Born and raised in North Tacoma, Dr. Jennifer Barrett attended Lowell, Mason, and Stadium before graduating and attending Washington State University. She earned her degree in Biology, then went on to Indiana University School of Dentistry to become a dentist. Dr. Barrett has also received training from the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle.
Rose Front OfficeRose graduated with a medicaloffice administrative certificate in 2017 and has been working in the dental field since! She is very outgoing and enjoys riding go-karts, kayaking, or camping in the woods with her family and dog.
Destini Hygienist Destini graduated from Eastern Washington University earning her Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene. She has always found joy in helping others and creating happy and healthy smiles. In her free time, she likes walking by the water, playing with her dog, and attending music festivals. She believes this is the perfect office for her, as everyone is kind, understanding, and passionate about our patients!
Maryam HygienistMaryam has been working in the dental field for 13 years, starting out as an assistant and then returning to school for dental hygiene. She loves what she does and takes great pride in providing the very best care for her patients. She loves to read, run, and play soccer. Maryam, her husband, and her 2 daughters live in the University Place area.
Kayla Dental AssistantKayla has been working as an assistant for 9 years and loves working in such a friendly office! She loves that her job allows her to provide quality dental care while making the patient feel at ease in the office. She enjoys country festivals, and spending time with family and friends while sitting around bonfires on warm summer nights!
Jolie DentalAssistant Jolie has been an assistant for 28 years and absolutely loves what she does. Her goal is to make her patients experience the best that it can be! She brings a very positive attitude towards the office. She loves to garden and be outdoors as much as possible.

I am always satisfied with Barrett Family Dental....Service and workers are extremely dedicated and knowledgeable and Dr Barrett is The Best....been with this clinic since 1996...Keep doing What You are Doing!!!

My first visit to Dr. Barrett went well. My only concerns were that I felt like the hygienist/assistant was using a bit of a fake nice voice, kind of like how one would talk to a dog at the vet; and Dr. Barrett recommended a Rx toothpaste, which the office sold to me. Medical providers recommending products they sell tends to put me on alert, due to conflict of interest concerns. The visit felt awkward, like there was something they weren't telling me. The information and opinions Dr. Barrett provided were reasonable, well-explained, and consistent with previous dentists. In the end, I liked Dr. Barrett, but the jury is still out. Based on a couple of prior bad experiences, it will take time to build trust.

I appreciate how friendly everyone here is. Parking is good. Good reminders via text. Mariam is a fantastic dental hygienist. Dr. Barrett is always very friendly as well. They do provide floss samples, you just have to ask. I'll see them again in 5 months!

I came in June 2017 with a broken tooth ultimately requiring a root canal and from the start they have been extremely accommodating and kind. The tooth caused quite a bit of discomfort and They were very quick to get me in. They were extremely careful not to cause any more pain than I was already experiencing. The entire staff is top notch and friendly. The office itself is very clean. I would recommend them to anyone meeting a family dentist. UPDATE Sept 2022: I've been coming here for several years now and continue to be very happy with Dr Barrett and her staff. All are very friendly professional and do their jobs well. The office is always very clean.

First I want to start out by saying I have high anxiety when it comes to dental visits where it has stopped me from getting the oral care I need. Dr. Barrett and her team changed all that! She shows so much compassion in her care for patients and individual treatments. She is very patient, listens, has sound judgment and makes sure you are comfortable. She is funny too! Her team - from the front desk to the hygienists are all a pleasure to work with; I feel like I've gained new friends. I honestly don't know where I'd be - or my teeth - if it wasn't for this office of incredible people.

First visit. Excellent. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Molly worked with me to schedule a time that worked for me, and was extremely helpful in reviewing my insurance plan & coverage, even after I blanked on my new patient paperwork. Destini & Kayla were terrific during my cleaning and X-rays - they were thorough, gentle, and explained everything that they were doing as we went, which was nice. Dr Barrett was the same; she sat and introduced herself and talked with me to get to know me as a patient before starting her assessment, and she debriefed ime on any findings throughout my work up. Everyone was cheerful and worked well together - seems like a strong team. Highly recommend.

Barrett Family Dental is a wonderful practice. Everyone who works there is super nice and down to earth. Going in for an appointment is like going to catch up with some old friends. They do a great job taking care of my family and our teeth. One of the best things about their practice is that they make crowns in house, same day. No temporary crown and followup appointment necessary!

I'm new to the area and they were able to get me in right away about an ongoing issue I've been having. Both the staff and Dr. Barrett treated me like I had been their patient for years and were great about educating me on my dental plan. Highly recommend Dr. Barrett and her team.

I've been going to Barrett Dental for about 5 years now and have been completely happy with my experiences with them. The staff is very friendly and fun and you can tell they all enjoy working there. Compared to other places I've gone in the past, you can tell Continued Education is an important part of who they are. Highly recommended!

Never thought I'd say that I actually like going to the dentist, but I do now! Dr. Barrett is awesome -- upbeat, caring, uses the latest technology, and really patient-centered. The staff are great, too. And there's a 3-D printer for making crowns while you wait!
