She attended Fort Hays State University before attaining her doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002. She practiced in Greeley, Colorado, before making the Vail Valley her permanent home.
She has practiced in Eagle, Colorado since 2004 and enjoys the small town atmosphere and community. Dr. Kassmel is a member of the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Western Colorado Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry, as well as local study groups. She is the state's only GP Platinum Plus Level Invisalign Provider and has over 500 hours of continuing education hours. She has attended Dawson Center for Advanced Studies as well as TruDenta Occlusal and Headache Academy.
Dr. Josh Heimerdinger attended the University of Missouri, graduating with Departmental Honors in Biological Sciences. While earning his Doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine he was honored to receive the ADSA Award for Anesthesiology. He furthered his education after dental school by completing a General Practice Residency at the University of Washington Seattle. After two years of private practice in Missouri, Dr. Heimerdinger decided it was time to move to the mountains and happily accepted a position at Avon Dental. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry, but is passionate about implantology, dental surgeries, sedation dentistry, digital dentistry, and sports dentistry. He is beyond excited to join the Avon Dental team!
In his free time he is always in motion, utilizing any opportunity to camp, cycle, ski, sail, or climb. He also spends time playing a handful of musical instruments including guitar, mandolin, saxophones and other woodwinds. He loves to volunteer his time at community dental clinics both domestic and abroad. He has also volunteered at childrens dental clinics in both Seattle and St. Louis, and is looking forward to serving the communities in the Vail Valley!
From a military family, Dr. Melina Bjornson spent most of her childhood in Keller, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from University of North Texas and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.
Before completing her doctorate degree, she lived in the Vail Valley where she grew to love this community deeply. This made the decision to return an easy one. She enjoys spending time with her husband Tom and their two kidsJax and Leilani. Best place to find her outside of the office is on the mountain, snowboarding, hiking, biking, running, or gardening.
Dr. Bjornson is passionate about helping people and their families in the community be a healthier and happier version of themselves. She is looking forward to seeing your smiling faces out and about as well as in Avon Dental!

Dr. Drescher achieved his BA in Biology from the University of Iowa and then his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from theSouthern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine(1994). He is trained in microscope dentistry and is a member of thePsi Omega Dental Fraternitywhose mission is to advance the high standards of dentistry by instilling in its members the spirit of fraternal cooperation; and to exert its influence for the advancement of the dental profession in its methods of teaching, of practice, of research, of ethics, and of jurisprudence.
Dedicated to community dental education, over the years Dr. Drescher has participated in numerous health fairs,Dentistry From The Heart(providing dental care to the underserved), and has worked for the local seniors centre.
