I am both passionate about and excited to be practicing in this new era of dentistry. But what I have been most passionate about in my 20 years of practice has been providing world-class outcomes for our patients to keeping them healthy for a lifetime.

There is nothing more satisfying than creating beautiful smiles for my patients. By having a complete understanding of a patients condition I can make an accurate diagnosis of their oral health, which allows me to clarify with a patient the current state of their health. When a patient both understands and sees what is going on in his or her mouth, that person becomes empowered to make the best choices for treatment that meet their needs for the health, longevity, and the appearance of their smile.

I get charged at the beginning of every day knowing the positive difference me and my team will make in the lives of people. On occasion, patients can become overwhelmed with their new ability to chew and enjoy food or to smile with confidence. These transformations empower our team to do the best that we can for our patients.

A native of Honolulu, HI, I received my Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Oregonin 1988. After graduation, I moved to Portland, OR to attend the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry. In 1992, I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Following a one-year residency in San Antonio, TX, I moved to Bend to open Awbrey Dental Group.

I participate in continuing education to make sure I am always at the top of my game. What professional athlete can command a number-one ranking without an unending commitment to hone their ability? Ultimately, it is my patients who win when I am able to provide them both world-class diagnostic skills and clinical outcomes. Health, longevity, confidence, and a natural smile are what our patients experience with a team that is dedicated to continuous and never ending improvement.

I am a proud father of two wonderful children, Mari and Luke. When Im not in the office perfecting smiles, I enjoy outrigger canoe paddling, cross-country skiing, cycling, and running. My family and I love to go up to the Gorge during the summer on the weekends to paddle, cycle, and hike.

Committed to giving back to my community, my team and I donate our skills once a quarter to provide dental care for low income children. I am also on the board for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Oregon, which helps to create an environment of support and caring for youth. Through this support kids are less likely to drop out of high school, go to college, gain confidence in themselves, and in turn give back to their communities where they live. I truly believe making our community a better place to live benefits all of us. A healthy community is a happy community.

It is such a privilege to be able to practice dentistry. Being able to create a positive change in my patients lives is what drives me every day. No matter the size of the change, big or little, I get excited knowing that I play a role in making a positive impact on their oral health. I understand that dentistry can feel foreboding. The mouth is a personal space, and trust and communication are essential. Its my goal to always advocate for my patients and help them make informed decisions that empower them to achieve and maintain the beautiful, healthy smile of their dreams.

Prior to moving to Bend and joining the ADG team, I practiced in Portland and SW Washington, running an office with two other general dentists and an orthodontist. Being able to collaborate across specialties enabled me to provide the best possible outcomes for my patients. I continually push myself to learn and grow, and understand that like many things, dentistry is adaptive. Being up-to-date on the most current advances and technologies enables me to offer a wide range of solutions for my patients.

I received my BA in English Literature from the University of Washington. This background gave me the ability to look at clinical scenarios from both a scientific and artistic viewpoint, and is something I pride myself on. Following graduation, I wanted to diversify my skill set before entering into dental school. During the interim period, I held a number of leadership roles in retail management and multimedia editing in Seattle. I received my dental education from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. During school I was an elected representative for ASDA, participating in organized dentistry events across the country. I was also a member of the Oral Surgery Club, the Diversity Club, and orchestrated all dental school community outreach initiatives. I graduated as a member of the academic honors society Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Believing that continual learning is essential, Ive continued to expand my skills and my knowledge. I participate regularly in continuing education that makes me a better informed and more skillful provider for my patients. Im a proud member of the following dental societies:

During my down time, youll always find me with my wife, Allie, and our hilarious pup, Figgy. I love to experience all the NW has to offer, so youll typically find us scouting the local food scene, exploring a local coffee shop, or outside enjoying the beautiful Bend scenery. I love to travel, and have a serious fascination with architecture and interior design.

Giving back to the community has been a cornerstone of my entire academic and professional career. Im excited to grow with this community that has been so open and accepting, and offer my skills to improve the lives of others.

I have had a deep connection with dentistry since the time I was born. Growing up, my mom worked as a dental office manager and still does to this day. Because of this I was able to feel comfortable in a dentist's office early in life, which many people cannot relate to! With this in mind, I work to make every patient feel comfortable in the dental chair. I strive to educate every patient so that they can make choices about their oral health with certainty and leave the office with assurance that they made the right decision. Building confidence in patients and trust with patients ensures that I can deliver the best dental care that we decide is right.

