Dr. H. Michael Sefranek graduated from the University of Connecticut Dental School in 1989 and began practicing in Manchester, CT in 1991. He was awarded the Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) degree in 1999. One of a select group nationwide, he received the Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) degree in August of 2006, focusing on dental education in sixteen areas of dentistry. Nationally 1% of all dentists achieve this level of education. He is past president of New England Mastertrack IV, a group dedicated to achieving the highest degree of training within the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of the New England Master Study Club. In 2008 he was elected President of the Rhode Island chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry.
The doctor is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and has been a clinical faculty member and guest lecturer at the University of Connecticuts Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. He has been a clinical research associate at NYU School of Dentistry through the PEARL Network.
The doctor, as New England Chapter Past President of the International Association for Orthodontics provides seminars in orthodontics and children's dentistry. This organization is the longest continually operating non-specialty school and study group, dedicated to the latest advances in children's dentistry and orthodontics. He is also a certified Invisalign provider and has attended numerous seminars on techniques in implants, crown and bridge , cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics and dentures, as well as other dental topics. The doctor has been licensed in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Doctor Sefranek has been residing and practicing in the Barrington, Rhode Island area since 2001. Our Fall River, Massachusetts location opened in 2005.
In 2015 the doctor purchased the 2302 GAR Hwy., Swansea, MA property, which was located ideally between both of our offices. In 2017 the Doctor designed and built a spacious, state of the art 3,000 sq. ft. dental office building. Both practices were relocated in December of 2017 into the new building. The doctor personally landscaped the flower beds in front of the office and maintains them. His hobbies include gardening, sailing, sea kayaking, roller blading, and cross-country skiing. He is married with two children.

Dr Sefranek is the best in the area!! Always goes above and beyond for his patients!! Does everything to help my daughter he can and makes the best decisions. My daughter is 10 been going there for 3 years she loves him!! She is never nervous or scared to go!!.. I am the one who is because all my bad experiences with dentist!! He and his assistants make me comfortable and over come my fears to be in a dentist office!! Best place around just visited today.. 5/17/22

Our family has been going to this practice for 8+ years. Very clean office, super friendly staff, the best hygienist I have ever had. And the dentist is very passionate about his work. He does the best dental work in the area. Very patient and goes above and beyond for his patients. Thank you!

I have had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Sefranek. All three of my children go there and they love it, from coloring, doing puzzles, or looking at there beautiful fish in the waiting room to how they feel like big kids when in the room. All the staff are extremely nice and know how to put the kids at ease. I've been asked "why dont you take them to Kool Smiles or Dental Dreams they have slides and child areas" my response is always I would rather my kids go to a dentist that doesn't fill my kids mouth with silver and explain to me the best ways to stop cavities, Instead of the zombies dentist out there where its just open wide no communication you have no clue whats going on , Dr. Sefranek is very personable , explains whats going on, how to prevent cavities, and is just an all around good person. I would definitely recommend Advanced Family Dental to anyone looking for great dentist.

Dr. Sefranek is rude and unprofessional. He interjected his personal opinions on my family's choice to move out of Massachusetts, which quite frankly isn't his business to be commenting on. He became very aggressive very quickly. I've never had such an uncomfortable experience with a medical professional before. I always felt uneasy, that he never said hello or really acknowledged my children (his patients), but this last experience was just outright bizarre. I also didn't appreciate him putting his hands on my daughters body to adjust her place in the seat without asking her permission. I would not recommend Barrington Family Dental. I will say, the secretary and the dental assistants have always been a pleasure and extremely helpful.

I came here looking for a tooth extraction. Instead I got a sales pitch on a root canal and charged $100 to be told he doesn't do extractions. I walked away feeling swindled. On a positive note, there wasn't another patient in sight, so no waiting.

I did not even get passed reviewing xrays as I walked out shortly after getting them done because the moment Dr. Sefranek came into the room, he was very rude in a condescending way which made me feel very uncomfortable. I ignored it at first until we were going through medical history and I stated that I had gained weight after losing over 115 pounds, but I do eat healthy. He then asked "If you're eating healthy, then why did you gain so much weight back?" I was in complete shock! I suffer from a binge eating disorder, severe depression and anxiety. Shame on you for talking to a patient like that, you do not realize what someone is going through and how your words affect other people. So very unprofessional!! Thank you for the lovely blonde that was in the room with us, she calmed me down and walked me to my car. This man should not be working with people!!!!

Had an emergency Broken tooth last minute on a Friday when most places were closed. They took me in and fixed it! Great work and they care about people! They stayed late on a Friday! Highly recommended!!

Took my Son to get exam for braces or bridge the doctor did not want to give us answers he just wanted to know if we had $9000 .. so we told him if he needs help we will do what we have to do he didn't want to hear that he kept on pursuing if we have the $9000 he did not want to give us any kind of answers and he was very rude And he kept on asking this in front of my son Making him feel bad thinking that we don't want to help our son On our way back home our son told his mom if you don't have the money don't worry about it I'll fix my teeth another time we told him we have the money to fix whatever he needs done ... but we not going to that dentist anymore he should not work with kids

I could not possibly recommend a better office to go to for dental work. Dr. Sefranek really cares about the results of his patients and for their overall health. Moreover, the assistants there are kind and considerate. The office offers a wide array of services including orthodontic treatment, cosmetic dentistry, implants, root canals, crown & bridge, and TMJ/TMD treatment for jaw joint pain. He will tell you straightforwardly about what you need for your health and is a very honest and caring person.
