Dr.Shaun Kern is a distinguished board certified dentist with more than 20 years of experience in the dental field. He is the owner of Azalea City Dental and specializes in cosmetic dentistry for the whole family.
Dr.Kern graduated from Davidson High School in Mobile and later earned his bachelors degree from Birmingham Southern College. Following that, he attended The University of Alabama School of Denistry. He is licensed in the state of Alabama and is a member of the Mobile Area Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Denistry. Dr.Kern has pursued advanced training in his field including an implant mini residency in Yorda Linda, California, The Spears Mastership Program in Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as many other continuing education courses throughout the country.
In 2007, Dr.Kern moved his growing family from Mobile to Spanish Fort and feels blessed to practice dentistry on the eastern shore. He and his wife, Holly have been happily married since 2003. They have a son, Madden and a daughter, Graceyn who attend Spanish Fort Middle School and Rockwell Elementary School. Dr. Kern and his family attend City Hope Church. In addition to enjoying spending time with his family, Dr.Kern is an avid college football fan and outdoorsman. He particularly likes to boat and fish, both inshore and offshore.
Dr. Lovell graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1974. After graduation, Dr. Lovell entered the U. S. Navy Dental Corps. He then was in private practice in West Virginia from 1976-2003.
In 2008, Dr. Lovell was appointed to the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners as a consultant examiner. He remains involved with the testing agency. He began teaching in the Restorative Dentistry Department at West Virginia University in 2003 and left in 2016 as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Lovell has trained at some of the finest dental institutions in the country and offers a broad range of advanced skills. His background includes technical training designing comfortable and natural dentures, replacing missing teeth with innovative techniques, and correcting problems involving the jaw and bite.
His wife Kathy and he moved to Spanish Fort in February of 2016 when he joined the dental team at Azalea City Dental. The South has always been in Dr. Lovell's plans. With his familiarity of Orange Beach and the Gulf Shores area, Spanish Fort was a perfect choice to call home. Dr. Lovell is very close with his family: his daughter and her family live in Brewton, and his son lives in Paducah, Kentucky.

Dr Kern and the entire staff are just awesome! Quality care, quality service, professionalism, friendliness, and they take time to talk with you and never make you feel rushed. I can't imagine going anywhere else!

Staff is friendly and helpful, office is new and clean, Dr Kern is knowledgeable, friendly, and takes the time to discuss treatments. Great place!

Nice and friendly, and do a good job on their work, but the three locations means hours are limited (sometimes hard to get in), and (in my experience) they seem quick to go to a more expensive route (for instance, wanted to do a bridge for a broken tooth, when another dentist was willing, and able, to effect repair with a much less expensive crown). They also have a limited number of dental plans they work with, and if you're not on one of their plans, it's more money from you, the patient.

A change in insurance brought me to the Spanish Fort location & Dr. Lovell. Initially I was stressed changing from my dentist of many years but turns out it was the most positive encounter in my life. Don't hesitate to experience their genuinely caring and competent staff.