I was born and raised in the small Texas panhandle town of Pampa. There I began to recognize my interest in dentistry at an early age. After Highschool, I was accepted into the Dental Early Admissions Program at Abilene Christian University and graduated High Honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. I attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental school where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. There I served as President of the dental Fraternity, Xi Psi Phi, as well as the Student Intramural Representative.

Before moving to Bend, I practiced dentistry in Austin, Texas. I worked with many colleagues in a group practice which allowed me to develop better skills and practices that I brought with me to Oregon. I am excited to start a new adventure here with the ADG team and continue to provide the best care possible, while still learning and applying new technologies and ideas for an even better dental experience.

I moved to Bend with my Beautiful wife Megan and our 3 dogs, Murphy, Zeus, and Cobalt. We were lucky enough to visit Bend just before the Covid-19 lock down and moved here soon after, so we are ready to explore and see all of Central Oregons hidden gems. We enjoy the outdoors and will be hiking, camping, skiing, kayaking, and fishing everywhere we can. You may also see us out supporting all of the local restaurants and breweries that reside in Bend. We cannot wait to become involved in this great community and give back when and where we can.

Dr. Mark Builder, DMD graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University in 2000 with High Clinical Honors and High Academic Honors. He is very active in Continuing Dental Education, including graduating from the Kois Centerwhich is a rigorous curriculum for aesthetic and re-constructive dentistry. Other areas of post-doctoral course work include root canal therapy, surgical implant placement, periodontal surgery, oral surgery, and bone grafting surgery. He is alsointerested in the technological side of dentistry and has implemented high technology into his office, such as Cone Beam Computed Tomography (3D imaging), digital x-rays, and a dentalmicroscope.

Gratitude for such a nice cleaning. This is the first dentist of over five in life that actually created a long term holistic plan for my teeth. The others threw spaghetti on the wall wasting a lot of my money. Dr. Covalt and everyone there are caring and professional.

Went here or about a year. They canceled a teeth cleaning that took months to schedule and never notified me. Disappointed in their poor communication. The dentist I worked with was great, but feel they are too focused on profit and turn around. Improve your communication. Will be pursuing somewhere else. Thanks

They completely ghosted me after ripping me off for their Clear Correct treatment. I seriously can't believe it. Over 5k down the drain and my teeth are worse off. Please trust me and know that you will be better off elsewhere. My girlfriend also needed to go elsewhere to fix their mistakes after they messed up her fillings. Don't be fooled by the nice facility and friendly people. They're very bad at what you actually pay them to do.

They were way over priced, promised a free whitening and I had to ask for it 3 times and I still never got it. The staff was pleasant but the prices were crazy

I've had great, thorough, caring experiences at Awbrey dental. Reviews are for new patients though, and I'd advise looking elsewhere right now as they are having serious staffing and scheduling problems. No, you don't need to wait 9+ months to get your teeth cleaned in Bend; try another awesome practice that can get you in much sooner and avoid cancelations.

New dental hygienist today, she did a great job. They are busy, make your next appointment before you think you need to.

I have been undergoing extensive dental/orthodontic work over the past 2 years and have found Dr. Yonan to be exemplary in his plan for me and the work he has performed. His prices are quite in line, as well. You will not find a better dentist in Bend! I can say the same for his hygienists and office staff. They are professional with an appropriate sense of humor.

Terrifying and upsetting experience with hygenist Taylor today. I know they are short-staffed, but she was racing around, rushing, and very high-strung and angry. I was three minutes late because they had rescheduled my appointment twice and had to squeeze me in around my work, and she blamed her rushing on my "lateness". She was aggressive, unsympathetic with a nervous patient, and generally scary. I coudn't imagine her cleaning my teeth while rushing and angry. I have had two other hygenists here and loved them. Now matter how short-staffed you are, it's not worth hiring someone with zero kindness toward patients and who should be in a different profession altogether (DMV?). I also recommend not rebooking the same patient twice when short-staffed. It has been months since I was due for a cleaning, and this visit was so troubling that I'm planning to find a new practice altogether.

They called me 30 min before a scheduled appointment to cancel and then would only offer me a new appointment 4 months later at the earliest...

I absolutely love this dental office :) I had Mara clean my teeth this morning and she did a fantastic job. The doctor came in and is super knowledgeable and explained everything really well. I will continue to go to this dental office in the future :)
