Dr. Bates graduated summa cum laude with an undergraduate degree in Biology from Wofford College and later attended the Medical University of South Carolina where he earned his DMD degree with high honors.

Bates Orthodontics is absolutely amazing! Insurance covered my son's full treatment. Every single person in that office was so helpful and knowledgeable. I love going into an office and everyone greets you! Shout out to Bates Orthodontics Short Pump!

My oldest child saw Dr. Bates and his team several years ago and now that my youngest child needs orthodontia care, there is nowhere else we would rather go! Dr. Bates and his team are phenomenal. They are warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. Everyone we have interacted with has been so kind and made both of my girls feel totally comfortable at every visit. From the office staff, to the Ortho assistants, to the doctor himself -- the entire team is exceptional and great at what they do. I absolutely recommend this team for your family's orthodontia needs!

Top notch orthodontics office!! Dr. Bates and all of the staff are The Best!! Always a great experience at each appointment. Dr. Bates has worked his magic with all of my children. My third child got her braces off today and she hasn't stopped smiling! Bringing the forth one in soon!!! Thank you Dr. Bates!!!

As a retired military member while in the military having braces were against regulations due always being forward deployed and your orthodontist was stateside unable to complete your treatment and three kids that needed them more than I. Once they flew the nest I knew my chance had arrived along with Invisalign. Dr. Bates office and staff have made me feel comfortable with my age and walking in the office filled with teenagers. I'm smiling more now than I have before and in front of the camera instead of behind it. Thanks Dr. Bates and staff!!

Dr. Bates and staff are wonderful as always. I would definitely recommend them for anyone but especially those on the Autism spectrum. Dr.Bates is kind, patient and explains the treatment well to the parent and patient.

Dr. Bates along with the lovely staff are so kind and patient with my son. Taniqua makes my son smile and she's always cutting up and making sweet, small talk with him and myself. Madison has also worked with my son and she's such a sweet heart too! He was nervous at first but they subsided his fears and showed him how all of the equipment worked. It was also nice to have their therapy dog, Scout, there as a comfort as well.

The professionalism and friendliness of the whole team is outstanding. As a senior adult I wanted Invisalign and was apperhensive about going, I went and could not be happier with the results.
