Dr. Kurban graduated from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland Dental School in 1983, and moved to Boston soon after. While his primary focus is the dental health of his patients, he also enjoys teaching, and has been part of the faculty at Harvard School of Dental Medicine for more than 12 years.
Dr. Fereidouni moved to Boston from Nuerenberg, Germany, and graduated from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He also completed a post-graduate specialty program at Boston University with the department of Dental Implantology. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Fereidouni teaches at Boston University Dental School.
Dr. Agolli Tarshi graduated from Assumption College in 2001 with a dual degree in Psychology and Pre-Dental. She graduated from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUSDM) in 2008. She furthered her studies by enrolling in the BUSDMs prestigious advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) in 2009. She also received a Masters Degree (MSc) in Biomaterials by performing research at Boston Medical Center in 2010. Dr. Agolli-Tarshi completed her Specialty in Endodontics in 2012 from Boston University.
Dr. Laura Becerra received a DMD from European University of Madrid in 2000. She continued her education at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine from 2001 to 2004, earning both a Master of Science in Dentistry in Oral Biology, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Periodontology. Dr. Becerra is a very delicate, knowledgeable, and honest individual. She specializes in gum surgeries and implants and as well as an array of other services.
Poly joined the team in December of 2015. Shes been in the Dental Industry for over 7 years. One of the things she enjoys most about dentistry is seeing how changing a patients smile transforms their lives. The look of content on their faces when the process is complete.
Joanna is of Columbian heritage and was born in London, England. She has over 12 years experience in the dental field. What she loves most about her job is making every patient feel welcome and providing excellent customer service to each patient who comes to our office. In her spare time Joanna enjoys traveling, salsa dancing and spending time with her 2 year old daughter.
Holly graduated from Middlesex College with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene. She joined the team in 2016 and proudly provides exceptional dental care, genuinely cares about her patients and enjoys finding ways to improve every individuals oral health. In her spare time she enjoys traveling the world, and spending time with family.
Shawn, also known as the singing hygienist, is from a first-generation Bostonian family. She graduated from Middlesex Community College for dental hygiene, and has been with Back Bay Dental Design since 2006. She brings valued experience, knowledge and warmth to our practice. Shawn is the proud mother of Robert, 23, and Khamyle, 21.
Originally from Ukraine, Iryna has been in the U.S. since 2000. She graduated from Roane State Community College with a Student Total Achievement Recognition Award in 2009, and a certification in Administration of Local Anesthesia. She has a gentle touch and treats Back Bay Dental Design patients with the utmost care and compassion. Iryna also plays competitive tennis and enjoys traveling, skiing, and SCUBA diving.
Esmeralda graduated from Everest Institute and has been a dental assistant for more than seven years. She joined our practice in 2015, and loves being part of a team that is committed to providing the best and most up-to-date technology and services available to our patients. She enjoys getting to know patients, and making sure they have a pleasant visit.
Hector grew up in Uruguay, South America, before relocating to Boston in 1998. He holds a certification in business management for dental businesses, began working in the dental field in 2001, and joined our team in October 2016. Hector spends his free time with family, and enjoys cooking, traveling, camping, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. His true passions, however are his three rescued cats, Princess, Ruby, and Floyd, who is blind.

When I learned a friend's sister had traveled from her home in Washington DC to have an appointment at Back Bay Dental Design, my ears perked up. That's how I found them, and I can confirm they are worth it. BBDD is a spa for your teeth. Thoughtfully healthy care, attention to detail, aesthetic vision, gentle hands, and the casual offhand expertise of a team that deep down knows they are up to date in their care and really ARE that good... it feels like kindness to your mouth. Strong recommend.

Scheduled a routine cleaning and this place billed me for a full exam, which no dental office has ever done. Called them and two weeks later they still haven't called back and the office manager is conveniently never in the office when I call . Avoid going here. Update based on comment below- your office manger was not in and has never called me. And this appointment was scheduled as a "routine cleaning" via zoc doc. Your provider did absolutely nothing that other dentists don't do during routine cleanings and at every step I asked you to confirm that you had clearance for every procedure and you said yes. No dentist has ever billed me for any exam performed during a routine cleaning!. Additionally a full dental record including X-rays and notes was transferred to your office showing that yes a comprehensive exam (which typically includes a full mouth X-ray) was performed in 2019 . You didn't do anything besides routine cleaning/exam!!!

One of the best dental offices in Boston. The staff were all professional from start to finish. I was able to get a cleaning with Amanda and a complete exam with Dr. Fereidouni who was super professional and explained everything in detail. I would highly recommend them.

This practice is probably best for people without any dental phobia. The turnover is high and the communication isn't fantastic. I had some great experiences here with a dentist who left the practice. Every hygienist I've ever had here has been excellent. When my first dentist left, I tried another one in the practice who was also great, but when I showed up for a big procedure there was different dentist there to perform it who I'd never seen (I figured out that he was going to do the procedure by noticing he was the only one there; nobody told me before or even explained this to me when I showed up)--the new dentist was very nice but when he told me what he was seeing in my chart was different from what I'd previously discussed, I started to get nervous. I tried to work through it, but the explanations of pricing and expectation setting for the procedure (the one I actually needed) was so confusing and hard to follow--later the price and process for only half of the procedure was sent to me with an insurance statement attached; when I did the math for the entire procedure it painted a very different picture then what the email provided. When I asked for clarification the tone of the communication implied that I somehow I wasn't getting it, one email said, "I am not sure how I can make it any more clear" and even "you are emailing the front desk" as if I was asking the wrong person a question, when I was responding to the email address that had originally sent me the information. Hopefully this is a one-off experience--and as I'm writing this I'm realizing that my issues are all related to administration which hopefully can be trained and improved-- and that others will have better luck.

I always have a wonderful experience at BBDD. The staff is lovely and knowledgeable, and the service is above anything I've experienced with regards to dental practices. From run of the mill cleaning to tooth problems to cosmetic assistance, they are top notch.

The most professional team and Dr. Kurban literally has hands of gold (hands of prophets). Super friendly and decades worth of experience and expertise. They truly care, taking their time and being patient. I went to so many dentists trying to fix my front teeth and the only office that provided me with a real solution is Back Bay Dental Design. I am grateful forever and thank you so very much.

I am so impressed with Back Bay Dental Design. The front office staff are extremely polite and efficient. The dental assistant is also kind and competent. Dr. Amir F is very professional and has a sense of humor. I will definitely be going back for cleanings and cosmetic dental procedures.
