Bara Dental was first opened in 1999 and was located at 59 West Main Street, just across from the current office at 62 West Main Street in Hillsboro, NH. Dr. Bara wanted to offer the community access to state of the art dental technology at an affordable rate. Bara Dental strives to keep a small town feel with modern technology that exceeds any big city office. This philosophy has led to the unprecedented growth of the practice prompting the move to the newly constructed, much larger facility located at The Dutton Twins. We here at Bara Dental like to think of all our patients as members of our Dental Family.
The Dutton Twins are two elaborate, twin houses with Romanesque columns at each entrance. They were connected by a barn between both buildings (the current location of Bara Dental). The Twins were built in the 1850s by Ephraim Dutton and his son, Benjamin. The Twin houses remained in the Dutton family until 1878 when the property was sold to George Gould.
The Goulds held ownership until 1926 when the Dutton Twins were purchased by Joseph Garofoli. The Garofolis owned the property from 1926 1986, when Mary Garofoli sold it to The First New Hampshire Development Corporation in Bedford, NH. This was the first time in the history of the Twins that the mansion was not used as a Homestead Property.
In September of 1992 Hilco Property Services offered the property at Public Auction, and it was purchased by a local Hillsboro resident, Richard W. Withington, who repaired and restored the Twins and cleared the landscape so that the Contoocook River could be enjoyed from the property. The Dutton Twins changed ownership once again in 1998 when it was purchased by Gloria and Mike Reopel, who sold it BARA DENTAL in December of 2014 to begin an extensive change of use to Dental Offices, while maintaining the historic character of the building. Bara Dental opened for business and saw our first patients at the new location on December 22, 2015.
