Dr. Phillips was raised in the town of Houston, Delaware. He attended Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania and received his dental training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. Following a one-year hospital general dental residency program in Wilmington, Delaware, Dr. Phillips began a practice in general dentistry. After practicing as a general dentist for fourteen years, he returned to Philadelphia to complete his endodontic training at Temple University.
Dr. Phillips opened a solo practice in Newark, Delaware in 1993 and after six years, he added associate endodontists to the practice. He opened a satellite office in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania in 1999. In 2005, his associates purchased his two-office practice and he continued to work with them in Newark. In November 2010, Dr. Phillips opened his practice in Greenville, North Carolina.
Dr. Phillips has been a clinical instructor of endodontics at Christiana Care, Division of Dentistry; and a former president of the Delaware State Dental Society. He is a member of the Delaware Academy of Medicine, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Association of Endodontists, and the American Dental Association.
He has received awards from the Delaware State Dental Society, the Delaware Division of Public Health, the American Dental Association, and the American Association of Endodontists for his contribution to dentistry in the state of Delaware. He has participated in the Special Olympics Special Smiles since its inception in Delaware.
Dr. Phillips and his wife, Mary Lou, relocated to North Carolina in 2008. They have two daughters who live in Delaware and a son who lives in Wisconsin. Dr. Phillips enjoys training and spending time with his horses and dogs, whom he considers to be part of the family. As an endodontist, Dr. Phillips is committed to providing his patients with advanced, thorough care to help meet their dental needs.
Amber has been a dental assistant for a number of years and has worked with Dr. Phillips in Edenton. We are excited that Amber is working with us again. She is a great assistant and has been apart of our team since 2013. Amber loves spending time with her boys and dogs when not at work.
Vicky has been a part of our team in the past as an Office Coordinator. We are excited to have her return as a Dental Assistant. She loves going to the River and spending all of her free time with her son and family.
Victoria has been with us since 2017. She is responsible for scheduling, checking insurance, and other office needs. Victoria enjoys spending her free time with her husband, two children, and their dog.

The office was great from front desk to assistants and Dr. Phillips! Dr. Phillips was extremely patient and kind and explained everything as we proceeded. I was comfortable h th e entire time he did the root canal and never had any pain. I can't recommend this office enough!

Dr. Phillips is the best. His chair side demeanor was excellent he was able to keep me informed throughout the process. I was concerned about pain with root canals but my fear proved to be unfounded when working with Dr Phillips. You can tell he works hard to make sure the patient is informed and comfortable throughout the procedure. I will definitely go back to his office. The staff and Dr were wonderful.

I am the process of having my third root canal done by Dr. Phillips. I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism of everyone in this office. However; I really want to give Dr. Phillips his props. In my opinion, he has to be one of best doctor's in his field. I have never had any dentist to numb me in a manner as he does which causes very little or no pain. That in itself put you at ease and believe me when I say, he is one awesome doctor. I went there on January 9, 2020 with tears in my eyes, but he took good care of me. I have to return for a second visit, but after I got home and started my prescriptions, the pain and soreness from the procedure began to subside. Today, I feel so much better. Thank you Dr. Phillips and staff for your kindness, thoughtfulness, professionalism, promptness, thoroughness, caring and everything else great that you all do for your patients. You are such an awesome team!!!

The procedure was essentially pain-free (no way to make keeping your mouth open for 30-40 min comfortable) and the staff called the next day to make sure I was having no problems. And no problems with insurance or flex-spending. Overall very pleased, would recommend this practice.

I have received EXCELLENT service BOTH times I got root canals there. Extremely professional & friendly, & was very patient & comforting to me. Didn't feel a thing! & No pain afterwards! I will definitely be going back if I ever need another one!

I had a root canal done 11/13/18 and the staff was VERY professional and friendly. (That's very important to me) Dr. Phillips was literally amazing! He took his time and explained every step of the process & answered all of my questions. They made me very comfortable during the entire process. I'd DEFINITELY recommend this place..

I was referred to Dr. Phillips on the 4th with a cracked tooth, had initial visit on 5th, and root canal on 12th. Very good experience, thoroughly explained the procedure and what to expect. Dr. Phillips and staff are true professionals. Virtually no pain during or after procedure, only the normal mild discomfort associated with dental work. Highly recommend Dr. Phillips.

They do great work on root canals. They are great with kids and the numbing process is nothing. They are honestly the best dentist I've seen and known. They are true dentist and I recommend everyone to go them. 5 stars without a doubt.
