Dr. Eric Shugars was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is a 1985 graduate of Portage Northern High School. In 1989, he received his degree in biology from Hope College. Following in family footsteps, he attended Northwestern University Dental School and received his doctorate of dental surgery (DDS) in 1993. He was accepted into Northwestern University's endodontic residency program and graduated in 1995. Eric returned to Michigan in 1996 and opened up his practice in Battle Creek. Dr. Shugars is married with two children and lives in Battle Creek. Most days you will find him with his family watching the kids in their various activities or on the golf course in quest of an illusive hole-in-one. He is a dog lover and has two rather large dogs.

Front Office Staff -Kathryn has served in the dental field since 1990 working in general dentistry until joining Dr. Shugars staff in 2012. Kathryn spends her free time cooking, wine tasting, reading, listening to music, karaoke, being outside, watching sports and spending time with her family, friends and animals.

Lead Dental Assistant -Emily has been in the dental field since 2016 joining our team in 2020. Her favorite part of her job is creating connections with her patients. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors, hiking, playing in local softball leagues, watching sports, spending time with family, friends and her dog Wayne! She also loves her MSU Spartans!

Dental Assistant -Regan joined our team in spring of 2021. Since then, she has enjoyed serving our patients and loves the excitement of learning new aspects of dentistry. Regan was led to join the dental industry by her mother, who has served as a dental assistant for many years. In her free time she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her two dogs, Milo and Boomer.

Business Manager/Web, Marketing and IT -Nicole is a graduate of Hope College and holds a master's degree from DePaul University. She is married and has two children. She loves baking, gardening, loving on her dogs and spending time with family and friends.
