Because Chico has such a small-town feel, my professional and personal life are unique. I cannot go anywhere without seeing someone I know. This gives me and my family a great feeling of community and togetherness that I could not have if not for my profession and all my great patients.
I have been practicing orthodontics since 1989, and love the chance to get to know my wonderful patients! I love seeing the dental changes in my patients, but also love watching the changes a beautiful smile can make in their lives!
Each patient brings his or her own unique personality and treatment goals to the office. I enjoy getting to know each person individually and strive to make sure each experience is a great one. I enjoy the positive effect our patients have on us, as well as our positive effect on their lives.
My team brings their individual talents and personalities to create not only beautiful smiles but great relationships with our patients. Most of my team have been with me for years and feel like family. They make our patients feel like part of the family, too!
I graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1989. Then I obtained my Master of Science and completed my orthodontic residency at Loma Linda University in 1992.
I believe it is incredibly important to stay current with new techniques, technologies, and advancements within orthodontics and dentistry, so I attend numerous continuing education courses throughout the year. This commitment to continuing education enables me to provide my patients with the highest, most current orthodontics available.
I am originally from Apple Valley, and have lived in Chico since 1992. My lovely wifeDaniand I have a daughter named Kaila and a son named Kobe. When Im not in the office, I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and other outdoor sports.
I am also active in our community, and have been a member of the Chico Chamber of Commerce for more than 17 years. I have also been active with the Northern California Cleft Palate Panel for more than 15 years, and sponsor numerous community sports in Chico and surrounding areas.

Hi, I am a treatment coordinator and registered dental assistant. I speak with our new patients and make sure all their needs are met. I handle contracts, treatment planning, and Invisalign treatments. I love the opportunity to work with the community in making their smiles beautiful! Hi! My name is Breanna. I am the lab tech. I have been a dental assistant since 2009. I make most of the retainers, bleach trays and mouth guards in the office. I absolutely love it here. The environment is always fun and positive. I am really blessed to be part of such a good team.

Dr Hood is great, but unfortunately his staff is extremely snobby and disrespectful. I've had 2 horrible experiences now and we're only 6 months in for braces.There are plenty of orthodontists in this area, I'd suggest looking for another one unless you want to deal with attitude every appointment or even every time you call in with a question.

I love this place! The staff are very very nice and they care, I have a aunt that works there so I got in really fast for a consultation when I was wanting braces, Dr. Hood alone is the sweetest most nicest man I've ever known he's such a caring person that puts his patients first and he fixed one of my biggest insecurities and now I can't help but smile and show my perfect teeth that he gave me his work is absolutely astonishing, I love how when you go in for your check ups for your aftercare along with retainer check he can look into your mouth one second and then the next tell them what to do right away he truly knows what he's doing and I trusted him the first day I met him his pride for what he dose is great and like I said in the beginning the staff is the best! They greet you when you walk-in and it's very clean as well so if your wanting a place with good services this is the place you want, hands down.

Dr. Hood is THE BEST! I have lived in other countries, multiple states North Dakota and Washington (just to name a couple) and I can say with a great deal of certainty that we are insanely fortunate to have a doctor like Dr. Hood in our Chico community. He is the real deal, a straight shooter that has an incredible work ethic. He treats patients with genuine care that is really unmatched by any other. His staff (the women who work at the front desk), especially Marciela and Debbie are incredible human beings. I wish I could this place ten stars!

We love Dr. Hood. He moves fast, and does have a quirky sense of humor, but we have always felt it was one of camaraderie. My daughters teeth were very wonky, and he was honest that it was likely she would need 3 years and a stabilizing bar after, but that the extra time would not cost more. He also said that if she followed the rules (wearing the bands each night, etc. . ) to the letter that she could probably cut off some of the time. I like that he does not sugar coat things. His staff are efficient and keep to his pace, but they always make my daughter feel good. Everyone remembers my children's names, ask about their schooling, and life. I'm glad we picked him out of the phone book ;)
