Balboa Island Dentistry is a comprehensive prosthodontic dental practice serving Newport Beach, California, and the nearby region. The dedicated staff works together to provide patients with regular dental hygiene checkups and standard treatments including fillings, root canals, and periodontal treatment. In addition, the team offers specialized cosmetic dental services, including veneers, teeth whitening, and dental implants.
Dr. Stephen Alfano leads the team and ensures each patient receives the care they need and deserve. He's been practicing as a dentist for 24 years after earning his degree from the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio. He possesses board certification from the American Board of Prosthodontics. He has a long list of active memberships in reputable dental associations such as the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association.
Dr. Alfano treats a wide range of dental issues, including sleep apnea and temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ). He prescribes and customizes oral appliances as well as educates and improves patient's smiles using whitening procedures and veneers. Because he realizes the stress some feel when going to the dentist, he offers conscious sedation to relax the patient and possesses the necessary certification to administer this comfort measure.

Dr Alfano is a superb dentist always gives you great and honest advice, he gave me my smile back after struggling with another dentist, I'm for ever greatful to him, I had my teeth cleaned today, the hygienist, has tje softest hands, the best cleaning I have ever had, Super happy that have met this great team!

I always know I am getting state of the art treatment from the entire staff at Balboa Island Dentistry. It is great to be able to visit Dr. Alfano's offices! Protocols are in place to keep us safe and i appreciate the attitude of service the entire staff offers! If you have to have dental work, this is the place to go! The staff is so friendly and helpful. We had an emergency while traveling and staying on Balboa Island. So fortunate to find Dr. Alfano. He took care of John immediately. It turned out to be a 2+ month problem, but thankfully, Dr. Alfano and staff were amazing and did their Magic! We can't thank them enough! Bev and John

I've been going to Balboa Island Dentistry since 2009 - and have never had a better dental experience ever, anywhere. All of the staff are friendly, warm and professional. I was sad when Dr. Ballback retired, but Dr. Alfano has absolutely picked right up where Ballback left off. He is affable, skilled and generous with his time. If you're lucky enough to live anywhere in the OC/LA area, there is no better choice.

Everyone is so friendly and Dr. Alfano is the best! Going to the dentist is my least favorite thing to do but Balboa Dentistry is like going to visit friends. More importantly than that though is I know the work will always be top notch and painless. I drive all the way from Dana Point in heavy beach traffic just to get my teeth cleaned there. They're worth it. Simply the best!

I love Dr. Alfono and the entire team! I have terribly sensitive teeth and I am not the best dental patient. I feel very safe and completely taken care of during every visit! My entire family and extended family use Dr. Alfono :)
