Dr. Barone is a fourth-generation Rhode Islander, having grown up in Warwick and currently residing in Lincoln with his wife Diane, whom he met in the first grade. He has made a habit of total involvement, commitment, and effort in every stage of his life. At Bishop Hendricken High School, he graduated as a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society, won all-state honors for his play on the varsity football team and received the Leadership Service Award. He also graduated with honors from Boston University, and at Georgetown University, he received the E. Reed Smith Award for pediatric dentistry and was inducted into the International Dental Honor Fraternity of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He went on to complete his orthodontic specialty at Virginia Commonwealth University-Medical College of Virginia.
Orthodontics is a walk of life that requires considerable training and specialized study. It imposes the responsibility to keep getting better and exploring all avenues associated with providing optimum treatment and patient experience, says Dr. Barone.
Since starting private practice in North Providence in 1977, Dr. Barone has been active in his community and professional activities. He has served with distinction on the Rhode Island State Senate Oral Health Care Commission and the Rhode Island Department of Health Oral Health Care Advisory Board. He has held numerous leadership positions, having been president of the Providence District Dental Society, the Rhode Island Dental Association, the Rhode Island Association of Orthodontists, the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. Currently, he is a director on the American Board of Orthodontics.
His professional peers have recognized his contributions, and he has received multiple leadership and achievement awardsmost recently, the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists highest honor, the Service Award. Additionally, his peers have voted him as one of Rhode Islands top orthodontists each time since 1999. Dr. Barone was one of the first orthodontists in Rhode Island to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and president of the Rhode Island Dental Foundation.
Dr. Barone is a leader in sharing his professional skills and those of his peers. He is immediate past-president of the Rhode Island Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped, Donated Dental Services, and was a leader in developing a national program of Donated Orthodontic Service for the under-privileged and disabled children.
His biggest personal satisfaction, however, comes not from the awards but from having been instrumental in enabling thousands of patients over his 40-year career to achieve healthy smiles. Nicole graduated from Smithfield High School and studied dental assisting at Lincoln Technical Institute. She is a Certified Dental Assistant, Certified Orthodontic Assistant through the Dental Assisting National Boards, and is certified in CPR. She joined Barone Orthodontics in 2015 to train new dental assistants and assist the doctors in the clinic.
Nicole always tries to make time for quiet reading and creative hands-on projects at home. What she loves most is spending time with her children anddoing seasonal activities or just keeping active outdoors.
Keri joined Barone Orthodontics in December 2013. A graduate of Davies Career and Tech High School, Keri went on to complete Lincoln Tech Dental Assisting Program. She is CPR and radiology certified. Keri loves the interaction with patients and takes particular joy in seeing patients from the beginning of their orthodontic treatment to their final stages.
She resides in Seekonk with her family. In her spare time, Keri works as a hair stylist, enjoys being involved in the community and volunteering at her daughter's school, and is a Red Sox fan. Keri also volunteers as a CCD teacher.
Alyssa joined the Barone team in 2016. She attended Lincoln Technical Institute, is certified in radiology, and is a Certified Dental Assistant. She works with many of our new patients during the beginning stages of treatment by taking photos and X-rays, assisting in exams, and conducting consults. Alyssa feels fortunate to work with two amazing doctors in such a great atmosphere.
Katie joined Barone Orthodontics in 2010 as an orthodontic assistant. A graduate of Tolman High School, she received her dental assisting training at Lincoln Technical Institute, is a Certified Orthodontic Assistant through the Dental Assisting National Boards, and is certified in CPR. Katie enjoys meeting new patients and helping create brilliant smiles. She also finds she learns new things every day and greatly appreciates her co-workers' teamwork.
Mireille joined Barone Orthodontics in January 2015 as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant. She is a graduate of Crosby High School in Waterbury, CT, and graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in dental assisting. Mireille is a CNA and holds certificates in CPR and dental radiology. She finds great satisfaction in getting to know our patients, making a positive difference in their lives, and seeing their beautiful smiles at the end of treatment.
Mireille resides in Woonsocket, RI, with her husband Jorge, their five children, a chocolate Lab named Bruno, and two parakeets. She loves being with family and friends, and making memories that last a lifetime.
