We have a large clinical staff that includes general dentists, periodontal and prosthodontal specialists, and registered dental hygienists. Our clerical staff and certified dental assistants keep the office running smoothly.
Our team of registered dental assistants is responsible for helping the dentist in performing the procedure. This includes taking diagnostic x-rays, dental impressions, and a myriad of other tasks. Our assistants are calming and welcoming, and the atmosphere they create alleviates any anxiety a patient may have about visiting us.
B&G Dental has a long history of providing dental care to the greater Boston area. Our original location at 1259 Hyde Park Avenue has been an active dental practice since 1924. Dr. Richard Bankhead and Dr. Paul Groipen (the original B&G) purchased the practice in 1979. Dr. Stuart MacDonald, who began working with Drs. Bankhead and Groipen as a college student, purchased the practice in 2018. Dr. Stu looks forward to continuing the tradition of providing the best dental care for many years to come.
We have had neon flamingos living in our office windows for years. We have one in each office. People have come to recognize them as a local landmark. It certainly makes us easy to find! The reason we like flamingos is twofold.
First, the flamingo has an unusual jaw. Its upper jaw is mobile and its lower jaw is stationary (opposite or upside-down to ours). The second reason is we happened to see a vintage flamingo in Cape Cod, and we thought itd look great in our office window. And the rest is history!

Great care from Dr. Urdaneta and Myrtie -- good presentation of options, modern ideas, good procedure experience. Notable: they tell you everything that's going to happen before it does, which many others do not -- it makes a big difference in reducing any worry and anxiety you would otherwise have.

Update, May 2022: As usual, a pleasant, efficient and professional dental visit, this time with Dr. Sam for a look at the fit of my night guard (to protect teeth against damage from possible grinding while sleeping). The clinical and office staff at B&G are excellent. -- Here is my first review: had a very good initial appointment with Dr. MacDonald. The front desk staff and dental assistant were also very good. I am looking forward to getting some work done with them to get my mouth all "up to date."

B&G Dental has been my dentist for many years. The entire staff is awesome. 2 locations makes it very convenient especially as there is plenty of parking at both places.

This practice goes above and beyond to make communication work. Dr. Kirk was my dentist for 20+ years and I miss him terribly. Everyone in the practice was more than willing to help me navigate that loss and transition!! I'm very glad that I didn't leave after Dr. Kirk left. Everyone there is terriffic. A shout out to Steve, Meghan, Jane and Liz. I'm feeling grateful!!!

I had tooth bonding done at this appointment by Dr McDonald. He did a nice job in explaining the procedure beforehand and then did a nice job on my teeth - very painfree as well. He's also done a couple of crowns for me this past year. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Where can you go for a root canal and crown that takes approximately 2 hours and wish you could stay longer! Dr Martin is incredible. The massage chair, the TV with any movie you want and laughing gas to top it off make the experience enjoyable. Not your average dentist.
