused to refund me so I ended up paying 2 dentists for work I don't think I needed in the first place. So I lost $800 to him and now I can never chew on the right side of my mouth again. UPDATE- after submitting this review I was contacted by the office and threatened with legal action if I did not change my post.

Last week, I had my first visit to Dr. Bauer's office in about two years. I haven't had dental insurance in a long time, and had put off taking care of myself due to generally working constantly and financial stress throughout my twenties. I was up front about this with my hygienist, and was so surprised at how kind the office was in being willing to work with me. I've rarely had great experiences with any type of medical office, but this place was the exception. They outlined what I needed, negotiated with my insurance company, and helped create a treatment plan that works within my budget. I'm very appreciative that they took time to listen/care about me and I recommend Dr. Bauer for any dental needs you may have.

Excellent experience! I have been a patient of his office for three years and always had a great experience. This last time was nothing short of excellent - I just recently had Dr. Bauer replace a crown on my front tooth and it looks amazing. Dr. Bauer and his friendly staff made this a completely seamless process (at first, I was a bit anxious about the procedure but Dr. Bauer and his associates were so reassuring and helpful). The dental work was perfect and the whole experience was exceptional! Dr. Bauer and his staff are wonderful and so professional. I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a dentist in Bluffton.

I've been contemplating writing this for a long time because honestly I couldn't find the words to say, but my whole time in the office was an all around terrible experience. Starting at the front desk the older woman didn't seem to know what she was doing at all or how to handle a patient and a phone call at the same time. Then onto the cleaning it was one of the most painful experiences I've ever had at a dentist. The dentist then came in to check and reported many false things going on in my mouth. Instantly I thought it was strange and went for a second opinion and my new dentist has many patients that also came from this office who've reported the same thing happened to them. I would not recommend this dental team to anyone you care about.

This Dr. is a businessman, not a dental professional genuinely concerned about your oral health and comfort. He made a temporary denture which was totally worthless. I wasn't even able to close my mouth, not to mention the pain and discomfort. Returned it to him on my second visit. Nevertheless, he refused to issue a refund, arguing "it was too expensive for him to make it" and it is "non refundable" Total rip off. Just my out of pocket was $700.00. As a general rule, a respectable dentist should stand behind the quality of his/her work and product. Apparently, this is not the case with Bauer Dental and this is certainly NOT the way to treat patients. Will never ever go there again.

Great experience! Cleanings for my husband and 2 children ages 11 & 13. Very friendly staff, timely service, and all left pain free! Definitely recommend!
