I'm a new resident on the cape. Finding a dentist isn't an easy task! Well I got lucky! I've been to Barnstable Dental Associates twice now, and have NEVER had such a great experience! Dr Demarest and the entire staff are professional and compassionate. A rare combination these days. Not to mention how safe I felt during this pandemic. They go above and beyond in every way. I'm a lifer!

I started going to see Dr. Demarest after avoiding the dentist for awhile after having some negative experiences at different dentist offices. I actually wrote on my intake paperwork "please be nice to me". From the front desk receptionists to the hygienists to the Dr. everyone is funny, kind and happy. It feels super comfortable. Dr. Demarest recommended I receive some sedation dentistry because I had a significant amount of work that needed to be done. The plan was broken down into easy to handle steps. I have since had 3 sedation sessions and my teeth feel great! The benefit to doing the sedation session is that alot of work can be done at once and it's not uncomfortable at all, you don't feel anything, really. I don't have tooth pain anymore and I can smile without feeling like I need to hide my teeth. Dr. Demarest is very caring and has absolutely earned my full trust. I actually enjoy going to the dentist now. If anyone is feeling nervous about the dentist I highly suggest this office.

If I could say one thing about Barnstable Dental, it's that they are life changers! If you are an anxious dental patient, do yourself a favor and GO HERE!!! I drove 1.5 hours to this location for close to three years simply because it is the best dentist practice/team EVER. I went from a having debilitating dental phobia where I avoided the dentist for 12+ years to finally making an appointment with Dr. D and her team. It started with nitrous assisted cleanings and fully sedated fillings, to getting and completing Invisalign (my dental goal!), and getting my wisdom teeth removed. And now I get my cleanings done with zero assistance. All thanks to them!! From the front office staff being so encouraging (Jen!), to all the great hygienists/assistants who are beyond patient when I would start to get anxious (Becky!), and to the amazing Dr. D. She called me the day before my first appointment (a cleaning) to see how I was feeling and to go through what will happen during the exam. At that cleaning she found four cavities and for those I elected to be fully sedated, with both medication and nitrous. The experience was so smooth (NOT traumatizing!!), where you are the only patient in the office so you don't have to worry about being embarrassed. The dental assistant and Dr. D were beyond kind/empathetic, understanding, let me take as many breathers as I needed, and never once made me feel self conscious, no matter how many tears or panic attacks there were during the appointment. They were my biggest cheerleaders and I will ALWAYS be grateful for them. The amount of love and support I felt every single time I walked in that office made my appointments worth it and I even looked forward to seeing my Barnstable family! Because that's what this office is- a family who goes to great lengths to ensure anxious and avoidant dental patients get the care they need in a compassionate and safe environment. And let me say, Dr. D and her team have knocked that out of the park and should serve as the gold standard for every dental office in the country. I sadly moved =3 hours away and switched practices but that is ONLY, and I mean only, because DB helped me overcome my extreme fear of the dentist. Without them, I would be in year 15/16 of avoiding the dentist but now I have great oral health and do not dread my semi-annual cleanings- in fact, I almost look forward to them! Thank you a million times over to this godsend of a office for all that you do.

I was scared to death to sit in a dental chair - even for a routine cleaning - due to an experience in a prior dental office. Dr. Demarest and her staff have totally put my fears to rest. The entire office staff are professional, compassionate and top notch in their field.
