Dr. Eric Axelrode received his B.A. in economics from U.C. Santa Cruz. He received his DDS from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. Dr. Eric completed a year of general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland Oregon, treating medically compromised patients. He practiced general dentistry in Oakland and San Pablo for three years prior to completing his orthodontic residency at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. During his residency he earned his certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Eric brings a unique approach in delivering excellent orthodontic care while understanding first hand the needs of the general dentist.
Dr. Eric and his wife, Monica, have two children, Jean-Luc and Leah. He is a native of Orinda and graduated from Miramonte High School. After studying in various places, he wanted to return to his roots to raise a family. Dr. Eric and his family live in Moraga, and enjoy being part of the community both personally and professionally. He enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, skiing and traveling.
Dr. Mark Axelrode received his B.A. in biology from U.C. San Diego. He received his DDS from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where he was elected to the dental honor society, and attended UCLA for his orthodontic residency where he earned his certificate and Master of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Mark has been practicing orthodontics since 1994, and enjoys providing outstanding care to his patients.
Please join us in welcoming Dr Niousha Sagafi to our practice. Dr. Saghafis educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego. Following graduation she worked at a research laboratory in San Diego studying neuron regeneration before starting her dental training. Dr. Saghafi earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UCSF School of Dentistry is San Francisco. She then moved to Seattle to complete her orthodontic residency at the University of Washington where she earned a Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science in Dentistry. After her residency, Dr. Saghafi successfully completed the American Board of Orthodontics certification exam. She practiced orthodontics in Oregon before making her way back to the Bay Area. Dr. Saghafi has extensive knowledge in treating patients using both traditional braces and Invisalign. She stays current on the latest dental procedures and technology through continuing education programs and scientific journals. In her spare time Dr. Saghafi enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction books, cooking, baking, and traveling.

Great Orthodontist. I really enjoy working with Dr. Maurice and all the technicians. At age 60 I'm using Invisalign to straighten my teeth and correct a narrow maxilla and protruding mandible. All 3 issues are almost entirely fixed at tray 15 of 24. I'm very impressed

I had my braces done here and had the worst experience. I lost two of my top teeth and now need two implants. When choosing an orthodontist choose wisely.

I started orthodontic treatment using Invisaligns. My teeth did not straiten properly so I was switched over to regular braces of my choice at no further charge. I was told from the beginning that sometimes Invisaligns do not work for some people. I only wish I hadn't let vanity get in my way and start with regular braces from the beginning. It was a long haul but it's done and I can smile! I recently had my last checkup but was told I could always come back if there are any problems. I always felt they wanted me to have the best outcome possible. Yes, orthodonture is expensive but so worth it. The Axelrode staff is very friendly and they all seem genuinely happy working there. They see a lot of patients at one time but the trained assistants are quite capable and I always saw the orthodontist as well at every appointment. The large office is cheerful, welcoming and always decorated for holidays. I will miss seeing them!

I wouldn't recommend going here. They have too many patients. Don't dare miss an appointment because there won't be another one available for two months out. My children complained about pain during adjustments and not feeling welcomed. I think they were once a great practice as I heard good reviews from past patients.

From the first appointment, the staff at Axelrode give the children a real sense of responsibility over their treatment plans. It's a relief to know that when you go in for an appointment at 2 pm, you'll be seen at 2 pm - not 2:30, not 3. The doctors are clear about the treatment plan they suggest for your children, and the progress has gone as planned without problems. The staff is professional, kind and competent. It's nice to go into a orthodontist office and see that the environment is set up with children's needs in mind: a media room with cartoons, a video game nook for siblings who are waiting, and colorful and themed decorations. While that in itself doesn't make a good orthodontist, it does show that they put thought and effort into all parts of what it's like to be a teen going to an ortho appointment. Our two children are both patients at Axelrode Orthodonics, and our experience has been great.

My daughter, son and I have each been treated at Axelrode Orthodontics. My kids each had traditional braces and I had Invisalign braces and we're all happy with the results. The people in this office are friendly and very professional and the office is very clean. My son appreciated the video game room, which kept him busy while waiting for his appointment! I highly recommend Axelrode Orthodontics!
