Dr. Eric Axelrode received his B.A. in economics from U.C. Santa Cruz. He received his DDS from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. Dr. Eric completed a year of general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland Oregon, treating medically compromised patients. He practiced general dentistry in Oakland and San Pablo for three years prior to completing his orthodontic residency at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. During his residency he earned his certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Eric brings a unique approach in delivering excellent orthodontic care while understanding first hand the needs of the general dentist.
Dr. Eric and his wife, Monica, have two children, Jean-Luc and Leah. He is a native of Orinda and graduated from Miramonte High School. After studying in various places, he wanted to return to his roots to raise a family. Dr. Eric and his family live in Moraga, and enjoy being part of the community both personally and professionally. He enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, skiing and traveling.
Dr. Mark Axelrode received his B.A. in biology from U.C. San Diego. He received his DDS from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where he was elected to the dental honor society, and attended UCLA for his orthodontic residency where he earned his certificate and Master of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Mark has been practicing orthodontics since 1994, and enjoys providing outstanding care to his patients.
Please join us in welcoming Dr Niousha Sagafi to our practice. Dr. Saghafis educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego. Following graduation she worked at a research laboratory in San Diego studying neuron regeneration before starting her dental training. Dr. Saghafi earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UCSF School of Dentistry is San Francisco. She then moved to Seattle to complete her orthodontic residency at the University of Washington where she earned a Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science in Dentistry. After her residency, Dr. Saghafi successfully completed the American Board of Orthodontics certification exam. She practiced orthodontics in Oregon before making her way back to the Bay Area. Dr. Saghafi has extensive knowledge in treating patients using both traditional braces and Invisalign. She stays current on the latest dental procedures and technology through continuing education programs and scientific journals. In her spare time Dr. Saghafi enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction books, cooking, baking, and traveling.

I had to checkback to see if this place still existed. Of course it does. My family has been with this office since my MUCH older brother needed his jaw stretched. I haven't gone back even though covid has locked me to this office since my retainer broke last week. They were nice before the retainer wires being offset incident cutting the underside of my tongue. Took well over 8 visits and each time grinding down the retainer to figure out that mess. Even had the gall to tell me to toughen up when my mouth was bleeding and swelling up from the metal, just the metal. Research says it probably has nickel since it has been degrading and looking like swiss cheese with 24/7 usage, family has an allergy to nickel. I can't say other places don't have the same practices with only being with this office my entire life literally, but I can at least advise checking and comparing as many places as possible.

What a wonderful office! We were just visiting from out of state and my son forgot to pack his orthodontic rubber bands. The staff at Axelrode was friendly and helpful and provided some for him free of charge. Thank you!

Very Professional and friendly. They really go to great lengths explaining what they are going to do, the stages involves and are so quick to see your child if they've gone and done something to their expanders or braces. Again!!! They also have a community gathering every year with bouncy castles, raffles, ice cream, rock climbing, was like a fun fair this year. They go the extra mile for the community.
