Barrett Family Orthodontics is a patient-centered, technologically-advanced orthodontic practice serving residents of San Luis Obispo and Los Osos, CA. A single-doctor practice, we focus on providing comprehensive, individualized treatment. We offer a wide range of orthodontic procedures, from conventional braces to Invisalign, ensuring that patients of all ages can enjoy beautiful, functional, healthy smiles.
Located on Higuera Street between Toro Street and Johnson Avenue, our practice is just south of the Mill Street Historic District. We have been proudly serving patients in our community for over 20 years.
Dr. Jeremy Barrett is a board certified orthodontist in San Luis Obispo, CA and Los Osos, CA specializing in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics for children and adults. Understanding that every individual grows and develops in a unique manner, Dr. Barrett thoughtfully diagnosis and treats every patient on an individual level and carefully determines the best treatment approach. Dr. Barrett wants every patient to feel as comfortable as possible while obtaining the best care for their orthodontic and always gives the utmost care and compassion to assure his patients are well cared for.
Growing up in Reno, Nevada, Dr. Barrett attended the University of Nevada, Reno for his bachelors degree and graduated with an advanced diploma with distinction in Cellular Biology. After graduating from undergrad, Dr. Barrett immediately applied to dental school and was honored to attend the University of California, Los Angeles. It was during dental school that Dr. Barrett developed his passion for orthodontics. He loved the mechanics of orthodontics and the beautiful smiles he was able to help create. After graduating from dental school at UCLA, Dr. Barrett was accepted to the UCLA orthodontic residency for an additional three year of specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics where he learned the intricacies of utilizing conventional braces and Invisalign.
While not caring for patients in SLO and Los Osos, Dr. Barrett spends his free time taking family trips with his wife and three, energetic, young sons all around the fantastic central coast. He also loves to watch and participate in all sports but his favorites are snowboarding, golf, and endurance sports. He is constantly training for trail runs in Montana de Oro, or as he puts it, the best after work run in the world.
Hello my name is Erica, I am the Treatment Coordinator here at Barrett Family Orthodontics. I have been in the Orthodontic field since 2002 and absolutely love it! It is so rewarding getting to know our patients and their families and watching our patients confidence grow as their smiles are transformed. Here at Barrett Family Orthodontics we are like a family and hope you will feel the same when you walk through our front door. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and experiencing all that our beautiful Central Coast has to offer.
I am the Scheduling Coordinator for Barrett Family Orthodontics, and I will be the first person to greet you as you walk through our front door, and will help accommodate you with your scheduling needs. I have been in the Orthodontic field for over fifteen years. I enjoy meeting each of our families and watching the wonderful changes in their smiles. When I am not at work I enjoy reading, wine tasting, snorkeling in Hawaii and spending time with my husband, our children and our sweet labrador.
Hi Im Lacey and Ive been in Orthodontics since 2007. I love seeing the changes each patient goes through during the process of creating a beautiful smile and a functional bite. I also make most of the appliances that we will use in your mouth, including your retainers at the end of treatment so please wear them! See you in the chair!
I joined Barrett Family Orthodontics earlier this year to gain hands on experience while pursuing a career in dental hygiene. Although I am new to Orthodontics, I love seeing the positive impact our office has on the community. When I am not at school or work, I spend all of my time outdoors enjoying the beautiful Central Coast.
I have had the pleasure of working in the dental field for the past five years and really enjoy working with adults and children. San Luis Obispo County has been my home for over a decade now, but I am originally from Plumas County. In my free time I enjoy art, skateboarding and spending time with my daughter outdoors.
I am a registered dental assistant and have been working in the Orthodontic field for over ten years. What I enjoy the most about orthodontics is getting to know our patients and their families, and seeing the amazing changes and confidence they get through straightening their teeth. I spend most of my free time hanging out with my daughter Penelope and baking goodies. Our family loves spending time outdoors so you will probably find us at one of our local beaches enjoying the sunshine!
I am the Financial/Insurance Coordinator for Barrett Family Orthodontics. I have 12 plus years of experience in the financial department. Seeing our patients blossom into confident individuals after orthodontic treatment is what I enjoy the most about working here. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
I am the Treatment Coordinator here at Barrett Family Orthodontics and I have worked in the dental field for 18 years. I have experience in clinical, front office and management in the dental practice. I absolutely love working in dentistry! This is my first time working in Orthodontics and I enjoy learning all about it! Outside of work I spend a lot of time outdoors working in my garden, hiking, camping and kayaking. I look forward to meeting you and your family!

The staff in the office is amazing. It's clear the whole team enjoys their work, and has a great relationship with Dr Barrett. They are organized, proactive and able to confidently advocate for patients and actually get results.

Not all orthodontists are created equal. We actually started treatment with Dr. Barrett in another office which was only 5 minutes from our home. Then he left that practice and started his own practice which was now 45 minutes away from us. We followed him anyway. We had built such a trusting relationship that I just couldn't imagine starting over with another orthodontist. He started treating my youngest son when he was only 6 and we had to expand his jaw. I was terrified by all the contraptions and both my son and I had so many questions. Dr. Barrett patiently answered each question always listening to our concerns and never making me feel like my questions were not valuable. My oldest son started with Dr. Barrett when he was 12. And today - November 11, 2021 - he got his braces off! I think Dr. Barrett was just as excited for my son as my son was to get them off. Again my oldest son's case was very different from my youngest. So new questions and again new worries. I was constantly reassured and my questions were always answered. This process can be frightening and a calm and caring orthodontist, who is really willing to listen and knowledgeable, is more important to me than anything else. Dr. Barrett is always wearing a smile, he has a positive attitude, he is so enthusiastic about what he does, he has a "can do" attitude, he is great with children and is so easy to talk to about any and all concerns. The office is comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. I must give a shout out to one of the orthodontist assistants name Jenise. She is amazing! She knows exactly what do and is willing to walk us through every single step of the process. She is calm and caring. Not only is she a professional in her work but she is so good at making everyone feel comfortable and safe. We are so grateful to both Dr. Barrett and Jenise for making this a positive experience. We would highly recommend Barrett Family Orthodontics for any and all of your orthodontic needs.

My experience has been above and beyond what I expected. The staff is always so cheery and fun, yet professional. You can tell everyone enjoys working there. Dr Barrett is very knowledgeable and I felt like he spent a lot of time making sure I understood the process and he answered all of my questions. Thank you Barrett Family for making my experience great! I always look forward to going to the orthodontist!

Share review 2/27/2020 This used to be a great office, when my daughter initially started her treatment. I wish I would of known the changes coming after Dr. Milde left. Bonnie at the front desk is rude and it seems she doesn't enjoy her job. Recently I had a conversation with Dr. Barrett and he talked to me in a very descending way, with no professionalism at all (left crying) Honestly for the price of a full braces treatment, you would think it would be a pleasant experience. It's so complicated to get an appointment at this office, if you are looking for an orthodontist please look elsewhere. Trust me, I even heard another parent complaining while at the office waiting to be seen.

I highly recommend Dr. Barrett, he is not only very kind but is also committed to excellence. He listened to all my concerns regarding my teeth and explained how he would fix them.
