Dr. Kim Simonds started working part-time as a dental assistant during high school with her father, Dr. Robert Schrameyer, the founder of Ballwin Dental Care. She enjoyed it so much that she decided to become a dentist. She received her undergrad at the University of Kansas and then earned her doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School in 1998. After dental school, she practiced for three years with the Public Health Service treating the needs of under-served children in the Quincy, Illinois area.
In 2001, Dr. Simonds officially joined the staff at Ballwin Dental Care, the practice she now owns. She has participated in the Greater St. Louis Dental Societys New Dentist Committee and is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics, and the St. Louis Dental Society. Dr. Simonds has been repeatedly voted a Top Dentist by St. Louis Magazine.
Dr. McCarthy joined our practice in June of 2018. Dr. John is a St. Louis native who attended DeSmet High School and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri with a degree in Biology. Like Dr. Simonds, he did his graduate work at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry. Following graduation from UMKC, Dr. John completed his residency at Oklahoma University, where he focused on surgical implants and dentures.
Dr. Rachel Ragsdale is a St. Louis native, born and raised in St. Louis County. She did her undergrad work at the University of Missouri, Columbia, finishing in three years and graduating Summa Cum Laude! Dr. Ragsdale received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri Kansas City, School of Dentistry.
During her time in dental school, Dr. Ragsdale developed a passion for restorative dentistry. She loved the difference she could make in someones life by improving their smile. She graduated with honors in Advanced Restorative Studies, and was awarded the American College of Prosthodontics Outstanding Achievement Award.
Dr. Ragsdale remains up to date with the latest techniques in restorative and cosmetic dentistry by attending Continuing Education and advanced training courses. Dr. Ragsdale has also had extensive training in facial aesthetics (Botox, Kybella, Voluma & dermal filler) and is Board Certified in Aesthetics through the American Academy of Procedural Medicine. She is active in the dental community, and is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Missouri Dental Association.
In her free time, Dr. Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, cooking and traveling. She is also an avid reader and loves staying up to date with all things dental. Dr. Ragsdale firmly believes in the power of a great smile and its ability to improve ones confidence and life.

I was greeted and given a fantastic tour by Gina! Shortly thereafter Sophia examined a tooth I was concerned about, took a few X-rays, then brought in Dr. Hannah. Dr. Hannah was very kind, she took a look at my tooth and the X-rays Sophia took. They created a treatment plan for me and sent me on my way! I was in and out within an hour! This business is professional, modern, and truly cares about your health!

Absolutely taken back how great a visit this was. For someone who hates the dentist I look forward to coming back and having work done with them. Felt as if I was at a day spa, everyone was so nice, very clean and professional. They have extra services that no one else offers that really set the bar on what every office should be like. Definitely recommend coming here and just give them a try and you'll be hooked!!

Wow, this place needs to handle communication better. This place can overly communicate on reminders on appointments (4-5 within a day) but when it comes to a $16 balance (yes, only $16!) because insurance only paid a certain amount, they only send the bill via mailing address. It had been since February 2022 (7-8 months ago) since my past appointment. I moved out of state months ago, so my mailing address they had was wrong. When they get the bill sent back to them and didn't hear back from me (since my mailing address is old in their system), they wait 6 months to threaten me with sending me to collections... over $16. I received NO phone call when the bill was sent back to them via mail. They have my cell number correctly since they texted me to say they are sending me to collections 6 months after the issue. But don't worry, when I had an appointment with them, they had no problem calling, emailing AND texting me multiple times within a few days. I got over the multiple communications in a few days, but trying to send me to collections for $16 when they made no effort to actually pick up the phone and call me for over 6 months. They just sent me a text on Sept 15 (which shows they know my phone number to actually call me) saying my balance is overdue and I'll be sent to collections if I don't pay it. Screenshot of my text in the photos. Beware, customers and potential customers. Meanwhile, I haven't lived in Missouri since April and I haven't been to their office since February... A simple recent phone call would have resolved all this....

The best dental office ever! So professional, organized, beautiful office and everyone is so friendly. My comfort was a priority. Thank you so much, I'm glad I finally found BDC!! If you are looking for a dentist I recommend 100% you will not be disappointed.

I recently had cavities filled, Macey and Dr. Maya were very nice. They made sure I was comfortable and I was able to leave the appointment pretty much pain free. Ally, at the checkout counter was also very courteous and was able to answer all my questions. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a dentist!

I have a brother who has special needs who has been coming to Ballwin Dental Care for many years. From the time we come in the door the staff right away greets him by name and this helps put him at ease. Meghan is usually the dental assistant who works with him. She is patient, professional, compassionate and will talk with him about things from his last visit six months ago! He tries his best to be a good patient for her. Dr Kim came in and she too had an easy going approach. Checkout with Kathy went smooth. Kudos to everyone in this office for their kindness and professionalism!

I 100% recommend Ballwin Dental Care to anyone looking for an amazing dental group. Dr. Maya and her assistant Ashley were so awesome at making sure I was comfortable and walking me through my entire procedure. I had a wisdom tooth removed and with all the horror stories I've heard, this team made me feel so at ease. They're all about the comfort of the patient and I mean down to a pillow or a blanket if you need one. There's not enough stars on Google that could accurately describe their excellence!!!! Thank you Dr. Maya, Ashley and the whole team for changing my experience and expectation of what a dental visit should be!!!!!

Well, I never ever thought I would say this about a dentist office but I actually look forward to working with the staff at Ballwin Dental Care! From the front desk personnel (always happy and friendly! You can tell they love to be there) to Amy in the financial dept (super thorough, thoughtful, patient, and friendly) there's literally not another dental office with such positive energy around here! Aaaaand even during my procedure!! Ashley was soooo good and easing my mind during injections and Dr. John was a total professional! I actually have a great time while in session somehow hahaha!! I honestly don't think I've trusted a dental office like I do this one. I'm so thankful my sister recommended me to this office! Bravo and thank you so much I'm going to go floss now

Extremely heartwarming and dedicated staff. Most recently, I had to get a cavity filled and my dental assistant Sonja stayed with me the entire time, knowing I was extremely anxious about the numbing shots. She made sure I knew I wasn't alone and that I'd be okay. You don't see kindness like that much, and I appreciate it when I do

I have had a few different dentists in my life. This is the first office that really cares about me as a person. I suffer with a fear of needles and vertigo. They are the friendliest group. They make sure that they address my needs and then they will proceed with the appointment. I have never been to such a friendly office. I love all the people that I have come in contact with because they treat you very well. I would recommend to anyone looking for a dental office. Thank you for your great service.

I had bridge put in and the Ballwin Dental team was awesome! It starts from time you get in the door and they remember your name till the end when they make sure all your questions are answered before you leave. During the procedure Marcy and Dr. Rachel were super nice and attentive making sure nothing hurts and I'm comfortable. I have been going there for years a will continue just because of their amazing service and quality work!

Called to schedule a cleaning and was told that I would have a call back because of my "previous visit last year." If it's what I'm thinking, it's because they raised up the price on me and cut a lot of corners with my doing my cleaning. I was willing to ignore the previous experience and give them another chance since they have my x-rays and oral hygiene information. I don't usually put one star reviews unless I'm truly dissatisfied and with the service in which I am with this practice. Save your money and go somewhere else because they're the type to value money more then providing a service to their costumers. Shame on you for such horrible service.
