Leading the team is Dr. Rick Ballard. He is delighted to have been welcomed to communities of hard-working, honest and caring people, and he feels Ballard Orthodontics fits right in literally, both in Sandpoint and in Bonners Ferry, where his offices are right across from the Middle School and High School.
In providing orthodontic treatment they always aim to exceed patient expectations, tailoring treatment plans to the specific needs of the individual. And whileproviding a high level of orthodontic care is prioritized, so is making your visit to the orthodontist as comfortable and pleasant as possible for kids and grown-ups alike.
Born in North Carolina, Dr. Rick Ballard grew up mostly in Utah, attending college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. This was followed by four years of dental school at Case School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Dr. Ballard then completed a one year dental residency at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, followed by an additional three-year orthodontic residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Having excelled during his orthodontic residency, he was invited to join the faculty at Vanderbilt, where he taught and practiced orthodontics until the spring of 2006, when he and his family moved to North Idaho.
Dr. Ballard is married to Rosalee, and the couple have six children four daughters and two sons. As a dad and an orthodontist, he is heartened that so many are taking advantage of the family-friendly orthodontic services Ballard Orthodontics provides. He says: Its extremely gratifying to also see that more and more parents are understanding the benefits their children can get from orthodontic treatment.
In his free time, Dr. Ballard enjoys the many outdoor activities North Idaho has to offer, including mountain biking and skiing. He also considers it a great privilege to volunteer and help out regularly at church.

The wonderful group of staff that makes up this office makes you feel like your family is a part of their family! They know each client personally and really take the time to make sure everything is comfortable and working properly. Bonus: you cannot beat the location of being right near SMS and SHS!

Having never had braces myself, when it came time for my son to receive orthodontia care, I was a tad anxious. With a team like Dr. Ballard and his pro's working together as they do, I had nothing to be anxious about. My son's experience thus far has been fantastic. We know what to expect and our questions are answered before we even know we had the question! I highly recommend Dr. Ballard and his team.

Ballard Orthodontist is hands down the best Orthodontist around. His staff is top notch, he is always on time, appointments are quick and super easy to schedule/reschedule. I am a very hard person to please, but these guys exceeded my expectations!! I highly recommend them.

I just love everybody in this office! They are friendly, professional and always happy to see you. Dr. Ballard is amazing, not only as an orthodontist but as a person. He always takes his time to chat, check in with you, see how you are doing and always has a cheesy joke or two to tell. His knowledge as a doctor shows in his work. He strives for perfection and knows how to get there. He will take his time to explane and answer all your questions. Hands down this is the place to go for orthodontics.

I loved the crew at Ballard, every single time I came in they knew me by name, asked about my passions and truly tried to make my experience enjoyable. Probably a hard task because I DO NOT like people probing around in my mouth! But nonetheless, they made me feel right at home. The receptionists Sally and Ashley were always cracking jokes and telling stories, we shared many laughs. My orthodontic assistant Lana was always ready to give me grief about how I wasn't wearing my rubber bands at night ha! And holy smokes.... Ballard is a character, watch out, he will make you laugh so hard your stomach hurts for an hour.
